Upgrade of LiveCycle 7.2.2 to ES2

Hi all

I'm migrating my application LiveCycle 7.2.2 to Livecycle ES2, in accordance with the recommendations of Adobe, that the best way is to first migrate to LiveCycle ES and ES2. Is it possible to migrate directly to ES2, since it a very small app?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Kind regards

Yassine

Hi John,

There is no direct way to upgrade an installation of LiveCycle 7.2.2 to LiveCycle ES2.

You must either upgrade to LiveCycle ES or LiveCycle ARE Update 1 before upgrading to LiveCycle ES2.

Let me know if you need more information.

Thank you

Hina

No, Adobe Acrobat and LiveCycle Designer are separate products.

Acrobat X Pro, there was an interface of LiveCycle Designer. It is not available in Acrobat Pro DC.

  • Signature field and submit button does not

I've recently upgraded to LiveCycle Designer ES2 and problems with certain features.  I created a form with 3 fields of signature and a send button for the final signatory to email on the back of the form.  None of the signature fields works; or not the submit button.  I did everything the same as I had in the previous version of the software.  However, it seems that there are a few changes that I know.  I read about locking objects, but got a little confused.  Can someone tell me (in very lay terms) what I need to do to get these functions work?

I don't see a screenshot. If you have tried to contact by e-mail, that it won't work, you need to use the interface of the forum.

In any case, to enable a document depends on which version of Acrobat you are using:

Acrobat 9: Advanced > extend features in Adobe Reader

Acrobat 10: File > save as > Reader Extended PDF > activate additional features

Acrobat 11: File > save as other > Reader Extended PDF > activate tools plus (includes filling form & save)

  • What is correct etiquette I can put on the 'presence' for not to print?

    Hello.

What is the option that I take in the "presence" to visible just to the screen, not in print?

This opportunity are just the following:

    • visible (default)

    • invisible

    • hidden

    • simplex

    • two-sided

But everything appears on the print.

    Hi Rafael,.

It seems that you have a previous version of LC Designer. What version is this?

The current version and I think that version 8 of LC designer has the ability to define the presence of an object 'Visible (display only)' and 'Visible (print only). The first is what you're after.

The upgrade to the latest version (LC Designer ES2 version 9) can be a good idea, given that other improvements that can help.

That being said, you can get the same effect with script. This means that you must have the script in the pre-press and postPrint events subforms or individual objects.

In the case of pre-printing JavaScript:

hides the object just before it prints

this.presence = "invisible"; // or hidden, depending on what effect you want

    JavaScript in the postPrint event:

    this.presence = "visible";

I have here an example that exposes the properties of different presence. http://assure.LY/h0zpOz

    Hope that helps,

  • Migration of the data required for LiveCycle ES2 to ES4 upgrade?

    Hello

I'm working on the planning of a LiveCycle ES2 for JBoss ES4 for JBoss upgrade, where we seek to install ss4 on new hardware (Windows Server 2008 R2).

The plan is to install and configure ES2 as the previous installation and then run the upgrade of the ES4 on top.

We are looking at installing on servers from pre-production to the sides of the current production environment. The idea being that:

    • The application that uses the LiveCycle services will continue to use the current production environment until a failover of occurs, during which the consuming application will be directed to the new environment.
    • The test version of the application that consumes the LiveCycle services will be directed towards the pre-production environment so that it can be properly tested by users over a period of time.

Here is some additional information on the current environment:

    • Only LiveCycle modules configured are as follows: (LiveCycle is simply used to create PDF files from various formats of documents e.g. Office, software of CAD)
      • PDF generator
      • Reader Extensions ARE
    • We currently have three production facilities of LiveCycle, each with its own dedicated database
      • Balancer load A is used to distribute requests to each server. Each server has no knowledge of the other two servers and effectively operate independently each other.
    • Persistent storage of Document uses the GDS
      • Similar to the configuration of database, the GDS is specific to each facility and is a local folder on the server
      • These range from records of about 5-75 MB in size and the most recently updated files are since 2009

My question is based on the current installation of LiveCycle, is necessary to migrate the existing databases\GDS or can we simply create a blank database, and use Configuration Manager to create\update appropriate tables? If a data migration is required, is this repeatable (i.e. migrate us once during a pre-production test and then a second time for a production deployment)?

In addition, it is sure to re - run Configuration Manager in order to LiveCycle point on a server different database\database?

    Thanks in advance.

