Update Firefox wiped out all my suggestions!
I'm getting rather fed up with Mozilla Firefox. First the nag UPDATE cannot be disabled despite the fact that I chose the setting "never check the updates." Firefox does not take into account this preference and returns to either automatic, or "check and let me choose.» WHO started the mess. Listen to please the FIREFOX developers: I DON'T want allows you to control my updates. Too often in the past, you more or less forced an update on me only to train my duty reset EVERY preference and Add on, I had already installed. When I complained of this failure of Firefox to remember my preferences to update, I learned that I needed to update to 20.0.1 as 19.0.1 had "security vulnerabilities". You know what, at this point I don't care, especially if I have to go through all this shit just a decent browser. Nevertheless, I gritted my teeth and updated. Right out of the gate, the HOME page hijacked Google as my home page and do not go far. I have reset everything back to Google and then the browser open Google well, but was immediately directed to the damned WELCOME page... whenever I started the browser. I tried everything I could but nothing worked. The next step was to RESET Firefox. Well, it resets. Boy it reset. I am now facing reinstall EVERYTHING including ALL my modules, extensions... EVERYTHING. I am really annoyed at the arrogance of Mozilla, assuming THEY know what's best for my machine and my preferences. I really hope that solve you this Mozilla. I don't know I'm not the only one who is tired of having to redo everything every time that an update coming... which, BTW is quite frequent.
Thanks for your reply, the-edmeister.
My staff S-O-P is to avoid the facilities unsupervised as much as I can. Since I generally distrust of MicroSoft, and over the years, found the Windows Add/Remove to default, I use Revo Uninstaller. Not 100% effective given my ignorance of Cybervillage but, perhaps foolishly, reassuring. So when I advised through FileHippo Firefox or any program, has an update, I have download and then install the Revo. In all cases (automatic update through the help that you suggest; complete crushing/installation manual by the heel), I still think that there should be a solution that would prevent wipe out of my preferences for Firefox, especially as, at least in my case, and especially under the new regime to release frequent update It has become an almost regular event.
Thanks again.

Refresh wiped out all the bookmark and browser settings
Firefox suggested I do a Refresh to speed up the browser etc. I did it and everything has been wiped out. Firefox logo appears in the start bar but when I click on it see no firefox browser, totally empty tabs. All the bookmarks wiped out all three browsers I use: Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. I'm totally in trouble.
When you reset Firefox and a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, data form) are automatically imported and the current profile folder will be moved on the desktop to a folder "Old data Firefox".
Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, Pref.) that you have made are lost and must be redone. It is possible to retrieve the data from the old profile, but be careful not to copy the files corrupted to avoid transporting more problems.
- http://KB.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
Do a clean reinstall and delete the program folder before Firefox to (re) install a new copy of the current version of Firefox.
- Download the full Firefox installation program and save the file to the desktop
https://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/all/
If possible to uninstall your current version of Firefox to clean the Windows registry and settings in the security software.
- Do NOT remove the "personal data" when you uninstall your current version of Firefox, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data such as bookmarks and passwords including data profiles created by other versions of Firefox.
Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- (32-bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
- (Windows 64 bit) "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla.
- It is important to remove the Firefox program folder to delete all the files and make sure that there is no problem with the files that were the remains after uninstallation.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but do NOT delete personal data when you uninstall Firefox which removes all Firefox profile folders and you lose your data.
If you keep problems also create a new profile.
It is possible that your security (firewall, antivirus) software blocks or limit Firefox or the process of plugin-container without you inform, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.
Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and allow your firewall to ask permission to get access full and unrestricted, again to install for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

Can anyone help?
I have just completed an update, and I thank the powers that my laptop keyboard and touch pad were not killed. It wasn't the update of Windows 10, my system thinks that it is still on the 8.1
I ran the Dell driver update and it goes on to say that he wants to update my "chipset" and when I click on 'install', it downloads and installs, but nothing changes after that I reload. I re - run the update driver and he said he wants to update the "chipset" again.
Nothing on the USB ports work, the touch screen does not work, the lights do not work, the audio does not work.
I can't start a Alienware applications to search for updates.
I feel the irony that it happened just as my warranty ended.
I updated the firmware of the BIOS, chipset and another driver using the Dell diagnostics. Nothing seems to change.
I tried several suggestions and he is the one that worked:
1. open the Device Manager and go to the USB section
2. click on each device in the USB section and uninstall
3. when they are all gone, right click on any device and select 'Search hardware updates'
He turned immediately on all my ports

