Update ODD to SSD (Vostro 3300)

Hi all!

I'll change optical disc of SSD in vostro 3300 [Admin NOTE: maintain the label removed in accordance with the TOU strategy], but I don't know what SATA type is used.

I'll be very grateful if someone gave me this information or tell where I could find it

Hi Artem,

The Vostro 3300 has a SATA 2 controller, but it should be compatible with all 3 SATA SSD.

    Hello
I change the optical drive from the with an ssd of caddy. In the bios, it's ok. I see my hdd and odd my ssd. I can not install. He stops at a black screen. I change the order of the bios and it starts on the hard drive.

I have ´ve had the latest updated bios. If I only put the ssd in the hard disk box, that's ok.

    Help, please

I think that the ODD port is designed for ODD only. SSD won't work.

  • Heating Vostro 3300 (I need information!)

Hi, I have buyed a Vostro 3300 with Core i5 without nvidia, only the GMA graphics card.

I have a problem, the laptop heats up in the rest of the right Palm and very heating on the touchpad, I use Linux, but I tried with Windows7 and I have the same problem:

I run the machine with powersave, processor runs at 1197 Mhz only, in idle temperatures of the machine are:

The CPU and the GMCH is normal (I think) but the PCH is 76C in idle mode with 5 minutes running, an hour that the PCH is higher than 80 c and my HD at 50 / 52C

If I put the CPU to rip a video (with the freq of performance) and the CPU is to go to 95 c, is it normal? the fan works (55 c).

I tried a PCH temperature on vostro 3000 series, but I can't find anything.

    * I have updated the bios to A02 is the last

    * I run 32-bit Diagnostics and everything is ok

    Office temperature is 22 c

    * Take the temperature with Everest Ultimate Edition 5.50.2100

    * The windows7 is a new installation with only dell drivers and nothing more, you can see that the CPU is 3% of charge, is not a virus or any other think.

I had the same problem. I cleaned it up, but was of no use. Then after searching on Google, I came to know that it was a software problem. Try this solution. Basically, this reduces your state of the processor.

  • Want DV6-7300ea problem of updating Bios with SSD

    Hello

Recently, I swapped my HARD drive to the STRANGE Bay and put an SSD in the startup location.  Everything works fine until it was update the BIOS to the new version F.26.  After having downloaded the update and run the .exe, the computer restarts and the normal blinking screen comes up - everything seems as it should and checks the update. Then, the system reboots and what I see is a black screen with the fan turns. He accomplishes this task for 30 seconds, then stops and goes through the same routine. I left for an hour, but no progress so I removed the battery and swapped the HARD drive in the main Bay. Put running the laptop and it displays the screen "Boot Block update" and continued to work as usual.

No idea why he won't not on-screen "update Boot Block" with the SSD in as peripheral to start?

When you start the update of the BIOS ROM file performs a check of the configuration of the laptop. The coding of the met the STRANGE unexpected update and configuration SSD as your laptop went into a loop. When you have returned the laptop on its original config that apparently satisfied with the softpaq update BIOS and completed its task. Now, we know the results of the portable non-standard configurations on the BIOS updates.

Thanks for posting this has happened and the final result.

  • Vostro 3300 memory upgrade problems

    Two Vostro 3300 comes with 4 GB (2x2gb v1.5).
Attempt to upgrade to 8 GB, so far without success.
    Most recent Bios A12

    Selector memory from crucial.com claims 4 GB DDR3 - 12800 CL11 1.35v

I tried three products G-Skill and Samsung, with identical results:

    (1) F3-1600C9D-8GBSL G-Skill (PC3-12800, CL9, 1.35v)

    (2) G-Skill F3-12800CL9D-8GBSQ (PC3-12800, CL9, 1.5V)

    (3) Samsung 4 GB 1Rx8 PC3L 12800 S-11-13-B4

No start normally, either as a single device, or in combination with existing memory (at the same voltage). All devices are recognized in the BIOS (as in 1066 MHz). After the splash screen of the BIOS, attempts to result in video starting Windows of interlocked block repeated altered in system and model freezes.

F5 MASTS fails with graphics corrupted after several minutes. System is not responding.
Memtest 86 + fails almost immediately (permanent or not) with a splash of black character cells

These characteristics seem to be compatible, but do not work.
Suggestions of compatibility (ideally based on real experience) would be appreciated.

The problem is simply that the Vostro 3300 (and probably 3400) require low-density parts, and all samples tested were pieces of high density.

The distinction of high-density/low-density is not explicitly stated in any literature I can find.

For critical parts at least, the two latest les deux derniers chiffres figures product code indicates the density.

For example, CT51264BF160BJ is a high density of part (BJ ends), while CT51264BF160B is a part of low density (ends in B). It seems that G-Skill and many others can use parts of high densities.

  • Tecra R950-104 - can I replace ODD with SSD?

    Hello

Is it possible to replace my DVD drive with an SSD with a HARD Drive Caddy?

My laptop is a Toshiba Tecra R950-104.

    Kind regards

    Luis

    Hello

I found on the internet some UltraSlim SATA HDD/SSD mounting frame that allow the use of 2nd 2.5 HDD/SSD drive instead of ODD in Notepad Tecra R950 but to be honest I m not 100% sure if the BIOS recognize such additional device.

I know that computers Toshiba laptop (Portege and Tecra) series different takes in charge these updates in the past but this replacement was not supported by each laptop model.

It depends on the BIOS and in the event that the BIOS recognize the 2nd HDD/SSD drive, the system should be able to recognize 2nd HARD drive

  • Update of small SSD at big SSHD or SSD?

I recently bought new x230T because of price special promo, however, I realized the disc somehow, the space is very small (128 GB), as I am a media professional I need more space.

