Chinese characters in menus and system alerts.

Some menus (e.g. device menu submenus) and sometimes messages error statements show, which seems to me to be, Chinese characters. I think not all infections from the operating system with my security software and PC functions nominally. I'm curious to know why characters non-English alphabet would appear on the PC. The default language, as selected during installation, is English (United States). Anyone think I have been infected?, or is it rather an aberration? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi Kaab9193,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

Do you get these non-English characters when you run a particular application?

You can try to run a scan online and check if that helps.

You can also try the Microsoft Security Essential and check if there is any virus\spyware on your computer.

http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

If that doesn't help then try again to create a new user account and check if it is the same in this account as well.

To create a user account

1. to open user accounts, click the Start button, select Control Panel, click on accounts of users and parental controlsand then click user accounts.

2. click on Manage another account.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

3. click on create a new account.

4 type the name that you want to assign to the user account, click an account type, and then click create an account.

More information follow the below given link.

Original title: win8 cannot display Chinese characters on files

    Hello

Please help me with this problem.
I use windows 8 unique language and I practice with English as the language for my OS.
However, I found win8 cannot display Chinese characters on files and folders, they appear in blocks with unknown symbols.
I have no problem typing Chinese characters and all that.
    I tried this:

    a. press Windows key + W and the type of language.
    b. Select language, and then click Advanced settings.
    c. under substitution for Windows display language, click on the drop-down button and select Chinese.

But under substitution, I couldn't find the Chinese language.
Can help you with this? Thank you.
(I want to keep my OS ENGLISH language as usual)

    Hi Cai Li,

    Thanks for the update.

I ask you to uninstall and reinstall the Chinese language pack. Please refer to the same link in my previous post, to learn how to uninstall the language packs in the section: How to uninstall a language pack.

  • Database Toolbox and Chinese characters

    Hi all

I have a problem with a function where users can search inside a Microsoft SQL Server database for a specific entry.

I used the database with the DB tools tool run Query.vi, users can add keyword here for example. 'blue %' inside a control of the chain, then the request is passed to the DB.

    (e.g. SELECT field1 FROM TABLE1 WHERE FIELD1 LIKE N 'blue %')

That works very well in the German version.

Now, the application is also used in China. As long as they are looking for ASCII characters everything works fine also. Now, they began to create entries with Chinese characters (which also works), but when they try to pick up some Chinese characters, they do not get a result. (when searching for entries with Chinese AND English characters and search for English characters all works too)

I do not use the Unicode functions, and the database field is an nvarchar.

Unfortunately I don't have a Chinese Version of Windows to do a few tests here.

Anyone an idea what could be the reason (Chinese codepage?) and how to solve this problem?

    Thanks and best wishes,

    Helmut

    LabView 8.5 / Microsoft SQL Server 2008

You can try this test even without changine the code (language of non-unicode programs) page. First change your chain control '-' code display. In the places where the Chinese characters would appear, enter some hexadecimal codes above 7F by fleeing with a '-'. Here are the codes that are traditionally displayed differently depending on the settings of operating system as the language for non-unicode programs.

    UPDATE table

    Foobar SET = "test\AA\BB\CC\DD."

    WHERE the blah - blah

SELECT foobar FROM table WHERE foobar LIKE 'test % '.

The returned string has \AA\BB\CC\DD after test? Now try...

Foobar SELECT FROM table WHERE foobar LIKE '% \AA\BB\CC\DD'

Get something? Try it now with the N prefix...

  • Chinese characters in forms PHP and MySQL CS6

Hello. I followed then adapted from David Power dynamic Web Tutorial sites to set up a basic online dictionary site. MySQL works very well for 4 of the 5 fields - post_id, pinyin, and updated. But the main field is hanzi - which should have Chinese characters. When I enter them using a form, MySQL doesn't show that '? 'or'? ' in the fields. Similarly, if I manually enter the correct characters in MYSQL through PHPAdmin, bed Web site as '?

I did some research on this problem and found this page encoding or the ranking parameters may be the problem. So I put the 'MySQL connection classification"and the field classification table & hanzi to"GB2312_chinese_ci"for Chinese characters simplified. I also changed the encoding of PHP pages in < meta http-equiv = "Content-Type" content = text/html"; charset = GB2312"/ >

However, I will still have almost the same problems. Rather than get a value of "?"or"?" in the hanzi MySQL field, I now get variations "? ±«.

I am very new to PHP and MySQL, but as I said, the real pages and forms and queries are works well for all the fields with the exception of the character Chinese one.

    Help, please!

OK thank you fixed your advice, Kenneth.

I have been researching unicode & mysql and finally found this page that it started running properly: http://blog.al-aqel.com/programming/fix-and-store-unicode-in-mysql-php/

As you say, establish codes of characters and rankings mysql to 'utf8_general_ci' including the server, database, tables & fields.

Also, it is the addition of "mysql_set_charset('utf8')"; in my PHP pages this server accessed. This was in addition to affecting the UTF-8 character set in the page's meta tags.

Awesome! Now have working Chinese simplified in my PHP pages, forms and MySQL database.

Thank you again and hope that it might help others with similar problems.

It is a strange, Chinese characters appear from nowhere, then using find and replace (in the folder) in dreamweaver. the replacement text is Chinese characters on the open document, others are ok

Sounds like the Configuration of your entire file is damaged.

Rename your folder Dreamweaver MX\Configuration Old_Configuration.

When you restart Dreamweaver, it will create a new Configuration file for you.

  • Why the Chinese characters on the tabs appearring?

