Upgrade Express pain in the *.

I'm slowly driven crazy by Microsoft and their installation problems.
I installed a new hard drive on my computer after the original, we give up.
Before that, I contacted Microsoft and told them what I was doing and ask for advice on how to reinstall the operating system (in this case Win 7 Professional Upgrade - the operating system on the original disc was Win 7 Home Premium).
They gave me instructions of mounting-mainly the Win 7 DVD tool and told me to follow the instructions at checkout a boot disk when the new drive has been installed, and everything will work fine - if only!
Installed the new hard drive (painless) and inserted the boot disk - no way that would work.
Called support MS - waste of time that was--without help from there either.
Has decided to re - install Home Premium original - which worked well (worked on mine - no. of Microsoft's help).
Have now tried to re - install the Professional upgrade, but said:
1 upgrade won't work - contact technical support
2. my version of Windows does not support the Express Upgrade (the computer is a little more than 3 years!).
Anyway, "called support, gave them the key to upgrade and said it was for Home Premium! Told them I am sitting watching the button upgrade to Win 7 Professional, and that's what I gave them.
The line goes dead for a while, and then he came back and said that they cannot help and try another Department.
They put me through, but was then listen to music for about 5 minutes before decide me hang up - what a waste of time!
This has been a long process and painful, so in desperation, I thought I would ask the community a solution before I throw this out the window and by a Mac machine!

32-bit to 64-bit is NOT an upgrade path.

It must be done with a clean installation using a Vista FULL 64-bit disk/license.

No, you can't, but if its Windows 7 Ultimate you want, simply use the Windows 7 Ultimate product key to upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate using Anytime Upgrade.

First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Ultimate edition at the request, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate files the stored settings and programs.

  • Re-install Windows 7 Professional after upgrade Express?

    Hi all:

I assembled a new computer in October 2010, by using the version of Windows 7 Home Premium system manufacturer.  I still have the product key and Win7-HP disc.
March 18, 2011, I upgraded the OS to Win7-Pro using the Express Upgrade feature.  Unfortunately, I have no record of it, because I don't remember which email address I used to upgrade.  I tried connecting the MS Store with different email addresses to try to find the order in the history of the order, but can't locate it :(
Yesterday, I decided to do a low-level format hard drive and do a fresh install of Windows.  I had another Win7-Pro disc lying around which I used to install the operating system.  However, I can't understand how to activate it.  The system will not take the Win7-HP original product key and I don't have a product key for Win7-Pro of the Express upgrade.
I can't find phone numbers with which I can contact Microsoft to know about it.
Suggestions, how can I find my product key for Win7-Pro so that I can activate this new install?
    Thank you!
    Dan Bauer

The first thing you need to do is to get your key to Windows 7 Professional upgrade Express:

An e-mail containing your product key will be sent to the e-mail address associated with your Windows Live ID account or e-mail address you provided if you ignored the account configuration. Note: If you use an email tool or spam blocker spam filter, be sure that you can receive e-mail messages from microsoft.com.

What happens if I lose my product key?

If you lose your product key, you can return to

www.Windows7.com/GetKey and sign in using the "Sign In" link in the upper right of the page. This will allow to recover your product key if you have established your account with your Windows Live ID. If you do not configure a Windows Live ID account initially there is no record of your online product key. Check your e-mail since it is the only trace of your product key.

    or

Here are four utilities, which can display your product keys if they are still there:
    Belarc Advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
(He did a good job of providing a wealth of information.)

    Also: http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml
    and: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html
and RockXP: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4138.html which has additional features.

    -------------------

The next thing you need to do is to reinstall the base license that you upgraded, Windows 7 Starter Edition or Home Premium.

If your computer is pre-installed with Windows 7:

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

-Samsung uses ESC on most of its systems

-HP use F9 on most of its systems

-Fujitsu uses F12 on most of its systems

-Acer use F12 on most of its systems, but often you need to go into BIOS to allow

    -Dell uses F12

In general, look at the screen during the POST for a tip for what is possible.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

If it was a store bought retail license:

After you have reinstalled your original license, make sure that it is enabled before doing the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

    ----------------------

    Redo the Express Upgrade:

Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional your files, programs and settings retained.

Go to reactivate the license again.

  • Since win 8, Fn + F8 upgrade only changes to the mode of plan on TECRA R850

    Hello

My Tecra R850 - 1 CL (with Ericsson 3 G modem) has 2 LEDs for the network: a yellow for the WiFi LED and one light blue for 3G.

Windows 7 64 bit, everything worked OK and Fn + F8 allows to enable or disable the WiFi and 3G.

Since I've upgraded to Windows 8, Fn + F8 works only in flight mode, yellow seeing Wifi is always the same mode aircraft and blue indicator of 3G is almost always on, even when 3G is not connected or when the adapter is disabled.

