• Update of security 2016-001 cause major accident

  I just updated the 2016-001 (Sep 02/16) security update on El Capitan v10.11.6 and it has caused a major system failure, twice.

  All applications are unusable, cannot load system preferences, constantly get "led unexpected resignations" error windows pop up that won't go away.   It wont let me report it to Apple and ignore just made another appear.

  First time I started to the Cmd - R system recovery and reloaded OS - X and spent a few hours fixing all the links of the app, then reloaded the updated security after several own boots and's done it exactly the same again.

  Having just now booted to safe mode and empty the contents of/Users/yourname/Library/Caches in the trash, but it made no difference.  Have a time machine backup of it is 6 weeks, but not yet used.

  Seems that I'm not alone... maybe Apple was too fast it rush out before the big event in next weeks...

  Trash content of/private/var/folders/and restart.

  I'm running OS X 10.9.5.  Whenever I tried to install the new update on the App Store, I am told that "a security update 2016-002 cannot be verified," etc.  I tried to go into safe mode and I am still unable to install the update.  I logged out and logged in the App Store. No difference.

  Someone at - it solutions?

  17 "macbook pro woman ceased to be able to use non-secured web connections after the update of 2016-003 - only the default URL for https seem to work at all.  Even the App Store does not work correctly.

  Simple question of El Cap here I hope...

  Anyone know why the last update of security (updated 2016-001) changed the version number? Now our Mac Book Pro and our iMac 5 k both show a build number of 15 1004. They had their own unique IDS. Which is what we used to identify our imaging process.

  Thoughts?

  We are the only users. We are not Apple. Only they can answer your question. For now, Apple wanted to change the version number to determine if the security update has been installed.

  Start in Safe Mode. What do you expect to make? You must do this:

  Reinstall El Capitan without erasing the drive

  Please make sure that you back up.

  2. Select disk utility, then click on the continue button.
  3. Select the withdrawal (usually Macintosh HD) entry of the volume of the list to one side.
  4. Click first aid icon in the toolbar. Wait until the button is active, then click it.
  5. Quit disk utility and re-enter the Utility Menu.
  6. Select Reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.
