  DW8 is powerful long in the tooth. Although there may be an update out there (3 rd-party, not Adobe) that allow you to start a new page with a doctype HTML5, I'm sure there is not an update that would also add support for HTML5 tags. The whole approach of DW has changed pretty significantly since DW8 - your best bet would be to get a subscription to the CC and start using CS6 (this and future versions of DW will require you to be somewhat familiar with the HTML and CSS).

• Impossible to update Shockwave Flash plugin

  I'm only updating Shockwave Flash because the plugin page says to do so; Otherwise, I have no problems. The sequence of update I'm having problems is different from those described by others:
  (1) check the updates of the plugin: Shockwave Flash 11.1 r102 was highlighted as 'Vulnerable' with red UPDATE NOW.
  (2) click on update now and was prompted to download Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.62 (no Shockwave Flash); Downloaded ran .exe install file. Closed Firefox installation, such as requested and installation is complete.
  (3) Firefox open; Active plugins and now reviews of saw that version of Flash Player is outdated and people with disabilities.
  (4) as test, played a video of youtube; Click command prompt at the top of the screen for "plugin" missing Run auto update, called for the closure of Firefox and completed the installation.
  (4) Firefox open; Checked plugins and once again saw that Shockwave Flash needed UPDATE NOW (as described in #1 above). Adobe Flash Player is not listed anywhere in the plugin list.

  • You need the 32-bit version of Flash for Firefox.

  Sorry that you have problems with the installation of Flash, but many users on 64 - bit systems posed problems with the new installer 32 bit/64 bit combined from Adobe.

  Everytime I open firefox, a Web site "plugin check" opens. I thought that once I installed and updated all relevant updates for plugins, the site would disappear when I re-opened Firefox. However, the custom of the page "seem to disappear. I did everything I could think of to get rid of this page. After updating all the plugins I restarted my pc, checked to make sure that my homepage has not changed the change in firefox, deactivated all my plugins plugin and even tried to block the website by the HOSTS.

  (I'm on firefox 3.6.17. I can't upgrade to 4.0 because some of the websites that I use cannot support 4.0).

  The plugin for Firefox is called Shockwave Flash and the latest version is 17.0.0.188

  When it installs, Flash by default to update automatically, but if you need to manually update, you can use one of these pages:

  • https://get.Adobe.com/flashplayer/ (uncheck all the unwanted extras)
  • https://www.Adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html (one for the browsers 'plugin')

  the plugin file named npGoogleUpdate3.dll is usually located in C:\Users\ < username > \AppData\Local\Google\Update\ < versionnumber >. You can remove it manually to get out of the list of plugins installed in firefox.
