  • C6280 all-in-One is not recognized by my computer. Uninstalled all HP programs and reinstalled drive

My C6280 all-in-One printer worked flawlessly for several years now.  Tonight (after work well throughout the day) when I tried to scan a document to make a .pdf file, I clicked on my desktop for the HP printer icon and nothing happened.  The computer was no connection to the printer.  I restarted the computer (it is Windows XP) and still no connection.  Check all the cables connected physically.  Printer disconnected from the computer and the power source for a minute then don't... always reconnected no connection.  So I uninstalled all HP programs and reinstalled the drive to see if that would fix the problem, but it has no effect.  Don't know what to do from here.

Well, it was a road of circuatis, but I was finally able to get uninstalled everything and re-installed correctly and I am now able to connect to the printer directly from the computer with the icon on the desktop.  Thanks for your help.  PHEW!

  • I managed to stop annoying popup windows from amazon today by the uninstall of a program called firefox maintenance. Was this spyware or software legitimate?

I started getting pop ups very recently (oct 2015) I went to the Panel and programs a characteristic and class list install by date. At first it was one that I distrusted, maintenance on a hunch and firefox decided to uninstall it. I made the right choice - and how this program type of spyware/adware on my computer.

Hi, there is a legitimate program called Mozilla Maintenance Service, which in your programs, should show the same under Firefox version number - what is the Service of Maintenance Mozilla?. If that's what you mean, it would be not responsible for pop-ups advertising. If it is really "Maintenance of Firefox", then I would have certainly considered with suspicion.

You can check your settings pop up here - the Blocker settings, exceptions, and troubleshooting.

If the problem persists, you can try these free programs to search for malicious software that work with your existing anti-virus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP, if you do not already have one. Windows 8 already has integrated antivirus.

More information can be found in the article troubleshooting Firefox problems caused by malware .

  • Cannot uninstall the old program, reinstall, or remove the folder

I bought this home edition of XP used from Lady in my building.  His father-in-law was.  It has the older version of mozilla firefox here since 2009.  In the Panel of control-add/remove programs-it will not uninstall.  I tried to click the icon for it and it will not open.  I tried to delete the file and receive error message: access is denied.  I went on the site and can not download the latest version either.  What should I do now?  It does not close also.  It restarts after said save setttings and stop.

You bought a computer with a preinstalled operating system or just the OS and put it on a computer that you have ever had?

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find.  Reboot when necessary.  (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in.  Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.)  You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory.  This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Do some cleaning and dusting off this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

    How to use disk cleanup

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

You can use an application that scans your system for the log files and temporary files and use it to get rid of those who:

    CCleaner (free!)

Download the latest version of Windows Update (x 86) agent here:

Now that your system is generally free of malicious software (assuming you have an AntiVirus application), you've cleaned the "additional applications" that could be running and picking up your precious memory and the processor, you have authorized out of valuable and makes disk space as there are no problems with the drive itself and your Windows Update components are updates and should work fine - it is only only one other thing you pouvez wish to make:

Get and install the hardware device last drivers for your system hardware/system manufacturers support and/or download web site.

If you want, come back and let us know a bit more information on your system - particularly the brand / model of the system, you have - and maybe someone here can guide you to the place s x of law to this end.  This isn't 100% necessary - but I'd be willing to bet that you would gain some performance and features in making this part.

  • Oops - I uninstalled a few programs and now I have no sound

OK - I feel really stupid, and after several hours of trying to fix it myself I feel even more stupid.

A couple of days, I decided to remove some programs on my computer that it seemed that I didn't need. I deleted 2 or 3 - everything the computer I said "rarely used". I thought I might as well get rid of a few things that might slow me down. And no, I don't remember the names of those that I deleted.

Now - a few days later I noticed I have no sound - not the startup music, no itunes, no sound with video. Nothing. All my strings are tight and my speakers are on. I tried to reset my computer to a week ago, but he said that there are no changes. I went a month ago and he said the same. In the meantime, the message of itunes is "Itunes has detected a problem in your audio configuration, playback audio/visual does not work correctly.  In Control Panel, I went to 'Sounds, speech and audio devices - the volume' and it shows just "no audio device." I went through the troubleshooting steps and he told me to go to-control panel, printers, and other devices and then add material - but it don't tell me what to add. Frustrated!

I know I messed up something good enough, but it seems that I should be able to reinstall what I uninstalled. I don't know what it is!

A few directions step by step on how to get back my sound would be very appreciated!

Simply go to the site of the manufacturer of your PC/computer laptop, find the support page for your machine, then download and install the latest audio drivers XP.

    See you soon,.
