I wake up all day to a new tab opened in Firefox that is either sponsor or fix this how do I get to stop

I leave my computer running all night. I have only my open e-mail tab and when I get up in the am, another tab is open, and it could say "sponsor" on the tab and in the screeen say difficulty your slow problem now or a new game, he wants to lower the load. Its boring. I'm ready to remove Firefox and return to Internet exployer if is not not raise that garage. Ive ran security checks and I do not have a virus. What is causing this new tab will appear?

Most likely, this is caused by unwanted software on your computer. In past discussions (e.g., How can I keep Firefox open a window on the website tofushopnews.com), users have discovered a new folder DSite containing a program that runs ads in your default browser, and a scheduled task listed in Windows Task Scheduler that runs this program at the same time each day. This was associated with the "Update for Zip opener" and 'Update for the Codecs' (and probably other programs), but may require manual removal.

To find the path to the unwanted program, try looking here:

Windows XP: Start button > [all] the programs > Accessories > system tools > scheduled tasks

Windows 7: Start button > Control Panel > system and security > administrative tools > Task Scheduler

I use Windows Media Player 11 and I have Internet Explorer 8 is installed on XP Pro and when I try to listen to a CD that I pulled it out of my computer, a new tab opens in Firefox (my default browser), with the following message:

The license can not be downloaded because your Web browser is not supported.
To download a license, you must install Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or later.
To install the latest version of Internet Explorer, see the Windows Update page.

What do I need any type of license to, to listen to music, I ripped a CD I bought, and furthermore that the browser has to do with what ever automated procedure Microsoft Media Player must perform?

  • Lost all my thumb nails - new tabs open only a blank page. How to make a comeback?

The subject of support on this issue says look for a "PIN" icon in the upper left corner of the browser. I do not show one. Firefox used to just automatically populate my new tabs with thumbnails page, but is no longer doing this, and I don't know how to fix it.
I downloaded some freeware that has changed a number of navigation options (browser by default, added Bing bar without my full knowledge, etc.). Who has had all removed but then Firefox did not work well, so I had to uninstall/reinstall the program. Now my thumb nails are gone and I can't recover them or create new ones.
    Help!
    Cheers, Dolly

    Hello

You can reset the setting for the page tab by following these instructions:

    • In the URL bar, type about: config and press ENTER.
    • The subject: config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click on that I'll be careful, I promise! to keep the comments: config page.
    • In the search box, type "browser.newtab.url".
    • Click the browser.newtab.url preference, and then click Reset. He must then change back to the default which is ' on: newtab'.
    • Click OK and close all: config tab.

You can see that it works for a while, but ultimately the problem comes. In this case then I think it is likely that some malware is hijacking your browser and make changes to the settings. That's why the change was made in the first place without your permission. You said that you had deleted the free software that you have installed, but sometimes they seem to have disappeared, but in fact to leave a trace.

In this case, you can try these free programs to search for malicious software that work with your existing anti-virus software:

I also suggest you do the following:

    • a comprehensive analysis with your current antivirus software.
    • Watch your Firefox Add-ons and remove any that you install yourself - disable or remove modules
    • Look at your list of applications from Windows startup and disable anything you think might be related or suspicious look.
    • Look at your list of installed Windows applications and uninstall anything that you think might be related or suspicious look.

  • scam or really attacked by pirates? not a phone call, the new tab opened by saying that I have to call

a 888 number and do nothing to the computer until I've had technical assistance.  I called them and a (non-native) Indian answered the phone and told me my computer was attacked by pirates and they stole my financial information.

the tale is that he said that Microsoft programs have a trigger when someone is hacking the computer it will send a warning to consumers and their technical support and that the only way to stop piracy was to have the computer registered with Microsoft and have the wall of fire from Microsoft and it comes free.  I asked Norton and *?  He said Norton was just for the virus and RCP is a scam.  He said that he could not stop hackers and intended to correct the problem, to speak with legal to check what would be the cost!

$199.99 to install the fire wall to the service of life.

  • New tabs open to the right of the current page, not extreme right?

I liked using the new tab button, which disappeared from the most recent version, I had to go back to 38 to find it and put it back on my toolbar. However, I was not able to set the way in which the new tab opens, next to the page that I am. Previously, if I clicked on the new tab button, a new tab would open at the far right of the tabs. I tried to fix it by going to about: config, changing the browser.tabs.insertrelatedaftercurrent to 'false' to 'true' as was the fix in 2013. Alas, it doesn't now and I want to change it back. In addition, the new tab icon/button is gone for good in the new versions?

If your new tab button opens a tab in the middle of your tabs, it could be a feature of an extension related to tab. Some of them, such as Tab Mix Plus and Tab Utilities have so many parameters it can be a challenge to sort through all of them. You can check your extensions and check if they have an Options button to tweak their settings, on page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then go through the list on the right side.

  • Force new tabs open to the right of the current tab

    Hi all

Is it possible to have the new tabs open to the right of the current tab, you are, as opposed to the default which is to the right of the last tab open?

I know that it's automatic when you click on a link in the tab in the course, but would be very happy to be able to do this for new tabs.

    Thank you!
    Barb

First of all, you are running a very old version of Firefox, please update Firefox 11 to get all the latest security patches.

Download and install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full scan. http://www.Malwarebytes.org/

    Download and launch TDSSKiller http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363

Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials (no not official approval, but I personally recommend MSE as a great permanent anti-virus)

    Check all Windows updates.

Then, start Firefox upward in Safe Mode to see if it's a faulty extension at the root of the problem.

  • How can I change where a new tab opens?

When I used to open a new tab, it would be a blank page. Now, a new tab opens to the AVG safe search page. How to restore or change it to, say, the Google search page? THX.

To change the option in AVG, see part two, "AVG search on the newly open Firefox tabs", on the following page:

I'm not a user of AVG, so I do not know what opportunities are available to you in the above. After setting the above 'None' or similar, if offered option, you can install follows and the options to load the page all you want to open in a new tab (Modules > Extensions > new TabURL > Options):

  • Whenever I try to open a new tab in Safari, it closes in on my previous page. How should I do so that I can have several tabs open?

Whenever I try to open a new tab in Safari, it closes in on my previous page. How should I do so that I can have several tabs open?

What version of OS/Safari do you use?

    Try a reboot.

Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolate a problem by using a different user account

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

  • Open a new tab opens a new tab and new window in double - how can this be corrected?

When a new tab is opened (by any method-'ctrl t' etc - a new tab opens, but also a new window which is a duplicate of the window active.) Assistance to resolve this would be most appreciated.

Please try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

  • How can I set the number of clickable options on the tab very base + new which opens onto Firefox?

Before the update, wheneve rI hit the + button to add a new tab, it should start with 10 of my most frequented marked directly on the page. Now, only four appear. I was unable to find a way to change this, so it was little difficult and boring. Whenever Firefox updates - it changes something I love, and they don't really offer the choice to not to change these things.

Hi, you can change the number of tiles on the Page of the new tab to zoom in or out (Ctrl and + key, or Ctrl and - key).

You can also keep the same zoom setting when a new tab is clicked: Type Subject: config in the address bar, press ENTER, accept the warning, scroll to browser.newtab.preload and double-click on it to change the 'value' of true to False.

It is also possible about: config to change the maximum number of tiles, scrolling to the browser.newtabpage.columns (or Rows), then right-click > modify to set a new number of 'value '.

As an alternative, you might like to try the add-on new tab tools.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.
