updated my mac pro early 2011 book now really running hot

I wanted from the upgrade of my mac book pro early 2011 I7 quad core 8 G ram 2T HDD

So I finally did. I like it, but now my mac runs hot 116 degrees. the fans are running.

boot time has also more he takes more time.

I used my mac pro for dj book I also do a video mixer.

run final cut pro x no problem

I also do recording on a DAW. never had any problems so far.

I understand is difficult to test on all models is a solution for this.

I thought he was going to improve performance, I don't see it seems to take more time during startup.

How about this circle just turn around.

I know that you guys try.

I hope hear from you soon.

Thank you

Run programs of type DJ on an Early 2011 MacBook Pro, while also on El Capitan put quite a strain on the machine. Programs of DJ using just the music will pull a use much more memory and CPU than normal, not to mention video mixing as well. That being said, you use a USB jack in a box/audio mixer (like SL3 or Pioneer DJM900) or you use a DJ controller?

I do not think that 116 degrees is too abnormally warm for the type of stress you put on the machine. I would possibly consider a SSD drive. Not only will improve performance, but because you will have parts in SSD, as you would in a standard hard drive, the machine should run cooler.

Model: Mac Pro (early 2008), 2 x Quad Core Intel Xeon 3.2, 20 GB (should have been 24Go - only recently realized that Genius bar replaced RAM they lost with bad spec, so we have to work outside 20 GB for now), NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB, startup disk 500 GB SSD, 1 TB SATA 7200 RPM, 2 TB SATA 72 RPM.

O/S: Yosemite, 10.10.5 (14F1509) (to date). Waiting for the seeds with Adobe in El Capitan to be ironed out before the upgrade.

Background: Mac runs slowly, and the fan is constantly on high even if Mac is not that much. Checked, only 16Gb 20 Gb showing, which then deteriorated to 12 and finally 8 GB of RAM.

    Checks / actions so far:

-C' IS good RAM for this machine, IE 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM, provided by Apple.

-All the RAM recognized before (he's been there more than a year and the last time I looked, it was see 20 GB, which is what is inside).

-DIMM is properly matched on boards.

-Boards are fully seated in the riser.

N ' had not moved machine or s/w recently updated.

-Removed and replaced DIMM, which dumped first tips of handling static etc. carefully according to the instructions from Apple. This resulted in reduction of recognized with 12 GB of RAM.

-Again re-allocation of places 2nd; It resulted that 8 GB being recognized.

-Same report (8 GB) I look under > memory or under Activity Monitor > memory

-No obvious problem with DIMMs or connectors; No dust, scratches or crud.

    -Replace the LANDAU and SMC

Now at the end of the straps with a job to get out (and Lightroom being a bigger dog than usual with only 8 GB of RAM. I read all the posts I can find on this point, can't find anything I did not... Ideas please people?

The FBDIMM used in these Macs run hot and die. You did probably nothing wrong, and there is none of the extrinsic factors that prevent your RAM from functioning. DIMMs indicate does not are diagnosed properly - they're dead.

You can buy more if you want to run more.

Make sure that you buy DIMM modules with the huge heat sinks and Apple has approved the temperature probe, or they will die sooner.

As a preventive measure, you can use a third-party program to modestly increase the fan speed.

  • Install windows on mac pro (early 2008) in other SSDS with RAID card

Guys, good evening to all the same time.

I get out of this crazy short, I ask humbly help.

    I explain my problem:

I have a Mac Pro (early 2008), with RAID CARD MEDIA

He does not then I "gave" to my mother who must use windows for work.

I'm out all 4 disks in RAID installed and mounted 2 - SSD OCZ Agility 256 GB.

one of them is installed OSX Yosemite. on the other hand, I want to install WINDOWS.

    and here the problems begin:

When I insert the win8.1 to proceed installation standard dvd (EFI not talked since the beginning of 2008), I get, when I have to decide on which disk to install and format windows, does not reveal the installed drives

After 2 days of tweaking, I was able to understand that this is a problem due to the RAID card installed, I also read that you just remove it and connect the SSD in one of the two doors empty ODDsata (and not in the 4 planned the raid card slots)

but still does not see the attached HDD / SSD, so keep trying and I think it's a driver problem and I need to install the AHCI driver, now, I'm pretty Nerd, but I still can't get.

Someone could want explain step by step what I need to do to install this * win on MacPro 8.1 designed for RAID card?

Thank you so much in advance.

    A welcome message

    Ruggero

If you remove the card RAID Apple on the Mac, you MUST connect the iPass cable on its location on the motherboard, or all four bays are unusable:

  • Mac Pro early 2008 OS 10.6.8 at 10.11 on a new SSD upgrade

    Hi all!

I want to spend my Mac Pro hard drive to an SSD with a new installation of El Capitan, but I also want to continue to use Adobe CS3 (I can't afford a new version... > _ <).  I read that some people have a lot of problems after upgrading their operating system, even when you use the legacy of Java 6 to CS3.

Someone at - it good tutorials step by step to install a new OS on a SSD?  I have the adapter for my Mac to use the SSD drive also.  I'm not * that * tech savvy, so I don't want to spoil anything!  :\

Would it not be possible to keep my current hard drive with Snow Leopard and run Parallels or Fusion for Adobe CS3 on my SSD?  I've never used Parallels or Fusion (preferences?), so where the Snow Leopard operating system to be need?  On a partition on the SSD or can it be on its own hard drive (the one I'm currently using)?

Also do not know when I improve my OS, how do I tell my Mac to start El Capitan and not Snow Leopard so I keep the older operating system on its own hard drive?  It is system-> startup disk preferences?  Is that how I can go back, if I need to?

