Updates to Windows KB2686828, KB2604092 and KB2656369 keep repeated.

Original title: install not updates windows 2686828 2604092 2656369

For many weeks, I get the yellow shield icon in the system tray telling me to install these updates. Whenever they install & I thought he managed. Minutes later, it is repeated.

I tried with automatic updates as the value &, I prefer being well told, I can choose the time.
I tried with the firewall disabled (Norton), but with the same result. I also tried the fix for windows it downloads, but is no more.
I need these updates & if so how to install?

I tried all suggested steps to correct - to disabled the automatic update and will ignore other proposals to use updates of KB2656369 etc in the future - lost for hours on this already.

When / if you get tired of hiding and want to ensure that they are indeed installed on your computer, you can call Microsoft Support (free support for security features) and ask one of their technicians uninstall/reinstall your .NET Frameworks. This may take a few hours, and I suggest you do these procedures you are not trying.

It worked for me about the updates of Windows KB2686828 and KB2656369 offered several times after showing successfully installed.

Good luck.

    Hello

    See if this helps you:

Search for malware, if necessary using the safe mode with networking.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-Windows-in-safe-mode/#Vista

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

Once in Safe Mode with network, download and run RKill.

RKill does NOT remove the malware; It stops the Malware process that gives you a chance to remove it with your security programs.

Then, download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware in Mode safe mode with networking:

It would be a good idea to run the System File Checker tool if you have corrupted files

"How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the files on system missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7"

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

If SFC detects serious flaws, you may need to perform a repair upgrade Installation or relocation complete if you don't have a Vista DVD from Microsoft.

  • Impossible to update of Windows Media Player and Microsoft Security Essentials and the error is "access denied error 80070005."

Apparently an involuntary change of administrative privileges or permissions (Windows XP Pro, SP3) keeps me updated Media Player version 9 to 11 v. and updated virus Security Essentials definitions.
For Media Player, wmsetup.log reports access denied error 80070005 and UpdSpAPI.log reports access denied for the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Settings\MP3Encoding\LowRate registry key. In regedt32, I'm blocked from display HKLM\...\MediaPlayer\Settings and below, and "are allowed to view the current permission settings, but... can make a change." Except that I can't. I can enter the change but get «...» Access is denied"trying to apply them. So this is the first problem that I need help.
But of course it's more than a registry key and the subkeys, because MSE too is affected and will download but not install virus definitions. WindowsUpdate.log reports: failed to install with error 80070643.
My user account (it's the only one!) is part of the Administrators group and all that I tried to verify administrative permissions is positive. This is a new issue. No virus/malware, according to MSE, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, MalWarebytes Anti-Malware.

  • Try to install Windows Vista KB2904266 and it keeps fault - error code 800F0818

I tried to install the update of Windows Vista KB2904266 for a few weeks now and it keeps failing. Really, it isn't as if it were still able to install anything - 0% installed.  Then I have a 800F0818 code error update failed.  Other updates were installed successfully, but it will not be installed.  I had others fail too in the past.  I do not understand why some updates install successfully while others do not.

Impossible to find info on what this means or what to do so I can again update in Windows Defender. This error message has begun to appear recently, or at least I think. I thought it was set to automatic update, but when I tried to do it manually because it says it's expired. Tried several times but get the same message every time.

You are welcome. Your computer must NOT be connected to the internet or networks without a fully functional antivirus, completely update installed application. But first, let's take care of any Norton "leftovers"...

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

Now, you will need to download/install an antivirus application. While I do not recommend professionally AVG, you might find that AVG Free 9.0 more compatible if you choose a CUSTOM this time installation above and don't install NOT of Linkscanner Search-Shield, Active Surf-Shield, security or the email of crawl components toolbar.

Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email
       http://thundercloud.NET/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

Otherwise, I can recommend Microsoft Security Essentials*, Avira AntiVirand Avast (all free) and NOD32 and Kaspersky (not the suites 'internet security'). After you have installed your AV application selected, manually & repeatedly updated until you get one invites 'no more updates'.

[Avoid Norton & McAfee IMHO applications.]
