Update disk for Satellite Pro 4340

Hi people,
I own a SatellitePro 4340. 10 GB HDD inside now is much to small. So I decided to upgrade the laptop
with the hard disk of 40 GB or 80 GB lager.
My questions are:
1 is this possible upgrade
2. What is the biggest hard drive I can use (GB)?
I'm using the latest BIOS 2.70
3. What is the size (dimensions) of the HARD drive I have to
use? 2.5 "? What top?
4. when the HARD drive is located in the notebook?
5. can you explain the exchange procedure? -Open Notepad.

Thank you for your support.

Hello Belinda,.

You should be able to change your laptop HARD drive without using an ESD wrist strap. It is worth "land" yourself in any case to make sure that you don't carry a lot of static accumulation, but a wrist strap is really required only when working close to RAM or graphics or advice chips.

I don't know exactly where the HARD drive is on your laptop, but if there is no immediately obvious on the bottom access panel and the edges of the device, it can be accessed in the optical drive (the A30 Satellite for this), under the keyboard, or under the battery.

Don't gorget you need to transfer the caddy Assembly to the new drive and remove/replace the drive with caution to avoid damaging the pins.

Good luck

I only want to hear from people who actually know something useful or have a direction helpful to direct me in - but please don't say no 'contact your service partner' or I'll get out you my hair! Hello

There is no internal DVD burner for this camera! It is a SIMPLE fact. He must accept it.

Only a DVD - ROM drive or a CD - RW drive is available by Satellite Pro 4340.
I won't say that you will need to contact the ASP because you won't get it.

  • Updated BIOS for Satellite Pro U200?

    Hello

does anyone have any experience with BIOS version 1.3 for Satellite Pro U200? I've upgraded to this version of the BIOS and have had several problems since then - shortened wireless keyboard does not and display the overflowing of installation brightness to name two.

In addition, as I noticed last week, upgrading the BIOS can not be downloaded more and there is no alternative - just says download page don't: "no BIOS upgrade for this product! Is there anyone that has 1.2 BIOS so that I can try to downgrade to this version?

What is your experience with BIOS 1.3?

    Hello

    It s really strange?  :|
I checked the BIOS for Satellite U200 and Satellite Pro U200 download section, but I put t found any BIOS download at this time.

A few years ago the authorized service provider has installed an older version of the BIOS on my Tecra friends unit.
I guess that he should be able to do it on your Satellite Pro U200.
The other possibility is to wait for a newer version of the BIOS.

  • Recovery CD and CD of the utility for Satellite Pro 4340

I maybe reinstall my system soon on my 4340, but I don't have the recovery CD or utility. Can someone tell me the numbers of Toshiba for these to a 4340 running Windows 2000 Professional?

Also, how many models in the range of 4300 is a recovery of different CD exist for? i.e. is there a recovery CD CD/utility for a 4340 and another (and therefore different numbers) for recovery for others CD 4300 series computers laptops Satellite Pro, or a recovery CD are suitable for a number of models of the 4300 series?

My thought here is that if I set one to one laptop 4300 series different eBay - if I know that it is compatible with my 4340 I could always buy. Without this knowledge I could buy something that is not good for me. By the way, is it possible to always buy recovery CD for portable 4300 series from Toshiba?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hello

If you have lost your recovery CD, you can install the original OS from Microsoft. All Toshiba drivers that are on the utility CD, you can find the Toshiba site. In addition, if you want to buy an original Recovery CD Utility and you can contact the service partner.
Exactly the information that you find on: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
As far as I know that all recovery CD has a different number because there is produce with different languages. For example: a German restore CD got another number as Polish recovery CD.

  • Updating BIOS for Satellite Pro 4600

    Hello everyone,

I'm trying to update the bios and I followed the instructions, but I don't know what the problem is.

    1 - download the files
2 - unzip them filed in a non-bootable disk is.
3 - restart the computer with the disk in.
    4 - press f12 during startup.
5 - nothing happened, the system asks me remove the disk, but nothing is updated.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello

I found this statement to update the Toshiba BIOS for this series of portable:
1 extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a formatted floppy disk (please see note below regarding the type of disk to use).
    2. make sure that the laptop is plugged into the sector.
    3. turn off the laptop.
    4. turn on the laptop with the F12 key. Press and hold until a short beep can be heard.
    5. the message "ready for the update of the BIOS. Place the BIOS update floppy in the drive and press any key when you are ready to move forward"will appear.
    6. place the floppy disk containing the BIOS upgrade in the floppy drive and press a key. FDD access will begin.
    7. When prompted by the message: "Please push the RESET switch (or turn the AC OFF power off / WE) to restart" remove the disk and press the RESET switch (if available) or turn the system off and turn it on again to restart the laptop.

But note; Update the BIOS is always risky! If your laptop works ok, then update the BIOS is not really necessary!

  • Update disk on Satellite Pro L10

I've got a L10 Pro of the Satellite with a MHV2040AT hard drive, which runs at 4200 RPM. Is it possible to change it to a MHV2080AH because it works at 5400 RPM?

    Hello

The speed of the HARD drive should not be a problem. Especially the 5400 RPM HARD disk are compatible.
The size of the HARD disk is more important than the speed of the HARD drive.
Your old MHV2040AT HARD drive supports a 40 GB. The new MHV2080AH supports 80GB.

Sometimes the BIOS can not recognize the HARD drive because of the large size but I think that the 80 GB HARD drive is compatible and the BIOS should recognize as well.

  • Updating BIOS for Satellite Pro R50-B-14U

    Hello

I try to install the update to the bios, version 1.30 downloaded from toshiba.

But start with get a compatibility error:

the bios package is not compatible with this computer.

    How can I fix it?

    Thank you.

Okay, so I assume that you have installed the Windows 8.1 system only, but you have not installed drivers Toshiba key available on the Toshiba UE driver page.

To update the BIOS, Toshiba essential app must be installed...
If they win 8.1 you must install the driver for the Toshiba system!

  • Update disk for Satellite M30X-102

    Hello

No one knows what drives I can install in my M30x?
Currently, I have a 40 GB toshiba drive. I would like to know if BIOS supports more than 80 GB drives.
    Thank you!

    Hello

Well, I quite agree with the position of the user of the comments above.
If you use a disk HARD with size is not compatible if the BIOS does not recognize the HARD drive successfully.
You must use the HARD drive with the size of the support.
But in your case the Satellite M30X should support 40 GB HARD disk sizes / 60 GB and 80 GB 5400 RPM and a size of 100 GB HARD drive at 4200 RPM.

    Goodbye :)

Why I can't download the biosupdate on your Web page?

Don t know why you couldn't download the BIOS of Toshiba Europe page.

Seems that there is nothing wrong with the page, but maybe with your laptop settings (IE, Firefox, etc.)
