  • Database Toolbox and Chinese characters

    Hi all

I have a problem with a function where users can search inside a Microsoft SQL Server database for a specific entry.

I used the database with the DB tools tool run Query.vi, users can add keyword here for example. 'blue %' inside a control of the chain, then the request is passed to the DB.

    (e.g. SELECT field1 FROM TABLE1 WHERE FIELD1 LIKE N 'blue %')

That works very well in the German version.

Now, the application is also used in China. As long as they are looking for ASCII characters everything works fine also. Now, they began to create entries with Chinese characters (which also works), but when they try to pick up some Chinese characters, they do not get a result. (when searching for entries with Chinese AND English characters and search for English characters all works too)

I do not use the Unicode functions, and the database field is an nvarchar.

Unfortunately I don't have a Chinese Version of Windows to do a few tests here.

Anyone an idea what could be the reason (Chinese codepage?) and how to solve this problem?

    Thanks and best wishes,

    Helmut

    LabView 8.5 / Microsoft SQL Server 2008

You can try this test even without changine the code (language of non-unicode programs) page. First change your chain control '-' code display. In the places where the Chinese characters would appear, enter some hexadecimal codes above 7F by fleeing with a '-'. Here are the codes that are traditionally displayed differently depending on the settings of operating system as the language for non-unicode programs.

    UPDATE table

    Foobar SET = "test\AA\BB\CC\DD."

    WHERE the blah - blah

SELECT foobar FROM table WHERE foobar LIKE 'test % '.

The returned string has \AA\BB\CC\DD after test? Now try...

Foobar SELECT FROM table WHERE foobar LIKE '% \AA\BB\CC\DD'

Get something? Try it now with the N prefix...

  • Japanese and Chinese characters appears in Windows 7

    Hello

lately, for some reason, Japanese characters in Windows Explorer refuse to appear. Usually, if I go back, they come back however, it's extremely annoying. No, it's not language packs. I can type and see the characters perfectly on the web pages. But not in Windows in general.
    Here are some examples:
(No. what category to put this in clue..)
    Thank you.

    Hello

Here's something you can try to check if it helps.

    1. go in Panel.

    2. click on clock, language and region - language , and then click modification Date, time or number Formats.

    3. click on the tab administration and then select the button settings system change under language of Non-Unicode programs.

    4. change in french. Press on apply and ok. Restart the computer and go back to the same location and select Japanese.

  • Chinese and Japanese characters are displayed incorrectly in Windows 8.

All Chinese and Japanese characters SOMETIMES appear as squares. He sometimes corrected after I rebooted the system.

I already changed the language of non-unicode as a Chinese (simplified, China) in the region > administrative.
The display for my operating system language is English.
I heard people say that it will work if I change my Format and location of Chinese/China. I don't want to do that because then my time format is displayed also as Chinese.
These combinations of setting working in Win 7.
Original title: display of Japanese and Chinese characters as squares

not sure on the display of Chinese and Japanese, but for just Japanese I found that switching language for non-unicode in Japanese once then back to English (for occasional applications that are not displayed good language) works to display Japanese characters correctly in windows Explorer

  • What the font to use for Chinese characters?

After searching the forum and help for more than an hour please help!

The Chinese characters appear in my text box, but some (not all) are displayed as areas of the image in Photoshop CS4.

I'm sure that all I have to do is to change the font, but nobody knows what's best for Chinese please?

There is MingLiu, Adobe Ming Sd and loads more... (I guess these are Chinese)

My text in the document going on the Web site is helvetica of Ariel and Chinese characters are very good in this without making any changes to the fonts in dreamweaver.

Please help I need to upload my site as soon as possible.

    Thank you very much

I have no suggestions of particular font for you, but the ESP is not aware as PS, unicode, so if you can find non-unicode fonts, you may have better luck.

  • Chinese characters Datamerging

    Heyo everyone,.

So I try to merge some sheets of an excel file which is a combination of Chinese characters and English characters. Problem is then that InDesign has no problem pulling in English, the Chinese comes in either as a question mark or as a strange Roman character. I checked that I export in the correct format (I can open it up in other programs and it spits back characters), but... I can't find any option to make sure that it is important properly.

    Any suggestions?

Huh, weird. I tried with CS3, and it works... partially. I am now getting Chinese characters, but they're wrong those Hehe, now I'm wishing that I had done so that InDesign could do this before I made my spreadsheet.

Well, I would have assumed it was absence of Excel (I don't think that his output .csv can do Unicode, much less Big5 or GB2312 - is your Chinese simplified or traditional?) but it made me think otherwise:

With the same csv file that contains English and Chinese characters, it works with InDesign CS2 but not CS4 or CS5.

