Updated Inspiron 3721

Hi people out there. I like really this 3721... but... I want to speed up a bit. We are never happy are we?

Don't care anymore: Core i3 - 3227U. RAM is @ 4gigs. 64 bit W7 Home Premium. 500Gig HDD.

I think that perhaps 8 gigs of Ram and a 512 GB Solid State Drive. How much RAM maybe this handle?

Thoughts?

P.S. A mini 1018 will manage Win7 Home Premium with 2 GB of Ram and an SSD?

Hi JJSooner1,

The Inspiron 3721 system has 2 SODIMM slots. The system accepts a memory of 2 GB, 4 GB, 6 GB, and 8 GB capacity. The type of memory accepted is DDR3 1600 MHz only. The computer supports a maximum of 8 GB.

In addition, you can move the hard drive to SSD that would make the system more quickly.

Dell Inspiron mini 1018 will be able to manage the Windows 7 operating system, but will be slower side.

  • Unrecoverable blank screen after Windows 10 update - Inspiron N50500

Inspiron N5050, launched in January 2013.

Updated recently for Windows 10 without incident. The laptop worked well for several weeks. It is only after the updates started coming my problems began.

After each of the first two updates and customary restarts, the screen would go blank. There he remained for two or three days until that for some unknown reason, the office became visible again. Basically, all I did was start it, leave it on for a few hours and restart again. I repeated this process over and over again for a few days. I also consulted a number of forums online Meanwhile, tried some of the suggestions offered without result. Basically, everything seemed to go down to this boot, wait, re - start process again. This makes little sense to me, but something caused the screen become operational. .. There are nearly ten days until this last update.

As you can imagine, when Windows told me that the next update would be applied at the next restart, I saw it with concern and discontent. And this time it didn't come back.

With the exception of the white screen, the computer seems completely functional. The screen is not completely black, but appears to be backlit. There is a noticeable glow emanating from it. I am able to enter my password at the right time and he will finish the boot process.  I can't see anything on the screen.

Today, I inserted the recovery disc I made when I turned on the computer the first time only whether end with the following runtime error:

    "Program: X:\windows\system32\RESTORE7.exe.
This application has requested the execution to terminate in an unusual way. For more information, contact the application support team"

    Restore7.exe Application error
The exception unknown software exception (0 x 40000015) occurred in the application at location 0x4011398e
Click OK to terminate the program

Usually, I try to do all the right things, but it is doubtful that Microsoft or Dell will have any interest in solving my little dinky problem. So, I hope some of you can offer some suggestions. I'm pretty dead on the water and ideas.

douglasgrubbs, I hope you can see, because it seems that I might have found a solution.

I found an old monitor in the confines of my attic, hooked up to the laptop and booted up. Alto! I had a visible desktop. After a time, a message popped up indicating the need for a reboot. Not a cold, hard starting. A REBOOT! There are 10 Windows updates that should be installed, and they could only be installed on a restart. (This is the part I'm missing because I couldn't see it on a blank screen).

I clicked on "Restart now" on the message and let it go. (It took a bit of time to install updates)

Douglas, if you see, find and connect an external monitor and all updates waiting for you. This has been the problem all along.

  • Updated Inspiron 3847 of Win 7 Pro to Win Pro 8.1

We recently purchased Inspiron 3847 4 to replace some machines XP being retired.

They came with Windows 7 Pro installed and a «license for Windows 8.1 Pro»

Each came with a DVD titled:

    Operating system

    Already installed on your computer,

Recovery media Windows 8.1 for Windows 8.1 products, 64-bit

I expected there would be a few instructions on how to upgrade 7 Pro to Pro 8.1, or with the PC or online, but so far I have not found anything. Is my only option to do a full install from the DVD? The warnings, I need to know?

    Thank you very much!

No, you can upgrade.  Put in the disc and choose the upgrade path (not customized) to do an upgrade of Windows 8.  You can do a clean install of Windows 8 on top of Windows 7, but you don't have to.  You can consider running Windows 8 analysis tool to find out if you will need additional drivers after installation or if your installed software may or may not have known problems with it.

