Hi byersm,

It might be possible that you have downloaded advertisements while browsing online. These ads come sometimes upward even if you do not browse. Ads can get downloaded without intervention on your part. Here's what you can do to solve the problem.

Method 1: Empty your temporary internet files

For help, see: view temporary Internet files

Method 2: Run a scan for viruses on your computer

Run a virus scan to see if your computer is infected. Update the definition of your antivirus database before running the analysis. If you don't have any antivirus installed, download and install Microsoft Security Essentials.

See how it goes.

  • removing an unwanted program

I tried to remove an unwanted program from my computer, nothing helps. When I try to remove it, I get the message, there is no, so we can't delete. But the program pretty still shows on my list of programs and the space you need on my computer. Every other time when I removed a program, the program has been removed and unlisted. Why is this program still on the list, and it seems that it is still on my computer? The program is PC Maximizer, one of these PC repair operations. What every opinion continues? Is this "thing" still in my system? If this is not the case, why is it always appear on my lists of programs? Thank you.

    Try this application.

Be very careful the Maximizer/repair/registry maintenance programs external type. Very often, they will do more harm than good.

  • Don't want to ' click me ' who has hijacked my browser

The best thing about firefox is that he did not force unwanted shite on your computer, taking forever to get shot of for a computer numpty like me.
Unfortunately now we have ' click me '. I don't want to click on you; I never play computer games. Why not ask me if I want this absolute crap before I force you on me? Just remove it from my computer that I can't do it, but you put there so that you can. Thank you very much.

That game Click Me part of the promotion of the Humble Bundle of Mozilla on the default Home Page [subject: House], which loads from the Mozilla servers in the "Brand Logo" section (DIV) of about: House. A feature that has been used in Firefox 29 [IDE] just before the start of the Olympic Games.

Also, part of this promotion is addressed in the "excerpt" under the container of the research on the topic: homepage.

If you want to prevent the section "Brand Logo" (and the "snippet" under the reservoir of research) never to be seen again, you can install this UserStyle and elegant. https://userstyles.org/styles/104673/about-home-hide-snippets-and-hide-brand-logo

  • I wake up all day to a new tab opened in Firefox that is either sponsor or fix this how do I get to stop

I leave my computer running all night. I have only my open e-mail tab and when I get up in the am, another tab is open, and it could say "sponsor" on the tab and in the screeen say difficulty your slow problem now or a new game, he wants to lower the load. Its boring. I'm ready to remove Firefox and return to Internet exployer if is not not raise that garage. Ive ran security checks and I do not have a virus. What is causing this new tab will appear?

Most likely, this is caused by unwanted software on your computer. In past discussions (e.g., How can I keep Firefox open a window on the website tofushopnews.com), users have discovered a new folder DSite containing a program that runs ads in your default browser, and a scheduled task listed in Windows Task Scheduler that runs this program at the same time each day. This was associated with the "Update for Zip opener" and 'Update for the Codecs' (and probably other programs), but may require manual removal.

To find the path to the unwanted program, try looking here:

Windows XP: Start button > [all] the programs > Accessories > system tools > scheduled tasks

Windows 7: Start button > Control Panel > system and security > administrative tools > Task Scheduler

  • Equium L10 - runs very slowly

I have a Toshiba Equium L10 (496 MB RAM, 1.5 Ghz celeron M Processor, 37.2 GB HARD drive)

He did run very slowly for a while now and am really get annoyed with it. It takes like 8 minis for the Office to load more than a few minutes more for programs to load up. I'm pretty ok with computers and things like registry editing to a certain extent etc.

Please could you help me because I can't afford to upgrade my laptop at the moment?

I tried to uninstall as many unwanted programs on the computer and find myself with a 23.7 GB free on the hard drive.
It's kinda an old laptop now, but I try to get the most possible out of him in this moment so plase help me

    Thank you

To be honest I n don't know what you want at the moment.
You want to upgrade your laptop or you want to make Windows faster?

I put t know what programs you have installed, but after you remove all the programs you need t n you should clean your system using CCleaner.
Also disable any startup programs you start n t need in msconfig and start menu folder. Don t forget to defragment your HARD drive.
In the worst cases, you need to reinstall Windows. Not all Windows problems can be solved without complete new installation.

Last but not least the Equium L10 can be upgraded to 1 GB of RAM. This can also help you to make Windows faster.

I tried to install Service Pack 2 for Vista for months (years?).  Unsucessfully.  I worked with the support of MS for hours and shared control, and we have not yet solved the problem.  I have the stand alone downloaded and saved to my desktop pack.

This is what has been tried so far:

Action: Tried to perform the clean boot.
    Result: success.
Action: Tried to delete unwanted files in the computer.
    Result: success.
Action: Tried to run a sfc

Action: Installed standalone pack for SP2
    Result: the updates have been installed successfully.<- (not="" true,="" as="" agent="" didn't="" stay="" online="" with="" me="" through="" the="" installation="" to="" know="" it="" didn't="">

When it tries to install it, it goes through steps 1 & 2 without problem.  When it comes to halfway through step 3, this is where it usually stops.  I then get a message that says: "do not have. Changes in return ".

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Re: adware

My computer dell - dimension 4300 with window xp to OS - is infected by a called PriceGong adware and no matter how many times I trie to remove the system it keeps popping up whenever I go on internet explore. I used the essential security scanner from microsoft and malawerabyte in normal mode and safe to remove it and although it was removed of the momentarily system that it always comes back whenever I connect to the internet. I went into the Add/Remove program feature to see if I could uninstall it from there, but I do not see any program called PriceGong; However, in the space of performance I typed ProgramFiles and I found a folder named PriceGong which I deleted. I also typed in the same %APPDATA%\microsoft\windows\sendto space and I found one here too, which again once I deleted; The strange thing is that in the program files folder disappeared for good after I deleted it, but in the appdata files keep reappering over and over again... !

Is there another way to erase this pest off the system once and for all?  I'd appreciate your feedback,

    Frank.

    Hi Frank:

You are obviously looking for. I have a few suggestions:

    (1) download and install the free stand-alone utility AdwCleaner Version: 2.109 from here:

    AdwCleaner instructions:
The use of AdwCleaner is very simple. Just download the program and run it.  You will then be presented with a form that contains a button find and remove.  The search button will AdwCleaner find unwanted programs on your computer and view a log showing the various files, folders and registry entries used by these programs.

To remove these unwanted programs simply click on the button Delete, which will make AdwCleaner to restart your computer and delete the files and registry entries associated with the various adware that you remove.  Upon restart, AdwCleaner displays a newspaper showing the files, folders, and registry entries that have been deleted.

Notes: I have used this utility, and although I can't say that it has detected something more than the remains and traces of adware on my XP system, I can say that it is well recommended and seems to have done no harm. If it will work for your problem, I can't say.

    (2) if the above does not work, it could well represent a more serious infection. I suggest that you subscribe to spywarehammer.com here:
    http://spywarehammer.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=12262.0
Follow the instructions and post your problem and newspapers asked.

Good luck and let us know how things will go.