I did the upgrade of W8 with upgrade Toshiba Utilities, and the computer is up-to-date (BIOS and drivers).

How you can not get a correct behavior for network LED indicators?

    > Since I upgraded to Windows 8, Fn + F8 only switches in airplane mode

The Fn + F8 key combination 8 jobs to earn running a little different.

Using Win 7, FN + F8 combination switches between Wlan, 3G and Bluetooth but to help to win 8 key combination passes ONLY the airplane mode ON and OFF.

Apple does not sell any upgrade to the MacBook Pro retina. If you want to upgrade the internal memory, the connector is not standard m-SATA so your options are limited. OK, I upgraded my FF to the latest 5.0 version. Just after correctly updated to restart FF, they showed me pictures of a Firefox that's nothing like what I have. Why? Is it just because I use Windows XP instead of Vista/7? Why can't the brilliant new & improved FF 5.0 sport the same stylish look on my Win XP? Right out of the box? I guess that there are some arcane procedure to get this look, but why not make it by default? Why Firefox users who choose to stay on Windows XP should have to do with the vulgar look instead of the one snazzy?

All discrimination between users of Windows XP and Vista/7 from Microsoft is understandable because they are out & out commercial - the so-called 'evil empire '. Why Mozilla doing this same discrimination?

To help you get started - just right-click on the workspace toolbar and uncheck the menu bar. This will display your orange Firefox button. You can switch from one to the other.

  • Pavilion p6120sc: Vista to Windows 7 upgrade: how to find the necessary drivers, etc.

Cheap HP Experts, the Vista operating system in my Pavilion p6120sc must be upgraded to Windows 7. The compatibility test of Microsoft said that the current driver for my NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet is not valid in Windows 7. Therefore, I was advised to download the latest driver for this device in advance; but its installation should only be performed after the installation of Windows 7.

Problem 1: what is the right driver for NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet (i.e., valid in Windows 7), and where can I download safely to (without viruses etc.)?  -J' did an extensive search on Google but couldn't find an answer I could understand.

Problem 2: The compatibility test also advised me to Uninstall Hardvarudiagnostikverktyg version 5.1.5144.16 (PC-Doctor, Inc.) before upgrading the computer to Windows 7. However, I couldn't find such a program in my PC! Therefore, How can I uninstall it properly? (Is this program might somehow hidden in the HP service package that performs the Test of full operation of my PC once a month? Moreover, would the HP package function test no more if this particular program have been eliminated?)

    You are the very welcome.

You must install this driver before chipset update to W7, if you do an upgrade "in place", because the driver is good for W7 and Vista.

If you make an own (custom) upgrade (not to keep all programs, files or settings), then you must install this driver after you upgrade to W7.

All this driver will do is update the drivers for the motherboard and ethernet (the devices listed in the driver file page).

Driver Ethernet (v73.14 +) tools for network management (v73.16) "Sedona" SATA IDE Driver (v11.1.0.33) WHQL SATA RAID Driver (v11.1.0.33) WHQL RAIDTOOL Application (v11.1.0.30) pilot SMBUS (v4.74) WHQL SMU (v1.71) driver driver WHQL of GPU (v190.38) Physx (v9.09.0428) WHQL Away Mode Driver (v6.0.6000.114) WHQL Installer (v7.57) WHQL.

    Hello

I have 1 Airport Extreme, make a wireless network and I have 3 Airport Express, to extend the network.

the Airport Express Terminal 2 have connection whit Airport Extreme. The last of them is too far. The last of them can connect to one of the Airport Express 2 located in Pentecost Airport Extreme connection to expand further?

Sorry, but no.  The distant Express which is too far can connect to one of expresses it airport who are already extending the network... so that it can be used for AirPlay or to connect a USB printer. .. .but the distant Express cannot "extend" the wireless network and provide additional wireless coverage.

Ideally, your network could have AirPort Extreme, placed in a central location in the House, and each Express which extends the network would be located approximately the same distance from AirPort Extreme... and... ACH Express would be closer to the AirPort Extreme to another Express.

If this is not possible, then you need to look at a wired Ethernet cable solution for at least one of the Express features, or an Ethernet Powerline solution if you cannot run the Ethernet cable.

Outlook express 6 leaves the messages I send in my Outbox, for giving me an error message to check the details that there is none and then sending the message every 8 minutes except if it is deleted from the Outbox.  How can I fix

original title: Outlook Express 6 questions
You have apparent dbx file corruption.

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox, and then create the new box of sent, and sent items folders after you move all the messages that you want to put in a local folder that you create.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the DBX files for the items in the Outbox and sent and delete them.  New ones will be created automatically when you open OE.

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

Note that for some AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the program and reinstall in custom Mode and uncheck analysis when the option is the result of e-mail messages.

    Compact often as specified above.

    And backup often.