I was wondering if it would be OK to replace the 128 SSD that was previously installed in the laptop which has install windows 7 with the largest capacity such as SSHD Seagate 500 GB? It would compromise the speed and performance if I switch to SSHD? I thought Samsung 840 250 GB SSD also, but I felt that 500 GB would be ideal to accommodate my needs of work (websites, videos, graphics, etc.).

If I use Acronis Migrate or software EZ move would be the new drive SSHD or SSD will work after replacement the same as the old SSD assuming everything goes normal including multi touch feature functionality, stylus and Tablet etc?

I look forward to your reply

    Kind regards

    Marty

    Welcome to the forum!

Stay with SSD - SSHD will be definitelky most negatively affect your laptop paerformance - and get good deals around you...

    Happy update.

  • Update Bios of SSD PCIE optimized

Hi, I would like to know if that optimized pcie x 4 NVMe SSD Bios Update will work on my VN7 - 791 G. It has listed for the VN7 - 792G as well as update the audio drivers Realtek that are not listed for mine (same Realtek audio though) so I see not why there is a conflict. Even with the Synaptics touchpad driver. I think maybe that the Acer update page is not up-to-date on my older Nitro.

I don't see how the Chipset Intel driver would not work (I think) because I am running Haswell not Skylake.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

It will not work to be short. The checkum will see that the BIOS is not designed for the G 791 and it will not install it.

Go where are you sure that 791G also has support of Nvme?

  • Updates for the SSD of 32 GB LITEON m2 on a special edition of Dell XPS-8900.

Has anyone successfully upgraded Cache SSD m2 on their system XPS-8900?

I have a Dell XPS-8900 that I bought a few months ago, and you want to update the cache of hard drive SSD m2.  The system has 2 to 7200 RPM hard drive + Cache SSD of 32 GB m2, 16 GB of memory (which I'm upgrading to 32 GB) and the processor i7 - 6700 k.

I tried to replace it with either the Samsung 850 EVO m2 250 GB SSD or the Samsung 950 PRO NVMe 256 GB SSD.  I read in another post on the forum that the limit for XPS-8900 in the m2 slot was 256 GB.  Anyone know if this is correct?

If anyone has any ideas on how I can change my system to tighten a bit more performance out of my system, I'd greatly appreciate your ideas.  It seems a little slow at startup and loading applications than I expected.

It is not necessary to install a larger disk for use as a cache - it won't do much (if any) for performance.  There is a valid argument by replacing the disk cache with an SSD of larger m2 and then by installing the operating system on this drive (that is, running in native mode of SSD).  That WILL stimulate the acceptable performance.

I doubt that there is a limit on the capacity of the drive - but there is no doubt about the physical size of the map itself.  Note that this system is NOT wired with an interface of PCIe 4 ways - then install a player is not worth the extra cost, because it will be limited by the design of the motherboard.

  • MacBookPro successfully updated for the SSD but old disk HARD not accessible as external drive

    OK people,

Successfully, I upgraded my MBP late 2012 to 1 TB SSD with the help of the community here. Thank you.

My old drive was an 8.1 El Capitan\Win Bootcamp and worked pretty well without fault.

I used the disk utility to clone the OSX partition and did a fresh install of Win10 through BootCamp.

    So far so good.

However, my plan was gradually transfer the files from the old partition Win 8.1 in the score of Win10 that I need them.

That is the problem. Win10 OS or my OSX recognize the old Win8.1 HARD disk partition. However, they both recognize the old OSX partition.

The two operating systems (OSX\Win10) was format\Initialise the old HDD when connected through a USB enclosure.

As a test, I swapped the old disk to the MBP and it started actual Win8.1 therefore the partition is accessible. Actually I'm in it starts now as I type this message.

Watch Windows Disk Manager partition as a RAW rather than NTFS where the desire to get in shape. I am reluctant to start playing with partitioning\recovery tools because I can access the drive while having to open the MBP, but it is accessible.

Is there a reason why the original HARD drive is not accessible as a normal external drive?

ATM my only option I'm looking at is a copy of right of ALL files in the Windows 8.1 on another disk partition so that I can easily access the files.

    Ideas or suggestions appreciated.

Try ejecting the disc (use disk utility), reboot and reconnect the drive.

I have a MacBook Pro Retina Display with 500 GB of SSD drive.  Is it possible to have Apple level to a 1 TB SSD?  500 is simply not good enough for what I use the MacBook for.

Apple does not level computers. If yours is a model 2012 or 2013, it can be improved with athird-party SSD.

  • Update K430 and ssd

Try to add an 840 Samsung evo to use as my boot drive and operating system. Just can not understand how to install it. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Dboat,

    Welcome to the Forums.

In addition to a SSD, you must get a fixation without screws for you to mount the SSD drive in the Bay.

After having mounted the disk, boot from the HDD stock and migrate the HDD to the SSD with Paragon Backup & Recovery Home 12 (free trial). Infusion of migration, boot into the BIOS and change the boot for the SSD sequence. Windows should now be able to boot from SSD.

  • 15 - af004ns: update hard drive SSD 15-af004ns

    Hello

How can I change my hard drive with an SSD? Is it possible?

    Thank you.

Yes, possible. Here is the Service Manual:

    Your manual

See page 40 for instructions on removing the hard drive. A 2.5 inch wide SATA SSD will be installed instead of the hard drive. The hardest part is migration/relocation of software, but if the old drive still works, you can make a recovery HP USB or Windows itself has a capacity of backup and restore.

Technically, the removal of the hard drive is not allowed for the consumer but HP assured us if you do without damaging the computer laptop, warranty won't be not taken away.
