Update disk on Satellite Pro L10

I've got a L10 Pro of the Satellite with a MHV2040AT hard drive, which runs at 4200 RPM. Is it possible to change it to a MHV2080AH because it works at 5400 RPM?

Hello

The speed of the HARD drive should not be a problem. Especially the 5400 RPM HARD disk are compatible.
The size of the HARD disk is more important than the speed of the HARD drive.
Your old MHV2040AT HARD drive supports a 40 GB. The new MHV2080AH supports 80GB.

Sometimes the BIOS can not recognize the HARD drive because of the large size but I think that the 80 GB HARD drive is compatible and the BIOS should recognize as well.

    Hello Belinda,.

You should be able to change your laptop HARD drive without using an ESD wrist strap. It is worth "land" yourself in any case to make sure that you don't carry a lot of static accumulation, but a wrist strap is really required only when working close to RAM or graphics or advice chips.

I don't know exactly where the HARD drive is on your laptop, but if there is no immediately obvious on the bottom access panel and the edges of the device, it can be accessed in the optical drive (the A30 Satellite for this), under the keyboard, or under the battery.

Don't gorget you need to transfer the caddy Assembly to the new drive and remove/replace the drive with caution to avoid damaging the pins.

    Good luck

  • Satellite Pro L10 - 135 no recovery disk, need to restore

    Hello

We have a Satellite Pro L10-135: Intel with Windows XP.

The laptop is a few years old and is full of spyware, my partner has also accidentally deleted some program files. I have removed all personal files and would like to completely reformat the unit as long as the plant.

But she lost the recovery CD. I tried to get them at Toshiba, but when I enter the serial number it says that its too old and the drive is not available. I also tried to find the Toshiba recovery disc creator, but on the menu start, is found instead it says Start > all programs > Toshiba > Networking or start > all programs > Toshiba > utilities.

I need the process to be fool-proof, because I'm not too confident with computers, so I would get a real restoration of Toshiba, rather than who to download drivers, etc..

Anyone know where I could buy or download the disc in the United Kingdom?

    Thank you very much.

It is always an issue with the old models of laptops, but what you can try is to contact the nearest Toshiba authorized service provider in your country and ask for help.
Maybe they have archived somewhere old recovery disc and can help you with this.

One last thing: very often, I see people offer on eBay recovery disks.
Check it out. Maybe you will be lucky and find the recovery for your model of laptop disk there.

  • Update BIOS Satellite Pro L10

I downloaded an update of the BIOS for my laptop Satellite PRO L10, when I try to install, I get the following message

The EW3I1A04 input file. WPH is not found, you must specify a valid file name to continue.

Before you take the BIOS update, you need to extract all files from zip archive.
Then, it should work without error message.

  • Satellite Pro L10: Recovery disk is not available

    HELO,
I lost my disc of recovery for Toshiba Satellite Pro L10.
Service in Poland say my only: Toshiba do not have this disc now.
    am I to do now?

I need to reinstall my system.

    Sorry, my English is bad.

    Hello

It s very strange because this device is not very old, and as far as I know you can order all recover cd. Toshiba should always have a copy of the CD or DVD. I can t believe that it s is not possible.
I would recommend asking EPA again or to call other ASP in Poland.

The second possibility is to install the OS from the Microsoft CD-ROM, and then install the drivers set and tools of Toshiba.
Such Toshiba things you will find on the page of the Toshiba driver.

  • Satellite Pro L10-103 - USB ports not working not

Hi, my Satellite Pro L10 - 103 USB Ports do not work. I tried different things and finally my Advisor rubbed my computer clean of all programs and operating system. After reloading of the set up disc and having lost my dear some programs I am no further forward. It still does not.

Anyone know if this means that it is a mechanical problem with the computer? (I use Windows XP). Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey Buddy,

As wrote Akuma did you use the Toshiba Recovery disk or the Microsoft Windows disk?

After installing XP, make sure that Service Pack 3 is installed. It contains important updates and can be downloaded on the official page of Toshiba.

In addition, try to remove all the USB ports on the Device Manager, restart the computer. Ports will still be recognized and ready to use once.

  • Satellite Pro L10 will not start the system

    Hello!

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L10, which won't work for some reason any.

The last time that I used it, it worked perfectly fine, but now all I get is a black filtered message on "windows starts do not successfully»

It indicates that the computer is not responding and asked me to choose one of the five options - safe mode, safe mode with network, security mode command, last known configuration, prompt or start windows normally.

There is also a 30 second countdown if I do nothing the portable samekh automatically.
It is, none of these things work.

Everything that happens with any option is to a thought very much time on things, then it goes to a black screen with a time/processing bar downstairs, then when that ends it turns itself off, samekh, mw windows page shows (with f2 and f4/f10? options) and the process is repeated.

He did about 50 times now and still nothing.
I tried the command ctrl/alt/del, I tried to turn if off and try again, I even opened the f options but I don't know enough about computers to do more.

    Help, please!

If possible I would like to get the computer on long enough to verify what documents I have on this subject before I can back up (if necessary) and restore it to the factory settings (as I predicted), or if this is not possible, I do not think that there is a lot to lose in this respect in any case, am prepared to take it all back to factory if necessary. I have all necessary installation CD and manuals to go with.

hope this makes sense and I gave you all you need to know.

    Thanks, B

It seems that the laptop is not able to boot the system, but I m not quite sure if it s because of the defective system or HARD drive corruption.
If it s just a system problem, the installation of the new Windows operating system should help you to get it resolved.

In case the HARD disk is defective, you need to replace the HARD drive and reinstall the system.

