Update error 80070246, 31 updates won't install

I'm having absolutely no chance to fix this problem. I tried the fixes mentioned in these forums without success. I also deleted and re installed my antivirus. I have an Acer laptop with Vista preintalled if I do not have the Vista disc.
I am concerned about the lack of all IE security updates.
Thank you
H

  • I have 36 updates won't install, get the error Code 8000FFFF + Code 3715

    Code 8000FFFF + Code 3715 is in my Windows Update.  I have 36 updates which will not be installed.  Mr. FixIt did without touching!  I did research for months for a solution to the Code 8000FFFF, just to finally get 3 or 4 new files update.  They settled, but then the second error, Code 3715 appeared.  I have a Compaq PCSR5501P Tower, 3 GB of RAM and 4 GB ReadyBoost (at recommended setting) with Windows 32 bit Vista Home Basic SP2 and ESET Smart Security 5.  Also, I have a Seagate 2 TB external drive.  It was not connected during this period for months, then Windows Defender found a registry error about this.  I removed it to the Defender.  I consider myself to be a bit smarter than the average bear, but it beats me.  I know it's 9 out of 10 times it simple!

    OK, the technophiles who takes up the challenge of can make a grinder monkey out of me?

    Thanks a lot for the people who understand and care to share.

  • Error 0 x 80070002 won't install or update applications on the store

    I'm FURIOUS. I just brought my new laptop at home, installed Microsoft Office (home and the office, because God forbid a computer come with word-processing capabilities, everyone in the world needs, have to pay extra for that!). Although I bought the computer mainly for typing my college papers and by checking my email, I thought that maybe the fabulous new Windows 8 can be fun to play with. EVIL. It would be nice to Skype with my family who lives across the country, but Skype will not install, ERROR 0 x 80070002. Hmmm, well let me try a musical application, ERROR 0 x 80070002.  Nothing will work. I googled my question, searched this forum and cannot find an explanation that isn't in the jargon of the tech with 500 markets. Why is it still a problem? I was an avid PC user all my life. I can't believe I spent just as much money for something that doesn't work.  Not only is there a problem with applications, but I am unable to connect to my Yahoo email account, and when I open my Word program, there is a small yellow alert in the upper right telling me that it cannot connect with my windows account.  I lost my entire evening trying to solve these problems. If there is a simple solution, I am interested and you will appreciate the help. I don't understand why a person can take home a new PC and really enjoy it.  I was really interested in the new Windows 8, unfortunately it seems that I rarely use it unless there is a simple solution.

    I have already tried the link that checks all your devices, security, etc. and you have restarted my computer several times.

    What I have done is changed the script above to be a script coverage. He was able to fix all the 67 apps that give me bad.

    It's here (use CTRL-X and choose command line (Admin)):

    PowerShell ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage-DisableDevelopmentMode-register "c:\program files\windowsapps\*\AppxManifest.xml".

    If you run this, you can see some red errors, do not worry, they are just letting you know that it cannot save a previous version of an application already updated.

    It took almost 15 minutes to run, but all my apps are now updated. It's a problem for me for a good time!

    Thank you

  • IE8 Update won't install - update Cumulative security for IE8 to Windows XP (KB2360131).

    I was alerted to an automatic update titled "Cumulative Security Update for IE8 to Windows XP (KB2360131)."  I think that he has downloaded, but whenever I try to install it, the process fails.  In other words, I click on 'Install', initialization takes place and then it appears the installation, but it fails.  No error code is given, only one window that opens to say "some updates could not be installed."  I see that some 7 and Vista had problems, but does anyone have suggestions for XP SP3?  Thank you.

    Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself.

    [You may want to print these instructions for reference offline. If a step said to reboot, reboot.]

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall all Norton software (including LiveUpdate and everything Norton Add ons)via Add/Remove programs.

    4 IMPORTANT! -Online activate Windows Firewall immediately after the restart.

    NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) until you have completed step #7 below!

    5. double-click on the file that you saved in #1 above to run the utility.  DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    6. do a clean install of NIS 2011 (using your product ID, if need be) & reboot. CF. http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080514162318EN

    NOTE: Do NOT activate or install additional modules of Norton (for example, Norton Anti-Phishing) immediately.

    7. manually and repeatedly run LiveUpdate (Norton) until you get a prompt "no update more".

    8. open IE8 to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 & run the difficulty.

    9. for good measure, also open IE8 (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 & race that secure it in DEFAULT and modes and AGGRESSIVE. [1]

    10. restart once again & test.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    [1] full Disclosure: the difficulty operating in AGGRESSIVE mode will remove your update history but not list the updates installed in Add/Remove programs.
    Can someone help me with this, please?
    I keep getting messages that I have updates installed, but after going through the motions, I get this message:
    "Updates were not correctly configured. Returning from the changes. »
  • Update won't install but keep popping in at each stop
    I have the following update online for installation at each stop, but it always fail to install:a security update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB973923)
    The original was installed a few days ago by Cakewalk SONAR X 1 (last version of a digital audio workstation software, launched in December 2010).  Must also say that my PC is brand-new, Win 7 Professional has been installed about a week (own) and many updates have taken place without any glitch.
    Although I tried to do it before the shutdown process (i.e.: call on Windows update and try to install right in front of me), the process always fails.
    So: is there a way (should I try) to get rid of him, or is it installed so it stops redownloading and online to install at each stop? (It's very, very annoying).
    Thank you
    Rob