A virus has wiped out all my files .dll.
How to restore them without destroy my windows installation?
Hello
and make sure that your computer is malware free
an anti-virus can not find any problems
you need to scan with a good anti-malware program
Download update and scan with the free malwarebytes anti-malware version
http://www.Malwarebytes.org/MBAM.php
also run the sfc/scannow command.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833
Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-clickguest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
- Type the following command and press ENTER:sfc/scannow
The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions
If SFC detects the main problems it can't fix you may need to borrow a Microsoft dvd vista not an acer, HP etc. recovery disk and do a repair installation
read the below tutorial on how to perform a repair installation

I have a MacPro. Recently, my computer was wiped out. I lost all my software. I bought CS2 years ago. I've updated by buying CS5 a few years later. My CS software is automatically updated by Adobe several months ago. Now, when I need to reinstall my software I can not do. I need to reinstall CS2 before I reinstall my CS5 update. However, my computer accepts no more CS2 software. How can I return my software?
I need to reinstall CS2 before I reinstall my CS5 update.
It is not necessary. You need only to re - install the latest version you have (full version or upgrade - all versions include the complete program code, it is the serial number that distinguishes plenty of upgrade)-even on a machine that has never had any installed Adobe software.
The installation program will ask you to enter the serial number from a previous version to verify that you qualify to use the upgrade.
Which is the last version that you own? CS5 or CS6? You have all your serial numbers?
You can download the latest version of download and Installation Help | Download and Installation Help
Install and enter your serial number.

A Firefox update yesterday, November 22, 2016, wiped out my home page setting. The home page was a complex URL with some custom settings for a site. Why this get wiped out in the update and where can I find this setting to restore? This is unacceptable behavior for an update!
Your Firefox perform a refresh during the update? If so, you should find your old profile folder (settings) on your desktop in a folder called old data from Firefox.
If you find that the file prefs.js will have your old home page setting.
Don't double-click a .js file, because Windows will be executed as a system script. Instead, right click > edit the file to open it in Notepad or right click > open with choose a different text editor. Then find the line starting with:
user_pref ("browser.startup.homepage"
and who should have the setting you need (do not include the beginning and end "when you copy / paste to the Options of Firefox page").

Running Windows 7 with all updates. Starting with version 29.0.1 of Firefox, Firefox often hangs when I go out. When you restart Firefox, I get "Firefox is already running but is not responding... ». I then have to manually stop firefox.exe * 32 front I can restart the program. I applied all of the suggested fixes (disable all addons, extension and themes), and made sure I can delete the parent.lock file. Also noted the closing delay mentioned with Vista user. I have the error message occur several minutes after the release of Firefox, although I have often used the X button at the top of the right screen to exit Firefox always without any problems in the past. The function of this key has changed too?
In any case, I use now exit the menu button drop down, but still have the problem of blocking. This is a bug in Firefox 29 where Firefox crashes out when the setting 'clear history of Firefox closing' is selected.
If you use custom settings for history in your Firefox Privacy options and selecting 'Clear history of Firefox closing', remove the checkbox. See this article for more details:

9.1.3 update wiped out my apple ID
9.1.3 update wiped out my apple ID, I tried several times to access my original account who 5 years also lost in my notes, important information
all released for the games have gone, photo all gone, all the friends on line went app.
I will never again after that Apple has caused the problem in the first place, if the activation server was working properly when he should have, I would still have my original account.
I don't know how or why you would lose your Apple updating the iOS software ID. This seems rather unlikely to me. I'm not doubting that you experience a problem, but as far as I know, it is impossible to lose your ID. Perhaps if explain you in detail what happened and what you're trying to do to collect the ID, we may be able to help.
You have several Apple ID? You made your original ID defence and that leads me to believe that you have more than one.
You can also try to contact Apple for help, if this is beyond anything that you can do yourself.

I have reviewed all my updates and old data files and exe was recorded with different .extensions I can't open because they have been modified during the crash of the update. I have no icon of Firefox on my desktop. I really need to restore to my last good version because it has all of my passwords and vital bookmarks and links to this topic. Thank you very much for your help in advance!
Hi Hyrum,
You should take a look at article of knowledge Update Firefox to the latest version. There is much good information in there and some troubleshooting as well operations.
If this does not work, you might want to try to install a new copy of Firefox:
http://www.Mozilla.org/firefox/new/
I suggest that you first back up your personal data and bookmarks, just in case. You can find the details in the article back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox.
Hope this helps!

I've updated firefox and all my saved passwords have been deleated. I have an "old firefox data' folder and read earlier that the logins.json and signons3.txt files can be placed in my new firefox. Does anyone know how to do this?
There is a new Firefox profile folder created?
This "Old data Firefox" folder created recently because Firefox creates this file when you reset Firefox?
