  • I would take my existing Server 2008 and upgrade to Server 2012 and the purchase of a virtual server in a data center

    Original title:

    Virtualization server 2012

I got too many answers to this question. I need the correct answer before buying any CALs galore.

I would take my existing Server 2008 and upgrade to Server 2012 and the purchase of a virtual server in a data center. I have 25 computers that need to communicate with the server throughout the day, all the different machines. I want to know the best option without breaking the Bank. I permit the data center included in the package to my server.

  • Installation problems using the .img download Microsoft Action Pack on DVD for Windows 2012 Server Standard x 64

I tried to install Windows Server Standard edition 2012 x 64 who got burned on the delivery of download Microsoft Action Pack DVD.  Download of the ISO image is a file .img, site Web de Microsoft Action Pack.  I have downloaded several times and burned each image on a DVD.

When I try to install Windows Server 2012, after that select install, I get a pop-up message indicating, "a media computer driver needs is missing."  It could be a driver DVD, USB or HDD.  If you have a CD, DVD or USB flash drive with the driver on this subject, please insert it now. »

However, I don't know which driver it needs.  During my tests I initially wanted to install Windows Server 2012 on our VMware ESXi v5.1 environment, but got this error.  I then tried to install it on a physical server that I am able to install Windows Server 2008 x 64 and Windows 8 Pro on without no additional driver needed.  The system's hard drive is a standard IDE 120 GB drive and the DVD drive is an IDE drive as well.

I called Microsoft Action Pack support and they wanted me to pay for support to get this resolved, which I do not think that I would have to evaluate the software at this point.  They guarantee me that the download available for Action Pack Subscription holders is the necessary "correct".img file.

I also downloaded the eval FREE for Windows Server 2012 version, but not what I need for my tests.  This download version is a .iso file real vs file .img but won't install Windows Server 2012 Standard Evaluation (Server Core Installation), (with a GUI server) or data center evaluation edition.  This version will install, but isn't what I need and is very limited in functionality.

Someone else has had problems like this with the Microsoft Action Pack Windows Server 2012 Standard multimedia software installation process and found a solution to this?

    THX.

  • Windows 98 network with Server 2008 R2 foundation

I installed a Server 2008 R2 Foundation in mode working group. Everything works fine with XP Pro & home customers, profiles/passwords common user have been implemented on all computers. When I try to connect a drive on Win98, I get the error of $ IPC requesting a password. And of course no password I used doesn't do the job.

Any ideas on what to try?

  • Yellow! for VMware network driver after upgrade to server 2003

We have an older Windows Server 2000 guest who was P2V sometime.  It is one of our domain controllers.   In the process of migrating our AD domain until 2008, I have tried to upgrade this server to 2003 our ad can be in 2003 as part of the move towards 2008.   Long story short, in order to upgrade to 2003 server, I had to remove the old Compaq Network Managment of the machine software.  This software was not in Add/Remove Programs, then I went to the manual way to remove hidden drivers, when still it did not work, I have deleted all entries in registry SEO Compaq network management.  I proceeded with the upgrade, but when the system has finished, the LAN connection is missing, and Device Manager has a yellow explanation point to the NIC for VMware Acceleraged AMD PCInet adapter.

I recloné and resume the upgrade with only remove entries from registry for Compaq Network MGT.  Yet once, after an upgrade, the same problem appeared with the network card.

I don't know how to successfully remove the Ghost for the Compaq when the software seems to not exist on the computer.  (nothing in Add/Remove Programs, nothing in C:\program files, start anything in the 'Programs' from the menu list.

Once I get the error on the NIC card I can't fix.  I tried to reinstall the VMWare driver from the VMTools directory, but that still does not work.

Not sure about Windows 2000, but IIRC the HP drivers can be removed trough the network card properties!

Be sure to reconfigure the guest operating system to Windows Server 2003 in the properties of the virtual machine after the upgrade. I had probably also remove the NIC and add an E1000 NIC, which is the default value for Windows 2003 VMs.

  • (Redirected) Time to upgrade the server

I need to upgrade my server.

I've been using a 400SC for about 12 years with Server 2003 and it has served us well.

    I have 8 client machines.

The server is a domain controller and a file server for 2 programs.

No mail electronic or other uses.

I am trying to decide what machine to update and continue as we are for several years.

I hope I can shoot with Server Essentials of 2012.

One of my client machines is a precision with two Xeon processors T7400. I thought to use it just as a server. I also have a Poweredge 840 which I could resurrect.

Ideas or recommendations. Don't know about which way to go. I just want to be able to run another 5 or 6 years without having to upgrade again.

    I don't want a possible RAID.

Don't like a single HD in my server.

After up gradation finished, the found the network card is initially as new connection with all «automatically get them DHCP address» I check in 5-6 servers to upgrade all servers in jailbroken with N/W card. Why it's happening? upgrade breaks the network?

  • Windows Vista and Server Standard 2012

    Hello

I inherited the administration of a small building single LAN, with probably a maximum of 25 users. The vast majority of currently connected machines run Vista 32 bit. The newly installed server running Windows 2012 Server Standard. We do not have it staff to manage the network, and as I couldn't run fast enough, I am.

When the server has been installed, the company that installed it created user accounts staff, but said that it was impossible to make roaming profiles for Vista SP2 and it could only be done with SP3. I found the last Vista SP2.

I meet a lot of resistance in the building if the user needs to create a profile on each computer he uses rather than having a roaming profile, and so I was hoping someone could tell me if roaming profiles are an option for this combination of software and possibly direct me to a place where I could see properly how do.

    Thank you very much
