Update of Windows Media Player stopped because it made my computer slow and now can't copy a CD
The constant update of the Player Windows Media caused me go into options and uncheck the library update that didn't work so then I went to the library to manage and delete music files, photos, videos etc, which made the stop of Windows Media updated, but now I cannot rip CDs and an error message saying "Windows Media player cannot extract one or more tracks. the CD"that has occurred only since I took these actions. I tried to back up my library, but the program I Include leaves nothing or I don't need to put in place the correct files. Help, please!
Hi Imogen...
Updates to the WMP library can slow performance, but if you want to extract the music you need to have a default save location which will usually be the music folder.
Under 'Organize' - managing libraries - music - click on the 'Add' button and restore the 'music' (or my music) by default and then click OK. The library must rebuild. Come back if you're still stuck, however. -Cheers, Ric.

My iPod is connected to the computer and it works fine with iTunes. But I can't get the music in Windows Media Player to iPod. When I try to sync in Windows Media Player, it does not recognize the iPod, and I can drag files from WMP to iTunes or the iPod.
You cannot synchronize an Apple product in itself using WMP, unless you buy a 3rd party. You must use iTunes.

My update of Windows media player in windows vista does not play a mkv file, what do I do
There are solutions out there, depends on how much you trust the software that you download. Here is an example for Windows 8, could work for vista too - make sure you have a full backup and AV before you start :)

Windows media player stopped to work while listening to music
I can't find the windows media player, when I go into the Panel and look in programs to remove and re instal it, I tried to locate him everywhere but can't find it. When I look in "all programs he's not here, I can not install new media player until I have uninstall the old but can't locate.» I looked in the control panel and all I can think. I have a question too, it is 'not' a program? And if he 'is' where it is located.

Reinstall Windows Media Player, Windows Media Player is one of the native parts in Windows Vista. To reinstall Windows Media Player, follow these steps:
- Refer to the following Microsoft Web site to download the latest version of Windows Media Player:http://www.Microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/AllDownloads.aspx (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/AllDownloads.aspx)
- Click Download now to get the latest version of Windows Media Player, and then click Save to save the installation file. Save the file to a familiar repertoire.
- Locate the installation file, double-click it to start the installation process and follow the instructions to complete the installation or upgrade.
When you open Windows Media Player, right-click on WMP 11 and select "Run as Administrator". Then click on start, go to default programs. Set default programs, and then select Windows Media Player. Set you this program as default and click OK.
If please reply back and let us know if this can help, or if you still need help.

We have a computer that is running Windows 7 and (I think) Windows Media Player 12. When I start ==> all programs ==> windows media player, the program starts and it seems to work. It is a work computer, so no video or audio file is saved.
We have an online seminar that the user wants to participate in, and when we click on the link to get the webinar, an error message appears saying that Windows Media Player is not installed on the computer.
We use Firefox (version reasonably updated, but do not know which) for internet.
I used the "fix it" tool on the website of Microsoft, but that does not solve anything. He said it sets some configuration settings. I thought that maybe uninstall and reinstall it can work, but I can't understand completely uninstall because it isn't in my list of programs in the control panel.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for any ideas you may have.
Nolan
(Moved to programs)
Uninstall and reinstall could be done by searching for and opening the option "turn on or off Windows features", but I don't think it will help.
Instead, what you need is a Windows Media Player plugin for your browser (Firefox).
But before you spend effort on it, I would test to see if it's really the solution. Try to join your webinar with Internet Explorer (where the WMP plugin is built). If it works, you can be reasonably sure to know how to make it work with Firefox.

Windows media player has been removed from my computer
I don't know how, but windows media player has been removed from my computer. I have Windows 7. When I try to play my music I get this error message:
"The file wmploc.dll has a version # 12.0.7600.16667 where 12.0.7601.17514 was expected. Windows Media Player is not installed correctly and must be reinstalled. "
I go to the download site and it will only settle down if I have Windows 7 K (I think) or something else. I'm trying to download and it will not accept it.
Should I restore my computer back to Windows Media Player?
Thanks for any help and assistance.

Hello- This happens while Windows running media player?
- What were the changes made before the problem occurred?
You can view these methods:Method 1:I recommend you perform the clean boot.Configuration of your system in a clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and reinstall the program.
See the following article in the Microsoft KB for more information on how to solve a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.
Method 2:I suggest that you try to reset the media library. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:-Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is started , double-click the service, and then click stop .
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, rename the folder Media Player as Old Media Player . If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists.Method 3:Ways to improve your computer's performance -

Apparently an involuntary change of administrative privileges or permissions (Windows XP Pro, SP3) keeps me updated Media Player version 9 to 11 v. and updated virus Security Essentials definitions. For Media Player, wmsetup.log reports access denied error 80070005 and UpdSpAPI.log reports access denied for the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Settings\MP3Encoding\LowRate registry key. In regedt32, I'm blocked from display HKLM\...\MediaPlayer\Settings and below, and "are allowed to view the current permission settings, but... can make a change." Except that I can't. I can enter the change but get «...» Access is denied"trying to apply them. So this is the first problem that I need help. But of course it's more than a registry key and the subkeys, because MSE too is affected and will download but not install virus definitions. WindowsUpdate.log reports: failed to install with error 80070643.My user account (it's the only one!) is part of the Administrators group and all that I tried to verify administrative permissions is positive. This is a new issue. No virus/malware, according to MSE, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, MalWarebytes Anti-Malware.Original title: cannot update Media Player or Microsoft Security Essentials - access denied Erors
