Upgrade CPU Dell Dimension 9150
Hello!
I have a Dell Dimension 9150 and it has a Pentium D 2.8 Ghz processor.
Dell.com support lists: processor, 80547, PENTIUM D SMITHFIELD for workstations..., 820 SKT - T, male
What is the highest and/or upgrade best remaining for the Pentium D processors?
Where are some of the best places to shop in a relatively straight price besides eBay?
I read so many messages but still confused.
Discovered that she can be Pentium D 840, 3.2GGhz, but has noticed that some people say that there is more available as the Pentium D 930, 950 or 945 processor.
Intel website is very confusing because it does not necessarily list the most valuable info and there are variations within each class of processor.
I intend to keep (hopefully!) the computer for another 1-3 years (?), have upgraded from storage for 2 hard drives of 1 TB, maxed out 4G memory (although Windows XP won't recognise that the 3.5 G) and has even with graphics card, Radeon 256, X 600 MRMGA 370W PSU +.
I would like to upgrade processor for video work that I perform.
Did not notice a fan of the sink on top of processor but check! Will I need one? Thermal glue specific for help?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
MrMojo1
You should be able to switch to a Pentium D 960 3.6 GHz
It is a passive radiator and the fan inside the fairing.
As you intend to reuse the heat sink, you must plan on his basic cleaning and reapplying thermal paste to the processor.
Instructions for cleaning and application of thermal paste, are HERE.
You only need a small tube of thermal paste, it can be purchased from a computer store.

Upgrade memory Dell Dimension 9150
Hello
I'm looking to upgrade memory RAM on my Dell Dimension 9150 Dual Core (DXP051) clocked at 2.8 GHZ with 1 GB of ram. Motherboard is Dell 0YC523. IGB memory currently.
Watching the RAM is OCZ Enhanced latency Platinum XTC Edition revision 2 with speed 800 Mhz - CL4 (4-4-4-15) latency. 2 GB
OCZ recommendation is to increase the volatge of ram to 2.1V on the BIOS but I don't think that this is possible on the Dell motherboard.
Previousposts research, someone also asked a similar question but for an XPS 720 PC.
The solution suggested something about SLI or EPP ready... I'm not sure what it means. This means that the RAM must be SLI or EPP ready to be compatible with the motherboard of Dimension I or the mothersboard must be ready for use of these modules of memory SLIp/PPE? Can I use this module and if so, how do I change the voltage or the motherboard will adjust it automatically?
If not, can I get some other RAM?
Thanks in advance.

Upgrading CPU for Dimension 4600.
Hi, I am currently using a Dell Dimension 4600 with Pentium 4 processor clocked at 2.66 Ghz Socket 478, I read somewhere
only the motherboard i've got will take up to a 3.2 Ghz CPU. I was going to buy a Pentium 4 3 Ghz SL7e4 that supports Hyper Threading technology. What I want to know is, will my support of the Dimension of this processor. I don't know where else to ask. Also I guess it's a prescott because she has a 1 mb L2 cache am I have reason to believe that they can become quite hot, can I do something for cooling or can I just use the old radiator and fan.
Cheers for your help.

Upgrading RAM Dell Dimension 4700
Hi all
OK I will try once again to this type. The first time I tried to type this my Surface frozen without reason and had to be properly closed. OK, I'll update the RAM on my Dell Dimension 4700 and I need help and advice before I do. My Dell says it has 0.99 GB of RAM installed. I looked inside and found that there are two sticks of 512 MB of RAM. I found (2 sticks of 1 GB) 2GB of RAM for Dell Dimension 4700 at amazon.com and intend to purchase that. So when I update the RAM I get two sticks of 512 MB and replaced with new 2 sticks of 1 GB from amazon? Are there precautions should I take? (In addition to wear an anti-static wristband) Thank you.
Before you buy, go to http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/systemscanner
Download and run the Crucial scanner. This will tell you:
- supports memory of how many are in your computer
- How much memory is in each
- the maximum memory that can be installed on your computer and how
- the right kind of RAM in your computer
Do not buy crucial, but pay attention to what the scanner says that you need.
In short, if you have only two supports from memory, then Yes, you need to remove the memory that is in them to put in new RAM. However, just because you can buy two memory modules of 1 GB does not necessarily that your motherboard will accept them.
When replacing memory.
See http://www.crucial.com/wcsstore/CrucialSAS/pdf/install-guides/ram/crucial-dram-install-guide-en.pdf
- take precautions against static - touch the chassis first; do not touch the contacts of the RAM modules
- Unlock the pliers and pull it up
- Orient the new module properly - there is usually only one way correct to put in - and push straight down firmly, but without wavering until closing locks.