  • Updated Inspiron 1545 from Win 7 to win 10

    Hello

Thinking about upgrading my laptop Inspiron 1545 Windows 10. Successfully, I did an upgrade N5010 last week and only lost the bluetooth (for a driver not supported).

Anyone know of any compatibility issues with the 1545? In my view, it has not yet been tested, but I would switch to it.

    Thank you. Jim

I can confirm that 10 Windows works fine without any problems on the Inspiron 1545 driver; I currently use it to write this message. I've upgraded to windows 7 without hassle. I use only one day so maybe some questions may turn up, but for now, everything seems to be great!

    Hope that helps!

I want to improve my 5130, I now inside the dual core cpu 4400(2.0 ghz).

    with a bios version 1.0.18.

Wath I whant is a new dual core, so no Q-base, because it is the ory007 .

I read that al almost the dual core cpu made, so my whas eye falling on the 7600(3.0 ghz).

now my question > is the Cpu, the only thing I have to buy and just put and go?

The next thing I have to do is to buy a new power supply, it is the subject of 300W.

and I whant to go to 500W ore more, with this one inside I can buy a video card better.

now I hace a gforce 9400gt 512 and I whant to go at least until the gt220 1gig or higher card...

Is there someone with the same setup that I have will and what kind of power supply is it then, and it also works ?

(this al is about 300 euros a new pc much more)

    Thanks in advance

    paul62

With the Inspiron 530 ORY007 motherboard, you can use one of the following CPU

Intel Celeron 420 processor (1.6 GHz, 800 FSB)
Intel Pentium Dual Core 2140 (1.6 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
    Intel Pentium Dual-Core 2160 (1.8 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
    Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 (2.5 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 (1.8 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 (2.0 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 (1.86 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 (2.13 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 (2.33 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 (2.66 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 (2.80 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (3.0 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)

Respect to the power supply, with the Inspiron 530 Mini Tower, you can use more generic standard ATX power supplies, with a power connector 24 pin 20 + 4 pin card or mother main, with or without the on/off switch.

You should be able to buy a compatible power supply either a local computer or online store.

Note: You need a diet with four SATA power connectors.

  • Updated Inspiron 530

    Hello

I want to improve my Dell Inspiron 530 Windows 8.1 (or even 7). Now I'm running Vista 32 bit and I want to upgrade to 64 - bit. If I run the Upgrade Advisor it says Intel(r) PRO Network Connections is not compatible with 8.1 it's a problems? And I can pass, and I must installatie drivers?

    Thank you in advance.

    Kevin_V26

Yes it is true, that your system is compatible with a system of 64 bit Win 8.1 operating.

The only parts I would upgrade is the video card, the Radeon HD 3400 is really outdated, but it's your choice and maybe the memory

The 0FM586 of Dell, Foxconn G33m03 motherboard can support up to 8 GB (4 x 2 GB modules), once again, it's your choice.

  • System Image backup

I'll do a restore of the System Image on the Laptop Inspiron 3721 (Windows 7, i5 processor) to my parents next week. I've done system in 2013 Image discs and they have not been updated since they got the computer.

The reason for the restoration of the Image of the system, is that they had the Lasaoren Yontoo virus and on their computer. I thought that I had managed to get rid of two of them and the computer ran fine until a couple of days. Now Chrome cannot be opened, a phone convo with my mother, IE does not work as it should and she is unable to access his e-mail.

Windows still works on the computer (even though I really think it can also be infected). The restoration of the Image of the system completely replace the current operating system settings? In other words, is it completely erasing discs all updates Windows or the changes since 2013 or should I uninstall Windows and start over with the system repair disc - Windows 7, 64-bit disk I did in 2013, when I did the Image of the disk system?

I prefer clearly, simply use the disks of the System Image as this can be done from the Control Panel, but I need to know if there is possibility to leave behind parts of Windows that may or may not be infected if I use this method alone.

    Thanks for any idea!

Incorrect answer.  You must start the computer from the Win7 system repair disc
