• DV6-6190us AMD update package fails. Necessary for recommended MS hotfix

  I get a blue screen of death after installing the recommended MS hotfix KB2670838 and using Internet EXPLORER 9. I stopped the problem by uninstalling the patch. Others on the MS for a report of similar problems with computers laptops HP and AMD switchable graphics card. MS advises prevention hot - fix for the moment and is apparently change an option until the issue is resolved.

  One user said that he solved the problem by upgrading the AMD drivers to the latest version. I tried that with the HP sp55092.exe install package on the download page of my dv6. Installation fails with the helpful message "Application install: install package failed! The progress screen said it was installing the MS Visual C++ 2010 redistributable runtime. MsiInstaller gives error event 1013 with the text "product: Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable - 10.0.30319 64 x ‑‑ A later version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable - 10.0.30319 64 x is already installed."

  Installed versions (x 86 & x 64) running on my computer are 10.0.3.40219.  It seems that the package installer on HP support site cannot handle a newer version of the execution. I presume that the reason for the new version on my computer is software that relies on the SP1 version, so downgraded to the old version would just move the problem even if it gets the driver AMD installed package.

  Anyone else seeing this? HP updates the installation package? Any ideas?

  I shot the most recent version of the C++ 2010 runtime that blocked the Softpaq installation, installation fact and re-updated C++ 2010 runtime to the current version. The Softpaq, Intel and AMD drivers updated to the latest versions (on the site of HP). Then I reinstalled the MS fix and were broadcast for 12 hours, with no more BSODs.Funny thing is that the Softpaq still gave me an error on installation (relating to execution C++ 2010) but this time continued and completed.

  I didn't want to steam. I'll look further and maintain the ITI in mind for future updates. It seems that HP is almost through with the software/firmware for the DV6s.

  I am creating thinapp 4.5 packages and it is said that the package times out in August because it is a BETA version. It is the period of time for the license that I downloaded.

  LinJo is correct. You can use ReLink if you only to upgrade the Package ThinApped .msi or .exe files.

  Or if you want to upgarde the package as a whole, you will need to rebuild it. Below the details for both methods.

  METHOD 1 - CREATE A LINK:

  Link to new utility is used to update the old virtualized files Application.exe or Application.msi to the current Version of ThinApp.

  STEPS TO FOLLOW:

  On a clean machine, install the new version ThinApp.

  Copy the Application ThinApped package in the C:\ drive.

  Open Commannd and goto the directory where the ThinApp is installed.

  Command: cd "C:\ProgramFiles\Vmware\VmWare ThinApp\"

  CONNECT THE COMMAND:

  Run the command:

  create a link to "c:\testdir\Application.exe\msi" for example to recreate a link to "Firefox.exe c:\testdir\Mozilla" or recreate a link to "c:\testdir\Mozilla Firefox.msi".

  The package wil be upgraded.

  TEST THE PACKAGE:

  Copy the Application.exe or Application.msi on the computer where you want to run the application.

  Launch the application.

  You can check the version of the application using the command at the command prompt:

  Goto the path where the application.exe. For example, cd C:\ApplicationPack\bin\

  Run the command: ' Application.exe '-thinstallversion '.»

  METHOD 2 - RECONSTRUCTION:

  Use Build.bat in the Application package to rebuild the current version (does that from lower to higher version).

  STEPS TO FOLLOW:

  On a clean machine, install the new version ThinApp.

  Copy the Application ThinApped package in the C:\ drive.

  Open the application package.

  RECONSTRUCTION:

  Double click on GENERATE. BAT

  Command prompt appears and begins to rebuild the package.

  Once complete, the command prompt disappears.

  TEST THE PACKAGE:

  Copy the application package on the computer where you want to run the application.

  Launch the application.

  You can check the version of the application using the command at the command prompt:

  Goto the path where the application.exe. For example, cd C:\ApplicationPack\bin\

  ' Run the command: 'Application.exe' - thinstallversion '.