Upgrade of a Dimension 9150/XPS 400
I was wondering if someone could help me find the hardware upgrades best absolute for this computer supported.
Now is that everything on it is stock with the exception being updated from xp to vista.
Here's the Manual: http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-9150_owner%27s%20manual_en-us.pdf
Thanks in advance.
With the latest bios and pentium D 900 series cpu (up to 960 915) with the copper heatpipe heatsink this system will work 8.1 WINDOWS 64 bit or even 10 64-bit Windows very well. Very modern GPU will have problems. A R7 of Sapphire 260 X for example don't post and cannot enter setup because the Bios uses commands BACK VESA and newer cards do not support MODE VESA 103 for example. I have seen this with ATI cards recently, but I suspect that 960, 970, 980 GTX cards will have the same problem. Yes, as long as you stay with Geforce 740, 750, 760, 780, its fine likely. I used Geforce 560, 660, 740, 750 TI, 760GT very well. Power supply supports cards that only need 1 6-pin PCI - E. You can evolve into a better diet, but once again, it would cost more that everything began with a more recent version as the 3500 of precision. The other thing is that when you upgrade buying a Geforce 740 or 750 TI card will work in a newer system as old. My ASUS GeForce GTX760 DirectCU II OC 2 GB graphics card came with a 2 x 6-pin PCI adapter 8pin. Worked well in my T3500 Precision T3400 AND because the dell 525w PSU came with the fittings of video feed 2 x 6-pin. The stock power 375w works with cards that only need 1 pci-e power connection.
WIN8.1 or 10 X 64 WORKS with pentium D 9XX series on precision 380 and XPS Gen 5 XPS 400 with the latest version of the bios and the performance of copper radiator.
I used to think it was a core 2 duo and the latest version of the bios, but I proved to myself that simply Pressler CPU 900 series.

Upgrade CPU Dell Inspiron 530?
I bought a Dell Inspiron 530 in October 2008 (Service tag <> NOTE from the ADMIN: Service tag removed by privacy policy >) and I would like to upgrade the processor. My current processor is an Intel Celeron 450 2.20 GHz. I think that my motherboard is a Foxconn G33M02. (But I am not sure, and I would like to confirm that, so that I don't get an incompatible cpu.)
What would be a good upgrade from the processor that I can put in my current motherboard? I feel that my current Celeron 450 is a uniprocessor processor, and I would trade out for an important and remarkable improvement with more hearts (at reasonable cost) while keeping the same motherboard.
I've already updated the PSU for a 460 Watt PSU and have also upgraded the video card. Looking for a good upgrade from the processor. I think I also need to update my bios of motherboard.

Upgrade a Dell Dimension 9200 360 GB Raid to 2 TB hard drive
Hello
I have tried this modernization and taken on drives of 160 GB 1 and put in disk 2 TB and started the PC and it did not work I tried 2 different locations.
Can someone help me by telling me what I have to do
to install disk 2 TB on my Vista PC running.
I need to install my dell Vista-CD/CD?
your help will be greatly appreciated
Assuming you have RAID 0, RAID was probably set up to be the bootable hard drive. If you delete one of the disks, your RAID will be completely disabled and the computer will not start. The Dimension 9200 has six SATA ports, two upward by themselves and four other together towards the middle of the main map. When one of these machines has been ordered with RAID Dell normally placed disks RAID on the third SATA ports and fourth, leaving the first two either vacuum or place the DVD/CD drive on the second of the two ports that reach by themselves next to the power supply. You should be able to add your Board of 2 TB in two ways; Place it in one of the two ports next to food, or use one of the either the port of fifth or sixth sitting by the RAID.
Once you have the new drive installed mechanically, restart the computer and use F2 during the self-test to reach the configuration of the system. This page shows the BIOS how you want the computer to deal with its various devices. Go to the screen that shows all your SATA devices and make sure that the port with your new hard drive is turned on. If you skip this step the computer ignores your new drive. Once you have done this and left the installation of the system, you will need to find the disk on your computer Manager so that you can initialize, partition and format the new drive. You must configure a partition, even if you want to use the entire disk as one partition before you can format.
A word of caution: computers some Dell's have some difficulties to accept a hard drive placed on a track numbered higher than the DVD/CD drive. If you use the ports by the RAID drives and find you have problems using the new hard disk, you will need to plug it into the port of the first or second, depending on which is not used by the DVD/CD drive. The RAID drives are not normally affected by this problem because they are managed by the ROM of RAID Intel and the computer does not see them as a SATA hard drive.
