Update Vista Home Basic to Premium Edition Office to allow access by laptop running Windows 7
Could someone please advise if I have Vista Home basic desktop Home Premium so I can use laptop running preloaded Windows 7 Office Access? I saw advice that W7 can only comm if Office Home basic is updated! If PORTABLE PERFORMER pre-installed w7 MAY ACCESS DESKTOP. Is this possible and how?
You can move from Home Basic to Home Premium, but Microsoft sells more than Vista. You need to find a copy of retail, Vista Home Premium (not OEM) somewhere like eBay. You can use either a copy of the upgrade or full license to do the upgrade. eHow has an article on the actual upgrade process.
http://www.ehow.com/how_6297506_upgrade-Vista-Home-Basic-Premium.html
The article mentions that you need some version of upgrade, but they speak the old Anytime Upgrade which is no longer available. Ignore this.

You cannot uninstall a running operating system. The best you can do is wipe the hard drive and start over, but which will also remove all programs and documents.

I wonder why the limitation of the upgrade to Windows 7, but the ability to upgrade to Ultimate from Vista Home. Is it simply to get people to pay more for the programs as Ultimate contains the same features as the professional, or am I misunderstood features of the upgrade to Ultimate?
Because Windows 7 Professional and Windows Vista Home Basic do not share the same basic architecture with respect to features.
Windows Vista Home Basic doesn't have many main basic Windows 7 Home Edition network such as Domain Join, backup features, other features such as group policy and network encryption.
If you want to upgrade to Windows 7 while preserving your personal files, settings and installed applications, you will need to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate.
Windows Vista Home Basic > Windows 7 Home Basic, Premium or Ultimate
Windows Vista Edition Home Premium > Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate
Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Professional, enterprise or ultimate edition
Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Enterprise
Windows Vista Ultimate > Windows 7 Ultimate.

Am still getting the error message - sometimes just hangs and I have to use the button restart to escape!

Original title: green screen
my windows Vista Home Basic Edition does not show the Office when I log in. it shows only a green screen. I tried all the options in F8 mode with no result. How can I fix it without losing any information on the hard drive?
Hello
1 - do you mean that you get the green screen even in safe mode?
2 did you recent hardware or software changes to your computer before this problem?
If you are unable to start desktop even in safe mode, then you try to perform the verification and startup repair.

try to reformat the hard drive and load Vista Home Basic Edition with a disk of vista premium
I'm trying to help out a friend because they are in a deadlock and their computer has some kind of virus. If im trying to reformat and reload Vista Home Basic on it. I have only a vista Home premium upgrade disk from walmart. If I use the product key for vista basic system, it'll work with the disc in vista Home premium? the computer came with it already load on and im trying to save their money so I don't want to make them have to get the acer recovery disks.
You cannot configure a recovery Partition; He is photographed in the factory during the production of the computer/laptop.
You should be able to use say you have.
Use the disc and see if it works!

I'm unable to upgrade Windows Vista Home Basic SP2 to Windows 7 Home Premium.
I am trying to upgrade Windows Vista Home Basic SP2 to Windows 7 Home premium. The compatibility report indicates no problem, except that the keyboard filter stops working after the upgrade. It is just information and no error, so I continued. In the 'Windows Update' step during the "collection of files, settings and programs" in point 32%, I get "Windows has stopped working" pop up and the only option given is "close the program". Tried twice with the same results at the same point. Help, please.

Windows vista home basic service pack1 and windows vista Home premium service Pack 2
I WANT TO UPDATE WINDOWS VISTA HOME BASIC, WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM TO MY NEW LAPTOP TO MY OLD LAPTOP. Can I update my laptop which has windows vista home basic service pack1 installed using my laptop which has windows vista Home premium service pack 2 by using a transfer program for example windows easy transfer? HOW CAN I DO THIS?
Hi ronnieVron,
Your copy of Windows is only allowed for 'a machine If you want to put Vista Edition home premium on your 'old laptop"you can buy a new copy of Vista premium. Another point is that copies of Windows was probably preinstalled on your laptop, which means that, putting license on one side, your copy is related to each specific laptop and so, because the copy is related to the material on each laptop, you would have problems on other transfer machine. Anyway you could invalidate your Windows license.

How to change the Vista Vista Home Basic to Home Premium
Hi he joined the forum, so Hello to everyone.
Could someone tell me please in the right direction with my problem.
I tried of me sorting, but I do not understand what to do.I've had my Toshiba laptop pre-installed with Vista Home Basic now for six months, everything was fine, so I decided to move to Home Premium.
I've updated without problem and everything was fine until I had problem with the laptop and had to reformat. And here is my problem, being a bit naïve and stupid I have no record or instructions to get my upgrade back.
I tried to find a solution but don't know what to do.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
Shaun

Given upgrade Vista Home Basic to Home Premium 7
Hello world! had a doubt: I plan to upgrade my Vista Home Basic to Home Premium 7, but I don't know if my computer will work as smooth as Vista. My system has achieved:
- 2 GB OF RAM
- NVidia GeForce 9500 GT (it will work very well. I think)
- 250 GB HARD drive (well, it's like 230 GB)
- Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.8 GHz per CPU
- Everything except Office 2010 (Beta) and games very sophisticated (not Internet because I don't want to get viruses)
My big problem is the games. I like to play great games like Assassin's Creed and Crysis, which move more great on Vista. I don't know if they will work as good as sound in Windows 7. Also, I would like to know the reqs. recommended for this system. Please answer!
