  • Turn on auto cannot unlock with Apple Watch

    Hi guys,.

I need help here.  I'm on macOS Sierra on a MacBook Pro (retina, 13 inches, end of 2013).  I actually had auto unlock with my Apple Watch two days ago.  But then I did a stupid thing yesterday and had to restore the MacBook OSX Maverick and re-upgrade to Sierra.  I can't activate longer auto unlock with Apple Watch now and it's really frustrating.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Don't feel alone, there are a lot of problems. Very inconsistent behavior.

  • I still have to type my password after I enabled unlocking with Apple Watch.

Well, I did everything correctly. Or at least I think. But for some reason, my mac still asks me a password to unlock. As I opened the cover, I get the message "Unlock with Apple Watch". But he invites me just after my password.

Did someone else faced with something similar or is that what I'm doing wrong?

    Thank you

    I have the same question.

I filled all the criteria and even turned off the FileVault nothing helps. The MacBook Pro (with OS Sierra end 2013) seems to want to "" be unlocked, but the watch (1st generation with OS 3) shows absolutely no sign of communication with the Mac. All devices are on the same wifi and Bluetooth is turned on.

    I give up!

  • 2SV v. 2FA for Auto unlock with Apple Watch

Try to set up the auto unlock with Apple Watch on my MacBook Air (fall 2013) after the installation of Sierra. Get this message:

    Off the 2SV using applied.apple.com

... and still get the same message "2FA is required" box "Security & Privacy".

    What I am doing wrong?

P.S., rescue email Apple ID has not yet been verified, because it belongs to my sister who lives in a very different time zone, but I don't see how this should matter for the automatic implementation of release.

The message is mainly to tell you that you must enable two-factor authentication, is not that you should disable 2SV. You will need to disable 2SV before you can activate 2FA.

You should always activate 2FA it to AppleID.apple.com

I don't know why you don't see the option to activate 2FA here on the Security section. You have a device running El Capitan or later, or a device running iOS 9 or a later version in your list of devices?

  • Unlock with Apple Watch does not

    Hello

I'm running a MacBook Air mid-2013 with macOS Sierra, with a 2nd Gen Apple Watch watchOS3 running. I'm on the same Apple for my Air ID, see and iPhone (6 s).

But unlock with Apple Watch does not work on my Air. I activated 2 factor authentication. I checked the box that allows to unlock with Apple Watch. Everything seems to be kosher.

When I close and reopen my Air, "Unlock with Apple Watch" appears for about 10 seconds, and then I type my password.

    Help? Thank you!

I also have this problem. I have 2 accounts on my Macbook. One is the first account that I don't use, second my regular account. On my Second account, it of the same problem, but with the Admin account... It works.

    I Don t know why.

  • Automatic unlocking with Apple Watch active but expire

I've activated automatic unlocking on my Mac (Macbook Air 6.1) successfully, I had my first gen Apple Watch upgraded to watch OS 3 and when I opened my Macbook, it says «Unlock with Apple Watch...» ». After a few seconds, however, I get a spinny wheel thought and then it expires and I get the password prompt. I tried to restart my Mac and my watch, but don't know what else to do here?

As far as I know I have everything set up properly - 2-factor authentication, the right operating system, the hardware supports, but it just times out. Anyone have any idea why this could be or a potential solution?

Seems that you have all your ducks in a row, but check the instructions here > http://www.cultofmac.com/441405/how-to-use-apple-watch-to-unlock-your-mac-in-mac os-sierra /

  • There is no feature to unlock by Apple Watch with the Mavericks

    Hello

I've updated my Mac Mini (2013) to the Mavericks but found no line under 'Security' in 'System Preferences' which gives me the option to unlock by Apple Watch? I have re-installed the software but still nothing appears. I've updated my iCloud with the "two factor authentication" settings and still nothing...

    Can someone help me please?

You say in your post that you have a Mac Mini in 2013, but your lower signature, color gray, says you have a Mac Mini from 2012.

    Who is this?

In any case, the unlock feature requires any model 2013 and later Mac running the new macOS Sierra (NOT OS X 10.9 Mavericks) using a Apple Watch, running watch OS 3 with an iPhone 5 or later.

Time for either to update hardware and software!

  • Auto unlock with Apple Watch does not appear in my window security and confidentiality

    Hello

Automatic unlocking with Apple Watch is available for the Mac models since the mid-2013 and later running macOS Sierra.

    Check that:

    • Your Mac has Bluetooth and Wi - Fi enabled.
    • Your Apple ID use two factor authentication (as opposed to the two-step verification):
    • Your Mac and Apple Watch are connected to iCloud with the same Apple ID:
      • On your Mac, choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, and then click iCloud.
      • On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app, then go to general > Apple ID.
    • Your Apple Watch uses a password:
      • On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app, then type the access code.
    • Transfer procedure is enabled on your iPhone and your Mac:
      • On your iPhone, go to: settings > general > transfer procedure.
      • On your Mac, go to: System preferences > General - down, tick the option "Allow transfer between the Mac and your iCloud devices."
      • If these parameters are already enabled, a user has found that it helped to deactivate and reactivate the procedure of transfer on their iPhone.

Then, try to turn the iPhone, with the Apple Watch is paired both devices Mac, power off and on. Sometimes, that's all that is needed for connections reset and everything working properly again.

If you're still having problems, please cancel the twinning of your Apple Watch from your iPhone by following the steps described here: pairing your Apple Watch and iPhone. Reset the network settings on your iPhone under settings > general > reset > reset network settings. This will remove not your personal information (contacts, photos, calendar of events, etc.), but it will remove networks WiFi recorded and passwords, as well as all the APN or previously used VPN settings and Bluetooth devices connected. After the reset of the iPhone, pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone again and check if the Apple Watch can then unlock your Mac.