However, I just did a merger successful Trad Chinese data in CS4. I did the CSV by hand - I caught a Chinese text of a translation, made a Unicode CSV (when recording in Notepad, there is a drop-down list to choose the encoding), identified as a source of data in the ID, and ran a merger. It worked perfectly. It is interesting to note that there is a 'Import Options' button when you select a data source and allows you to select an encoding and a platform - both are important! I had only three options - ASCII, ShiftJIS (Japanese) and Unicode. So, get your CSV in Unicode encoding, use the Import Options button when you select a data source, and you should be good to go.

I don't know what happened to you, eboda, but I'm talking about you were encoding ShiftJIS. I'll try that on other platforms, but in general you should always tell InDesign what encoding you work with when you manage files in plain text.

  • Chinese characters in forms PHP and MySQL CS6

Hello. I followed then adapted from David Power dynamic Web Tutorial sites to set up a basic online dictionary site. MySQL works very well for 4 of the 5 fields - post_id, pinyin, and updated. But the main field is hanzi - which should have Chinese characters. When I enter them using a form, MySQL doesn't show that '? 'or'? ' in the fields. Similarly, if I manually enter the correct characters in MYSQL through PHPAdmin, bed Web site as '?

I did some research on this problem and found this page encoding or the ranking parameters may be the problem. So I put the 'MySQL connection classification"and the field classification table & hanzi to"GB2312_chinese_ci"for Chinese characters simplified. I also changed the encoding of PHP pages in < meta http-equiv = "Content-Type" content = text/html"; charset = GB2312"/ >

However, I will still have almost the same problems. Rather than get a value of "?"or"?" in the hanzi MySQL field, I now get variations "? ±«.

I am very new to PHP and MySQL, but as I said, the real pages and forms and queries are works well for all the fields with the exception of the character Chinese one.

    Help, please!

OK thank you fixed your advice, Kenneth.

I have been researching unicode & mysql and finally found this page that it started running properly: http://blog.al-aqel.com/programming/fix-and-store-unicode-in-mysql-php/

As you say, establish codes of characters and rankings mysql to 'utf8_general_ci' including the server, database, tables & fields.

Also, it is the addition of "mysql_set_charset('utf8')"; in my PHP pages this server accessed. This was in addition to affecting the UTF-8 character set in the page's meta tags.

Awesome! Now have working Chinese simplified in my PHP pages, forms and MySQL database.

Thank you again and hope that it might help others with similar problems.

  • Chinese characters in menus and system alerts.

Some menus (e.g. device menu submenus) and sometimes messages error statements show, which seems to me to be, Chinese characters. I think not all infections from the operating system with my security software and PC functions nominally. I'm curious to know why characters non-English alphabet would appear on the PC. The default language, as selected during installation, is English (United States). Anyone think I have been infected?, or is it rather an aberration? Thanks in advance for the help.

    Hi Kaab9193,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

Do you get these non-English characters when you run a particular application?

You can try to run a scan online and check if that helps.

You can also try the Microsoft Security Essential and check if there is any virus\spyware on your computer.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

If that doesn't help then try again to create a new user account and check if it is the same in this account as well.

    To create a user account

    1. to open user accounts, click the Start button, select Control Panel, click on accounts of users and parental controlsand then click user accounts.

    2. click on Manage another account.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. click on create a new account.

4 type the name that you want to assign to the user account, click an account type, and then click create an account.

Work with Chinese characters: how to paste and edit them like sentences; not as individual images?

In 2004, it's far more detailed response, I could find: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Adobe-Illustrator-1027/FONTS-display-problem-Adobe.htm, but it is this solution really even more up to date?

Is it possible at all to work with Chinese characters, if I don't have the Chinese version of Illustrator? (http://www.proz.com/forum/dtp_desktop_publishing/221125-chinese_in_indesign.html)

The police you see that is applied when you paste? It seems, by default, illustrator assigns Kosuka Gothic Pr6N. try a different font as Adobe Heiti Std R.

  • Can I put Chinese and English characters in the same dynamic text box?

I translate a game in several languages, which is Chinese. I noticed that in an area of dynamic text where English characters are included, they are not displayed when the .swf is exported. The police is embedded in the document with the selected characters. It seems that any character language is initially displayed in the text box, the other language is impossible. For example, if there are Chinese characters first, then English, the English will not display and vice versa. No matter what work around on this? I use Flash CS5 and Actionscript 2.0. Thank you!

Use two different textfields, one above the other.  assign to the visible property of the textfield useless were false.

  • Chinese characters appear from nowhere, then using find and replace in dreamweaver

It is a strange, Chinese characters appear from nowhere, then using find and replace (in the folder) in dreamweaver. the replacement text is Chinese characters on the open document, others are ok

Sounds like the Configuration of your entire file is damaged.

Rename your folder Dreamweaver MX\Configuration Old_Configuration.

When you restart Dreamweaver, it will create a new Configuration file for you.

    Good luck!

Semantics of character BYTES can be used also with multibyte character sets.

Registry value for NLS_LANG Windows you mentioned supports the conversion of characters between customer Oracle and Oracle Database and is a potential problem, but if you use JDBC clients based (like SQL Developer) NLS_LANG is not used.
