Update hard disc on Satellite L350 - 10L

Hello

Anyone has improved their Satellite L350 - 10L for one SSD hard drive and if so, have you noticed a difference and the big question, was easy?

Thank you
Chris

Hello Chris

Very long ago I had Satellite L300 and this series is known for me.
At that time I didn't even think about these updates.
The Satellite L Series notebooks are machines of low budget and hardware configuration is not one that suits.
In other words, they are designed for daily activities. I can understand that you may want to increase the performance of your hardware, but my personal opinion is that the SSD is not the best solution. In my opinion you should not spend a lot of money for upgrades. Memory improve maximum and that s.

What do you think of all this?

For several seasons, I want to replace the hard drive of 80 GB (Toshiba MK8026GAX) on my Satellite Pro M40X PSM4YE model.

I encountered the problem that the new a * WD Scorpio WD1200BEVE drive * (120 GB enhanced IDE) is not recognized in the BIOS.

    No solution to my problem?

    Hello

Sometimes a BIOS update help in such situations. Did you already check if you have the latest version of the BIOS on your machine?

The other point is: HDD´s not ALL are compatible, then maybe it would be good for you to take another disk and check it with this one.
Maybe it s just an incompatibility between your machine and the HARD drive?

It would be a sort of troubleshooting and I'd be happy to hear any comments from you. :)

  • Update hard disc on Satellite L20

    Hi all

I would like to change the hard drive of my Satellite L20-260...
I installed a hard MK4026GAX drive, I would like to replace it with a bigger... by taking a peek on the internet I found hard drives as MK8032GAX...

Yes, 80 is the size (80 GB) but 32 what means? Can someone tell me is this hard disk can replace my old (one broken too) a?

    Hello

I put t knows what means the 32 at the end of the number, but the disk HARD of MK8032GAX supports Ultra DMA/100 (ATA-6) interface.

To my knowledge the Satellite L20 260 supports serial ATA (SATA) interface.
You must use the s HARD drive that supports this and don t buy HARD drive that supports IDE interface because you will not be able to connect it to the laptop.

In addition, the compatibility of the BIOS is very important. In many cases, the BIOS cannot recognize the HARD drive because of the large size.
According to your post, the laptop supports 40 GB HDD s. In my opinion the 80 GB should work and should be recognized.

I recommend to visit the merchant of HARD drive in your area and ask for compatible HARD disk. Maybe you would be able to test it in the shop.

  • Partition of hard disk for Equium L350 - 10L

    Hello

I am a new owner of a L350 - 10L. Loading the files from the laptop, I was told that I had run out of space. Investigate a bit more it seems I drive hard havea partitioned. I think that I expect that the "valorisation" of files are stored on the hard drive. But the size of the partition seems a little odd to me. The disc has a pertition to Vista and a called E:\Data being 54.5 GB in size.

Question - can I safely reformat the hard drive? Should I run the Setup again. This seems a bit odd. Is there a reason for the size of partition?

    Kind regards
    Paul

    Hello
I have the same laptop. Download GParted LiveCD and boot inside. Then resize partition D:\ lower then resize the partition above C:\ with unallocated space. Is not wipe your data.

    Hope this helps,

  • Update hard disk for Satellite LT55-1NM

    Hello

My hard drive from Toshiba Satellite LT55-1NM died (he was a 640 GB)

I want to take the oportunuty to upgrade a higher capacity drive,

Are up to are my options? Type of disc? Max capacity etc.

    Thanks in advance!

    Atlantico

What you need is the new SATA HDD. You can of course buy HARD drive with more capacity.
In any case, I think you should maybe buy SSD and increase the performance of your laptop. I upgraded my Satellite phone with SSD and it runs much faster than before. I don't know if the capacity is so important to you, but I think the 500GB SSD would be the right solution for you.

  • Update hard disk for Satellite 1900 102

    Hi all

I used to work with a Toshiba Satellite 1900 102 since July 2002 and March my hard drive has stopped working (maybe it was time).
Where can I buy records 2.5 "that this series of satellites can be supported?

What is the maximum capacity (in GB) laptop that recognizes the old man?

    Thanks for all your help!

    Hello

2.5 hard drives can be bought anywhere I think then, either you contact an authorized service provider or you visit your favorite computer store.

I think that the Satellite 1900 limits the 28-bit LBA. This would mean that the size of the HARD disk is limited to 128 GB. The maximum capacity is 120 GB that you can use, but I think that 80 GB would be enough according to your amount of files you want to save on the HARD drive.

If you have any other questions please let us know! :)

  • Update hard disk for Satellite 1000 z2

I learned that I can only spend my hard drive Satellite 1000 to 20 GB. Please anyone know if that is correct? The laptop has a 6 GB at the moment.
    Thank you.

    Hello

I found the information that your device supports 15 GB of HARD drive. Maybe it's the official statement from Toshiba, but that you will be lucky with 20 GB of HARD drive. Try it!

    Good bye

  • Update hard disc on the special edition of Dell XPS-8900

Hello, I have a Dell XPS-8900 that I bought a few months ago, and you want to upgrade the hard drive.  There to 2, 7200 RPM hard drive + Cache SSD of 32 GB m2.  I noticed by looking at the disk management, it has 2 free sheet music; a 39 MB OEM Partition and 11.73 GB recovery Partition.  Both show that they are 100% free.  I created the recovery USB disk and it deleted the recovery Partition files.

Should I still have the Partition recovery or the OEM Partition?  When I switch to a new hard drive, is it possible to simply copy the partition of the OS?