  • Can not get my Satellite Pro L10

I have a satellite pro l10, I tried to put my recovery disk in and she said keeping key c down when I start my computer but it does, nt work, how do I get this drive to work does anyone have an idea, s Please

    Hi James,

Press and hold the 'C' key is a specific shortcut of Toshiba to allow the laptop to boot directly from the CD. However, you can also select the CD-ROM as boot device in the BIOS, just press the F12 key when you see the Toshiba start screen for power over the process and you will be presented with a menu of the device selection. Tab just down to the CD-ROM and press to enter. The laptop computer should now boot from the CD.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite Pro L10: Question about saving the files on a CD

Please can someone tell me how I can save a typed document (produced in Word or similar) on the CD? I don't have a floppy drive on my satellite pro L10 portable. Have 'saved' music using the immediate recording before, but now need to record your actual work on the hard disk for transport to a pc with access to a printer.

When I tried it told me incorrect function, contact administrator (that's me!) I tried CD - R and CD - RW discs and neither would not let me save the file on it. would be grateful for any advice regarding this.

    Thank you

    Hi Roy,

First of all, you will ned to ensure that you have enabled logging on oprical drive you. For this a right-click on the CD-ROM in my computer icon and then selecting "properties-> recording. Make sure that "Enable CD writing on this drive" is checked.

Once you have done the above, you can simply drag the documents that you want to copy on the CD-ROM icon in my computer.

Note that the burning process does not happen immediately. Windows caches the files to be placed on your hard drive first and then you can burn all documents cached only once.

Alternatively, you may find that some third-party software has been bundled with your portable computer, which performs a similar function the standard Windows CD burn software.

    Kind regards

  • How to use Recovery on satellite Pro L10 with DVD drive broken?

    Hello...

I have a satellite Pro L10, which is virused. I need to recover Windows. Unfortunately, I can not, because the CD/DVD drive is borked.

I tried everything until and including the purchase of a laptop adapter HD, but my desktop computer is not a Toshiba so he does not have the recovery disk.

I've never had to use a "recovery disk" before, so I have no idea how it works - apparently there should be a folder on my hard drive recovery? can someone tell me where I could find it? (I'm quite familiar with the innards of my installation of Windows and have never noticed before). Also, is it possible that this native recovery file has been compromised by my virus?

Default: can it be fixed using an installation of LAN, and if so, could someone point me to instructions? (My BIOS allows booting from LAN, but not USB, which is irritating).

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

    Thank you.

    Hello

First of all you will not be able to use the Toshiba Recovery disk if you cannot use the CD/DVD drive.
Why? Because you need to boot from the CD of recovery if you want to install windows from the CD from Toshiba.

You ask how to boot from LAN?
Well friend; I doubt that you will be able to do.
First of all that this could be possible only if you have a RIS server.
The Remote Installation Services can be installed optionally on Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008.

It's really complicated and not easy for someone who has never done.
If you want you can google a little how to create REEFS but in my opinion it s advisable to buy and compatible CD/DVD drive because the STRANGE can also be used for other purposes

    Hey Buddy

What to say first of all that you will get not the official drivers for this laptop for Windows 7 or Vista.
This laptop is oldie and I doubt that pilots will be released.

By reading this forum threads I've noticed that most of the user using the driver on Win 7 OS Vista.
Maybe you should google for Conexant AC97 Vista driver and should try a Vista on Windows 7 driver

  • Max Memory for Satellite Pro L10

What is the maximum amount of memory that can be installed in Satellite Pro L10? When I bought the laptop in 2005, it was 1 GB. This limit is now higher with the new BIOS, released November 6, 2009?

Satellite Pro L10 (PSL15E) can manage with only 1 GB of RAM.
BIOS update has nothing to do with it and after the update of the BIOS, that this value will not be changed.

  • Satellite Pro L10: USB on and goes off when I try to use the USB modem

I have a mobile broadband usb t-mobile I want to use it on my Satellite Pro L10.
When I attach to one of the usb ports then the laptop it is, but it loses then every 10-15 seconds (without interruption).

I'm on XP Pro and usb Sockets work very well for a USB and a printer.
I also tried to fix via a hub with external power usb and a pcmcia card with usb port, with exactly the same results.

It works perfectly on my wifes laptop, it seems to be a conflict or a software problem.
I flashed the bios and updated as well as seems relevant that I can.
I continue updating the drivers etc, but in the meantime, I was wondering if anyone had any bright ideas?

A healthy idea of mind is considered, it is starting to drive me up the wall! Mike

    Hey Buddy,

T-mobile USB broadband have you? I mean if you could tell us what model you have maybe we can discuss it further. By the way: you said about your wife the USB - stick works machine. What operating system your computer laptop wife´s have?

Would be interesting to know these facts; either by the way, I think it s more programs given that your material seems fine.

Would appreciate feedback of your regarding your question.

  • Satellite Pro L10 - PCI on motherboard at boot error

    Hey,.

    I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L10.
This weekend my laptop works normally.
But now for some reason when I boot I get this error message:

Resource conflict - mother PCI card
    Bus: 02, device: 01, function: 00
F1 F2 for Setup to resume

I can still get into Windows (XP SP2) and the computer works normally, but the error message is a gene.
I've also updated the BIOS to the latest version that I could find on the Toshiba site, but still get the error.
I guess that it is a hardware problem, maybe something is broken/failing?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

I m not 100% sure that this error could say, but I guess that the PCI device (perhaps a card) connected to the bus 2 causes this error message.

Maybe this could be a PCMCIA controller that is responsible for the PCMCIA card.

Did you check your device manager for errors that are indicated by yellow exclamation points?

Please check if one of the devices listed in the Device Manager does not work properly.

    Good bye