    Hello

I seem to have a problem. From time to time, which seems to be radicals/Chinese characters appear on my tabs - as shown in the picture. I "refreshed" firefox a few times, but I can't seem to identify where it comes from, or why it's happening.

I don't know if my system or the version of Firefox has been hijacked, or if it's an add-on that allows an intrusion. Well - really - I don't know what is happening.

    Any ideas?

    Too bad.

I see that it is the McAfee SiteAdvisor program that creates the problem.

I will contact McAfee about this and disable or uninstall SiteAdvisor.

  • OCR training on Chinese characters

    Hi all

I want to recognize the Chinese characters via OCR toolkit

In regard to English characters and numbers, I could train chacters several at once, say "abc123".

When I, however, form several Chinese characters, it will come out of bad character number warning popup.

In additional, it may appoint one character to several Chinese characters.

This means that I have to form Chinese characters one by one, never all of the characters?

Chinese characters are not 'effective' for the toolkit characters LabVIEW OCR to process individual and may not treat them together to deal with.

Could someone give me some suggestions? Thank you very much.

I think that Chinese characters are represented in the operating system by several characters, probably a sequence of two characters.  Even if it is displayed as a single character, for LabVIEW, it seems that you type two characters.  It might be interesting to verify this by checking the length of the string in LabVIEW.

I think that the formation of character both would work well.  If you do a lot of training, you could write a quick utility that loop over each unknown character and ask the correct character, resulting in the formation of a single character at a time by a long sequence of characters.

  • Chinese characters on Windows 7 often appear as boxes.

First of all, I'm not a newbie to Windows. I have a bit of technical expertise and I tried to find a solution to the problem below for awhile. I found a solution that works briefly, but the problem always comes back. I have this problem on two (!)  PC and I discovered that I'm not the only one affected by this, so I hope that someone at Mircosoft may file a bug report. It is not silly user problem, it's a software problem.

Here is the description of the problem:

On both of my Windows 7 64-bit systems of Chinese characters are often displayed as empty areas (squares) in programs such as Notepad or in iTunes. Chinese fonts are installed on my system, so it is not related to missing fonts. I know how temporarily make the characters appear correctly - as described below - but the problem returns.

I discovered that it seems to be due to a cache of police corrupted. When I delete the C:\Windows\System32\FNTCACHE file. DAT and restart the computer, the problem disappears usually. However, after a few days the Chinese characters are mixed again and I need to delete the cache of the police again. Sometimes, they're still broken after a reboot and I need to delete the cache of fonts and restart several times in a row.

I have two PCs running Windows 7, and two of them show this behavior. When I tried to find a solution on the Internet, I found many other people having the same problem. As much as I know it doesn't seem to be a solution from today.

I have all the latest software patches installed and my systems are fully patched. Last year, I had no such problem. He has only begun to show until a few months ago.

Please, can someone at Microsoft report a bug on this issue?

  • Only a few Chinese characters appear as a rectangular box

    Hi all

I use Windows 7 Enterprise SP1. When I boot my system and first of all use the browser chrome and access Hotmail /asana websites, it's corrupt fonts and

only a few Chinese fonts for some characters (not for all) are displayed as rectangular boxes and also sometimes only for "BOLD" fonts, it is coming as rectangles.

If I copy the Chinese text into wordpad and choose a font as SimSun, Arial Unicode it may appear correctly, but for default windows 7 police segoe UI and other fonts like Microsoft without serif, it shows rectangles for a part only of the characters. It is very annoying and a serious problem for usage.  In this case whatever settings system locale.

Could you let us know that Microsoft has already given solution to avoid this kind of corruption

    Rgds/prams

If the problem is only apparent in Chrome, then it's probably to do with the browser, or a

Add browser could be installed for the browser.

-Try to disable recent Add ons, or by reinstalling the browser. Restart between uninstalling and

    Reinstall the browser.

  • How to display Chinese characters in Windows 7 Home Premium?

I see Chinese characters very well in my browser, but all I see are boxes instead the characters for the programs on my computer (running Windows 7 Home Premium). What I want to know is this: is there a way to display Chinese computers in windows?

Before I am flooded with a bunch of useless answers telling me to install the "language pack", I must repeat: I'm under Windows 7 HOME PREMIUM. Yes, I tried going to Microsoft Updates and download the language pack. Unfortunately, I can't see the link for me to download the language pack, since I am running Home Premium, but in operating systems, the ability to see the other languages has been included. In other words, just because I'm running updated the operating system compared to some of the older operating systems, I don't see another language, unless I pay update.
    Seriously, Microsoft? Seriously?
Also, I have in fact look around here to try to find a solution to my problem. Unfortunately, no one ever really answered it. Because the only problem here seems to be a complete disregard of the user and the will to pull as much money on Windows users unhappy. Windows, that is why your stock is lagging. And why I must say that you are unable to many ways to Apple. But if there is a solution, please, by all means, I'm willing to change my assessment.
    Sincerely,
A frustrated and unhappy Windows user.

Well, the answer you don't hear or see is the only solution.

    Take or leave.

Note: Multilingual User Interface Pack MUIs are available in Windows 7 ultimate through Windows Update as optional updates. They are not installed automatically. If you are using Windows 7 Enterprise, contact your system administrator for more information about installing additional languages.

Follow the steps mentioned below to get additional languages.

    (a) open Windows Update by clicking the Start button. In the search box, typeUpdate , and then, in the list of results, click Windows Update.

    (b) in the left pane, click check for updates , and then wait while Windows searches the latest updates for your computer.

    (c) if updates are found, click on Select optional updates.

    (d) select the MUI that you want, and then click OK.

    (e) click install updates.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
