Unknown icon on desktop

A head of white arrow with the letter 'A' inside surrounded by a gray background is displayed in the bottom right of my office and is always at the top.  What is it, and can get rid of him?  Thank you.

Thank you. It was very helpful and worked for me.

I had the same icon and couldn't get rid of him so far.

For those who have XP, here were the steps I did to solve this problem.

Control Panel > display > (tab) settings > advanced (button) > On Screen Display (tab)

On the screen, search for the topic "settings for NumLock and CapsLock indicator."

Under that you will see radio buttons in option.

Make sure that NUMLOCK and caps lock shift the TOP option button is selected.

for example 'display the indicator for a few seconds", rather than"always display the indicator on the screen.

Thanks heaps

  • How do you install an icon show desktop in my taskbar (similar to that available on my XP machine)?

    Or y at - it a faster way to get back on the desktop when many windows are open on the screen?

    Allurfine/Chimel:

    The 'show desktop' icon is redundant, good stuff... OK, so, we'll put it all together:

    (1) How to create icon "Show Desktop" - and place it on start bar (or indeed in any folder you want that you have write access to the disk):

    Click Start and run, type notepad in the Open box, and then click OK.
    Copy carefully and then paste the following text in the Notepad window:
    [Shell]

    Order = 2

    IconFile = explore .exe, 3

    [Taskbar]

    Command = ToggleDesktop

    On the file menu, click Save as, and then save the file to your desktop as "Show desktop.scf". The show, the desktop icon is created on your desktop.

    Once you have created the icon, you can also drag on the start bar and access it from the start menu if you wish.

    2) show the desktop on the taskbar icon:

    On the right bar or a task far beyond date and time zone.

    (3) computer access from desktop with Windows-D.

    * There you go. Here are 3 ways you can use show desktop. All are redundant. That said, Windows is full of redundancies if you want to get technical - I'm guessing another synonym for this is "user friendly". Use any method you want. I think the point is to have as many options as possible and use Windows in any way works best for you.

    Good luck

  • Unknown icon for blackBerry Smartphones

    The SMS, I am unable to send texts an unknown icon of red square with clock like hands at 3 o clock. Why is - this suddenly appeared?

    Hello and welcome to the community!

    Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

    Best!

    I have two unknown icons on my phone that probably do not have a problem on my phone but I just want to know what they are and if I can delete them. First of all, I have a globe looking thing on the left of the date and time that looks like little to my icon browser but instead, it is yellow with a small 2 beside him. Also, whenever I type a text or anything with letters, I have a NUMBER in the upper right corner and I don't see what service I. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    FYI: I have a Blackberry "BOLD".