Also, I thought that he would have an EFI System Partition.  Is that what I need or installation?

UEFI allows secure and start for 2 t boot partitions format: those are the two major differences, as well as the withdrawal of the restriction to have four primary partitions per disk.  Those who are not important here.

I don't think that there is a capacity limit on the m2 in height slot, but there is most likely a limitation of the physical size of the map itself which may restrict your ability.

You will get the best performance from the system running the operating system for one SSD drive for some.  You can easily find 2.5 "SATA SSD affordable up to 1 t in size now.  Drives 2.5 "tend to be less expensive than m2 format disks, although NVMe readers (whose prices are in the stratosphere), they are largely very reasonable in price for the exception.

I would not necessarily fear disks 3.5 "Toshiba - these are in large part the designs of Hitachi/HGST (Toshiba entered the market of disk 3,5 '' when WD resumed HGST - the Chinese Government opposed the consolidation to two manufacturers of records based in the United States and forced to WD to spin off plants making the disks 3.5" to Toshiba).  The HGST designs have a good reputation for reliability - much better than those of Seagate, for sure.

You are probably better off with a straight on the clone of the drive.  You can use the Windows Disk Administrator to change the partitions later.  I had the good luck of late with Macrium Reflect (free), but Acronis image works well - and Samsung provides a free version of it if you choose one of their SSDS.

    Hello

I have a laptop Satellite L350 - 10L PSLD2E and just have it downgraded to XP of the original Vista.

I have all the drivers set up were needed, that didn't they no yellow question mark in Device Manager.

My problem is that I can't change the properties of the screen.
The screen is high heat and using the button with number F6 FN does not bring the brightness.

All the options of the FN do not work.

Anyone can guide me please to sort it?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

Have you installed the common Module and Hotkey Utility?

The common Module software is an essential element for the use of the FN button.

    It should be installed first

Please download and reinstall. In my view, this should allows to get the functionality of the FN button.

  • New recovery for Satellite L350-170 discs save updates?

I just restored my Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit OS on my Toshiba Satellite L350-170, using the recovery disks that I created 4 years when I bought my laptop.

After you restore the operating system, it took the better part of a day to install all the Microsoft updates, including Service Pack 2 Vista and other programs that I use (e.g. MS Office, Real player, AVG etc.).

Now everything is up to date, I have created a new hard disk system restore point and run the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator. Just out of curiosity, will be created until the last restore point recovery disks or it again just the discs that I have, that restore it to factory settings?

If this only restores to factory settings, is there a way to create a system disk to get back to the point that it is now?

Creation of recovery disks has nothing to do with the points and restore your settings.
Recovery recorded on the HARD disk image is created long ago and contains all the necessary parameters created at this time.

Creator of recovery disc just copy this recovery image on empty media.

Whenever you use recovery discs, you will own BONES without updates and you must repeat this installation of additional updates.

  • Satellite L350-17Z: Question recovery disc creation - problem with calibration

I'm eager to get win xp instead of vista current on Satellite L350-17Z because some soft is not stable and vulnerabilities, while under xp on the desktop computer, I had no problem. XP compatibility mode is not solve this problem.

So I decided to do it in a cruel manner as a laptop is new and almost empty, not to mention the habit of hard drive xp. Still I tried to make a recovery, using TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator.

Buta * during DVD burning there is a fault and message about some problems with the calibration. I tried a few discs - same result.

    Hi Snen,

It would be interesting to know what CD/DVD drive you have. Maybe you should try to update the firmware of the drive. For some readers of Toshiba and Pioneer, the site shows an update of the firmware. It s worth a try!
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

And what kind of DVD that you use to create a recovery disk? I have good experience with the types of DVD - R and I use Verbatim.

  • Satellite L350 - 21Q - hard drive upgrade

I have a satellite L350 - 21Q and while to love him as a machine in most ways I think it would be benefited greatly a larger hard drive. With this in mind, I started looking for a suitable replacement and found a 1 TB drive in size and uses the SATA 3.0 connection.

I'm not sure if the machine will support the drive and so I look to you guys for help. Anyone know if the drive works with the machine, or is two opposites. If this is true can someone advise me what SATA type works and this as the maximum capacity of the space on the hard drive please?

    Thanks in advance :-)

Unfortunately, Toshiba provides some specific information on hard drives compatible and tested.
In my opinion you should not notice a few problems with this HARD drive. It is important that you use the HARD disk with SATA connector.

You can order the new HARD drive, test and if something does not such as you simply want to return.
Your comments are welcome, because we do not have precise information about these updates.

  • Cannot create Windows DVD, burning the disc - Satellite L350

Can someone help I'm on a Toshiba satellite L350
I'm trying to burn a DVD with Windows DVD maker. It is the fourth I've done and the previous ones were all OK.

I can't burn the DVD, I tried both types of disc and made about 10 attempts today.
When I try to burn it starts OK then I get about 34% and get an error message

I had two different error messages, it says "cannot create the DVD error unspecified.". "
The other says "cannot create DVD catastrophic failure"

As Akuma wrote, it can be a problem creating Windows DVD and has nothing to do with the functionality of optical disc drive. It is good to check the updates.

Can you test the WEIRD feature using a different burning application?

    Hello

Maybe it s disc HARD issue you may try to check if the HARD drive is recognized and listed in the BIOS. In order to access the BIOS, you will need to press F2, immediately after the laptop has been turned on.

By the way; here in the forum, you can find a category that offers useful movies how to replace a HARD drive:

Don t understand why you didn't check this in the past