    Here are my specs:

Mac Pro early 2008 (MacPro 3,1)

    Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.8 Ghz

    16 GB RAM 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM

HARD drive 500GBx2 (one is currently my Time Machine, I'll use it as a backup of my photos)

500GB SSD (no not in my Mac still installed)

4 TB HARD drive (will have Time Machine on half)

El Capitan would be really slow on my Mac Pro or should I go with the Mavericks or Yosemite?  I'm just trying to extend the life of my Mac as long as possible!

I'm really sorry for all the questions!  Thank you very much for any help!  ^____^

    ~ Christina ~.

-Unless you have already "purchased" Mavericks or Yosemite is is not available for download.

-I just download the installer of El Capitan from the Mac App Store and run it and order that EL Capitan to be installed on the new SSD. You can then by pressing the Option key at startup to choose which version of the OS you want to boot from. You can set either as the default startup in system preferences > startup disk.

-During installation, you use the configuration wizard to migrate SN drive stuff. YO can also do it later using Migration Assistant but who has created a new used with the migrated data.

-With 16 GB of RAM and an SSD El Capitan will be fine

  • Replacement for trust Mac Pro early 2008

    Hello

Looking for a replacement for my very reliable and expandable Mac Pro early 2008.  I got it in 2009 after the death of my PC and on the eve of Apple, highlighted the 2009 model.

Looking for a replacement and do not know whether to go for high spec 27 "iMac or Mac Pro.  Welder instead of videographer professional seriousness.  All I get will be faster than the current Mac Pro despite many improvements over the years.

    Thank you

    Matt

As an amateur, I think you should seriously consider any movement until the 2009 model or later. Same factor form except the processor and RAM are on a shelf at the bottom of the Cabinet.

They are faster because of some of the architecture changes, accept more RAM and still have the PCIe slots that allow you to add upgrades.

  • Mac Pro early 2008 adding ram problems

I recently added RAM to my Mac Pro early 2008. The Mac Pro recognizes only 4 of 8 memory locations. I moved the slots and moved the memory and all slots and all the memories are good. No matter where I put them, or what memory I use, the Mac Pro will see 4 of 8. Any suggestions? Yosemite run 10.10.5, trying to fill all 8 locations with 800 mhz 2 GB DDR2 FB - DIMM.

Where have you bought the new?

    All new are identical?

All the 'old' are the same?

What is the size of the old and new?

My Mac Pro screen turns off at random. I have two screens. Most when it goes out when the system processes more than workload, but he died sometimes even its not working any program. Any help would be appreciated.

    Details of the system

    MAC Pro early 2008

2 2.8 GHz Quad - Core Intel Xeon processor: 8 strands

    32 GB OF RAM

ATI Radeon HD 3870 - VRAM: 512 MB

    Cinema HD 1920 x 1200

    Cinema HD 1920 x 1200

Note the time of the next problem. After the reboot, open the Console app in Finder > Applications > utilities and look for entries of the log at the time of the problem. Suspicious message here.

Also check the fan on the video card. It runs smoothly and free of dust?

My wife has an i5 to 2.3 GHz MacBook Pro early 2011 and it worked like a slug.  Ran disk utility and verified that the disk needs repair using recovery HD.  What does this lead and what is the risk of losing all the data is there?

Even if it is very slow, you must make a return upwards before the race "repair disk". The risk of data loss is minimal, but do it anyway: Save and run to repair the disk.

As for what it implies - most of the time nothing more than simply sitting and waiting to do his thing.

  • I want to exchange a larger HDD (Mac Pro early 2009) and at the same time improve Cougar to El Capitan.

I want to exchange a larger HDD (Mac Pro early 2009) and at the same time improve Cougar to El Capitan. What is the best way to do it?

I think the best would be a new installation of El Capitan on the new HD and reinstall the applications on the new HD, and then migrate the data and setting for the previous version of OSX. In this way the least unused stuff enters the new OSX version

  • Mac Pro early 2009-7950 HIS Itceq Turbo / 3GB

    Hello

I bought a GPU 7950 HIS Itceq Turbo / 3GB GDDR5. I tried with the Mac Pro early 2009 (10.9.5) and a 4K monitor, but it does not work perfectly.

The DVI output is good, but the max resolution only 1080 p. If I use with cable MiniDisplay, and view the right side monitor scratches and horizontal 5 seconds noise appears on 60 Hz. The monitor works fine on 30 Hz. I tried SwitchResx app for the best refresh rate, best rate exceeded the 55 Hz, but the horizonte noise not.

The other problem, the boot music played twice each time, so pluged the DVI. If the MiniDisplay cable was plugged music start playing around and he played with white screen. The only way to start if you connect the cable

The seller never try it with a 4K monitor, so I do not know is the card works well.

The 4 K is Acer BX320HK. It works very well with the MacBook Pro late 2013 (10.10.5) with Nvidia GeForce GT 750 M 2048 MB same MiniDisplay-Display cable.

Is there someone who uses this card with MacPro and 4 k monitor?

    Thank you!

The specifications of the card say:

    2560 x 1600 per display (DVI Dual-link)

    You use a dual-link cable?

I can't find the manual so I don't know what input DVI resolution lets you get.

Yesterday, I downloaded the upgrade to El Capitan in a Mac Pro (early 2008) running Yosemite 10.10.5, and today I can not start the upgrade.

The only option I have found is to click again on the download button, but the circle of download rest bike for a long time and ultimately that nothing happens.

    See if that helps...

Start with CMD + r or the Option/alt key to boot from the recovery partition & use utility disk from there to repair the disk, and then repair permissions.
