Update KB982214 repeatedly fails to install (Windows 7)

I was offered KB982214 daily since August and it has so far failed to install. Other updates have succeeded, including readiness system, but this one tool refuses stubbornly, even with manual installation. Error 800b0100 code.

My system is Windows 7 32 bit Home Premium installed again and with all updates. I use AVG Anti-virus and firewall Zone Alarm.

Does anyone have any ideas on this? How important is this particular update?

Hi dursleygull,

1. did you run the system preparation tool?

Try to download and install the update manually after placing the computer in a clean boot state.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

(a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

(b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

(c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

(d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

I hope this helps!

  • Each installation of the PATCH fails after installing Windows updates

    Hello

I would like to report a problem, I think it's a bug of Windows introduced by one of the Windows updates (unfortunately I could not know who of them).

    Here's the test scenario:
    1. install a fresh copy of Windows on a test computer
    2. install all the Windows updates available (so the system is up-to-date)
    3. create a sample MSI installer that installs only some dummy files (let's say Product Version 1.0.0) and host on a web server

    4. install the MSI from the online location using a command line like this:

    msiexec /i http://server/share/package.msi

    5. create a. Patch MSP (e.g. v1.0.1) which only adds a new file to v1.0.0
    6 install the patch v1.0.1

RESULT: the installation of the patch fails with the following error message: "the file name, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect."

    NOTES:
    1. the question has replicated to Windows 7 and 8 machines updated
    2. the question is not replicated on a new install of Windows without updates applied

Is anyone aware of what may cause this error? Once again the patch installation fails only on Windows computers with the latest updates installed.

    THX,

    Daniel

  • CC 2015 fails to install Windows 10

    I need help!

I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate for Windows 10 Pro. My previous hard disk was damaged, so I bought a new to install Windows 10, which means that I had to download new. Which includes! Creative cloud. I've downloaded the installation program, but when I run it it closes right after like 2 seconds. No error message, no notification of any kind. It just stops. It worked perfectly on Windows 7.

I tried as an administrator, did not work.

I tried the Troubleshooting compatibility and he says that it is not compatible, which is ironic due to the fact that the release notes on CC 2015 says that it is now compatible with Windows 10.

I'm in the middle of the finals at the College and I'm really desperate to find a solution.

Thank you for your help Jeff A Wright. I do not tried this last suggestion.

Instead I used the solution 2 of this topic error: "unable to install". Creative Office Cloud. It has helped me!

After following the instructions of "Solution 2: run the Adobe CC Cleaner tool" I re-installed the creative application of cloud and it now works!

    Thanks anyway!

  • Update for Windows XP (KB971029) repeatedly fails to install

Update for Windows XP (KB971029) repeatedly moved and I get the error: 0x80072EFD. Any help?

Consult the below Microsoft article and try the steps mentioned and check if it works.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/836941/en-us>

  • Update KB2446708 has repeatedly failed to install, citing 66A error code.

Optional updates succeeded where this is important and some recommended to those who do not. Help and troubleshooting suggestions were followed, but in vain. Is there a way to delete all updates failed and regain some lost speed, not to mention allow updates installed?

    Hi Ed,

First try the solution at this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=9cfb2d51-5ff4-4491-b0e5-b386f32c0992&displaylang=en&lc=1033.

If this does not work, remove Microsoft .net Framework 4.0 using the .NET Framework Cleanup tool http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx.  And then reinstall the Microsoft .net Framework 4.0 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=0a391abd-25c1-4fc0-919f-b21f31ab88b7&displaylang=en and then install the update, you are having problems with.

If this does not work, try resetting update (including a fixit) components: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

If this does not work, try a manual download by putting the KB numbers who fail looking here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx and download them directly and see if it works.

If this does not work, go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and remove content (but not the folder itself) and then restart.  See if that helps.

Remove updates failed won't find you any lost speed - although if it could be done, it might be useful save you some space (assuming that all who uploaded was saved even if it has failed).  It also will not help install new updates.  It's a totally different question that hopefully will solve the above.  If a solution works for some but not for all of them, then try the other options to see if they can help as well in terms of everything attaches.

If this does not help, please repost in the forum for the correct Windows version from: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_update?page=1&tab=all&tm=1300700638376.
