  They are two different programs.

  Acrobat

  This can be used to generate other types of document native PDF files. In addition, you can create forms that are called AcroForms. These retain most of the functionality that looks like in Acrobat to comment on.

  The form IS a PDF file.

  Acrobat is avialable for Windows and Mac.

  LiveCycle Designer

  This program is used to develop forms and is completely separate from Acrobat. The forms are called XFA forms, which means XML Forms Acrhitecture. The focus is quite the processing of data.

  While the forms that are created in the designer of the LC can be opened in Acrobat (Reader), they are not native PDF files and some of the features normally is not available. For example, while you can add data to the fields when the form is opened in Acrobat, you can not change the form itself in Acrobat. If you want to change the form, you will need to open again in LC Designer.

  It comes with the Windows of Acrobat Pro version. There isn't a Mac version of LC Designer.

  This is my first time using Acrobat and LiveCycle for design a form. Basically what I need is a title that is editable and that I want to insert a text box below so people can type in the box and then print the entire page with their comments. I can do all this, except that the problem is when I insert the text box, the cursor is justified to the left, but appears in the middle of the text box. So when people start to type, there is a huge gap between the title and what they typed. I want their typing will appear directly below the heading. What I am doing wrong?   You can have the text in the jusitied high-field. This is controlled on the palette of fonts. Activate the palette of fonts in the menu window. Usually, it will appear at the bottom right of the screen. Now highlight the field you want to adjust. Make usre that the paragraph tab is slected. Click on the little drop-down list arrow indictaed in yellow in the screenshot and select "change value". Now click the upper justification as indicated by the arrow in the csreen turned.

  My company is standardized on Adobe Acrobat and Reader version 10.  I currently have Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe LiveCycle ES v10.1.13 / 2.  I would like to add fields of signature at the bottom of the forms are made with these two products.  Is - it possible, or should I or should I for any other reason, the upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Pro v11 and LiveCycle ARE / 4?

  Hi dsh135,

  Yes, you can add a signature using Acrobat X field, but please note that the latest Acrobat XI (11.0.10) version, which has better and more flexible than the version features X.

  In Acrobat X, go in "tools > forms > Edit' and select the Digital Signature field and place it where you want on the form."

  Then you can open the properties of the signature field and make the settings you want.

  I am shopping for a good shape tool and have tried to use Adobe Acrobat and LiveCycle.  However, I stumbled upon a critical failure: you can't password protect a document editing content while leaving open for document Assembly.  So if people need to assemble custom of a pre-defined group of forms form packets, it must join also change the content of the form.  My company is much too large for this model works.

• Adobe Acrobat 9 and LiveCycle Designer

  We had a few creating forms of external aid and they have been using LiveCycle Designer and we would like to make a few changes, but given that we have only Acrobat 9 we are not able to open the form to edit the fields. When looking at the Help menu in Acrobat is stays you can use LiveCycle designer to modify forms created in Acrobat, however Acrobat cannot change the fields of forms that have been opened and saved in LiveCycle Designer.

  That said, do we not have LiveCycle and we don't know about it? Our foreign aid seems to think we should have? does anyone know a work around? Thank you!

  If you have Acrobat Pro or Acrobat Pro Extended, LiveCycle Designer is included with the installation. It is not included in Acrobat Standard.

  Assuming that you have Pro or Pro Extended, check the start menu for the program Designer - it will be with where ever Acrobat and Distiller are.

  The way I got it to print has been:

  Without opening the program, in the list of applications, move on to Adobe Reader and right click, select Properties.

  Go to the compatibility and click 'run as Admin '.  Reopen the application and all prints for me now.

  (This can only work with your personal computer if?)

  I'm trying to find an answer to help someone else troubleshoot.