Going through your notes, it seems that it would be OK (because it is only PDFG and RE), if you come to create an empty database and use Configuration Manager for create\update the appropriate table. In addition, it is sure to re - run Configuration Manager in order to LiveCycle point on a server different database\database OR manually edit data sources via the application server console. Please do not forget to watch the new documents ss4 API(in case you are using the LC APIs to invoke the services through your application) to check if something has changed and test application yor with ES4.

  • Upgrade or install new for ES2?

We currently have LiveCycle ES (v8.2 SP3) / JBOSS installed in our environment.  We want to move to ES2.5 (v9.5) but don't know whether to modernize the existing [-> ES2 + SP2] OR create a new instance of the ES2 [+ SP2] on our server?

As all our workbench processes are short lived and we use no rights management I've read we can do either...  Anyone can comment on why / method which is best and why?

    A new installation is faster?

Our production environment is clustered between ServerA and ServerB.  Is the Group of our prod env, change your answer?

    We intend to upgrade production

    Stop the locators.

Stop the server has.  Transactions goto Server B.

    Upgrade server A.

Restart the server and stop the server B.  All transactions will be goto Server A.

    Upgrade server B.

    Restart the locators.

    Env focus again...

    Hi g5spark,

Yes, in case you choose to upgrade, you will have a downtime.

The downtime is necessary to perform a consistent backup data associated with your current system of LiveCycle.

These data will be used during the upgrade process, therefore, you must have a copy of it and it is also necessary in the event that you encounter an unexpected failure during the upgrade.

However, it is the ONLY required downtime.

In a cluster of LiveCycle, the contents of the Directory global document storage (GDS) and the database is shared between the nodes in the cluster, as a result, you can do an upgrade by node.

If a node is being upgraded, the other nodes will be automatically promoted GDS and database content. The only difference will be that upgraded node with new ears and nodes not upgraded will continue to operate old ears against appointed GDS and database, which may result in errors.

Yes, you can take advantage of you through import/export processes. Sorry I missed this in my previous answer. But yes, you will need to have the knowledge for the Application model in this case too. If upgrading, you do not need to do anything at all.

    Thank you and best regards,

  • possibility to buy LiveCycle Designer ES2?

My company needs to edit our existing LiveCycle Forms, but they are in the old format ES2 and open forms in the ES4, but some the workflow scripts are not visible in the ES4. According to what I read, the former XFA forms must be converted to make the changes I need to do, and it is not possible for us. Is it possible to get the ES2 somehow? I searched, and yesterday, I swore there is a link to contact Adobe for previous versions of LiveCycle, but I can't find it now. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply. I was able to download Acrobat X Pro, but ES2 seemed not to be included. BUT, you led me to the answer... ES2 is included in Acrobat X Suite

Thank you so much - you saved me a ton of headaches!

  • How to open an XML file in Adobe Reader on a form created in LiveCycle ES2

I need help to conversion or reading an XML file, I had sent me a form I created in Adobe LiveCycle ES2 without using Office Suite complete Adobe (I think that if I have any other programs, I wouldn't have to have additional permissions to see what I could create, don't you think?).  I'm looking to display the form in Reader or Acrobat or even in LiveCycle itself, and the course of my research I've just been hitting brick walls.  Any help out there?

If it is Acrobat X or more later, click on tools and go to the forms section. Perhaps more Options - form data management - Import.

  • Virtual Appliance LiveCycle ES2.5 assessment test

    Hello guys,.

I just downloaded LiveCycle ES2.5 assessment Appliance trial and after a lot of trouble, I managed to open Admin UI (http://yourIP:8080 / / AdminUI). I think you should definitely add to the readme.pdf file:

    • In VMware network settings check the "repeated physical network connection status" if you cannot log in Admin UI.
    • Also, you do not give the user name\password... So I had to get him... It's here: login: password 'atanaka': 'password' (this is the account administrator and workbench)
    • Add the correct link for Admin UI

OK, so I got it up and running (slowly but..) and I want to add Reader Extensions now using this help - I should browse to settings > Trust Store Management > local credentials but the problem is that my control panel is empty -> there is absolutely no possibility to choose from. What I am doing wrong? He also says that my license has expired 2 months ago.

    I'd appreciate some help here.

    Concerning

In case you have the same problem, here is the solution:

    Login with: 'administrator'-'password '.

and it works. I even managed to add Reader Extensions, and it seems to work.
