upgrade of Oracle 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.3 Linux database

Hello

I did some reading and I am gone so oracle documentation, but left me mixed and confused, so I'll ask a simple question hoping for a simple answer :-)
I have the Oracle 11.2.0.1 under Linux 5.7 Oracle database
When I try to install 11.2.0.3 (downloaded the latest version of the Oracle's Web site) I get a upgrade option, which is cool, but then he says I have to create a new home!
is there some way just to improve the database of 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.3 without having to create a new home? simply the update/upgrade?

hope somehow clarify this for me

On-site upgrade is possible, but not recommended:

    Hello

    Yes it is possible. You can review;

Compatibility matrix of Database Server Upgrade/Downgrade [ID 551141.1]

If the source database is 9.2.x then it can be downgraded to 8.1.7.3.0 (or higher)

If you want to downgrade your 9i database I would also advice to review the following:

  • The upgrade of Oracle client

    Hello

Recently, we have updated production company running on AIX 5 L of 10.2.0.1-> 10.2.0.4. There is little of siebel CRM applications where oracle 10.2.0.1 client was installed and these application using oracle client jdbc to connect to the database server.

I would like to know, claim we upgrade the oracle 10.2.0.1 client as well to the same group of patches from the database server (10.2.0.4).
do we have any Oracle recommendation for same? As this is a living environment and no results in loss of bussiness downtime.

    Thanks in advance.

Both your client software certified on the last group of patches, there is no reason do not improve the customer.

  • Upgrade of Oracle DB RAC/Clusterware 11.1.0.6 for 11.1.0.7

We currently have an installed Oracle and 11.1.0.6 with Clusterware running 11.1.06 and we have been informed by one of our suppliers to perform an upgrade for 11.1.0.7. I had a few questions regarding the upgrade process because I do not found the answers in reading me on the site.

    1. in the read me section it is this statement «The Oracle Clusterware software must be at the same or more recent than the software Oracle Oracle RAC Oracle home or home ASM.» Therefore, you should always pass Oracle Clusterware before you upgrade Oracle RAC or Oracle ASM. This patch does not allow to upgrade Oracle RAC or ASM Oracle before you upgrade of Oracle Clusterware. »

When I did the installation I downloaded 11g Release 1 and Clusterware 11 g release 1. Now, I know that the patch is for 11.1.0.7 database, this means that it is an inclusive to Clusterware? I tried to search in metalink in the "Fixes and upgrades" section for an 11.1.0.7 upgrade for RAC, but did not find anything.

    2. I plan to do this update on Saturday, while we have minimal connectivity. Can I still upgrade spread from the DSO even if we will have little to no connectivity?

    3. can I just use the dbca utility to upgrade the database or is it better to manually update each individual database, because I am running Clusterware.

I apologize if these questions are generic, but I wanted to just make sure that I understand very well what I'll do.

If I understood your question correctly then yes it's true that the clusterware version must be at the level even of the Oracle RDBMS / ASM houses in this cluster. The same group of fixes is applicable for Clusterware, ASM, and RDBMS and YES will modernize the binary relevant according to your selection of ORACLE_HOME, while applying to this group of patches using YES. It's the beauty of Oracle RAC that it allows you to perform the upgrade of the Clusterware and ASM then why not use it because it allows to avoid downtime. In your case if you can afford downtime, then it must be your choice to not use it. I recommend using dbua upgrade the database because he takes care of everything that is necessary to upgrade the database.

  • Upgrade of Oracle EBS base 10.2.0.4 for Oracle Database 12 c

    Hi gurus,

We are in the process of upgrading our EBS Oracle 10g database to 12 c and so below are the steps we took to upgrade the database with dbua 12 c

We have improved our database 10g of 10.2.0.4 to 10.2.0.5 compatible for the direct 12 c with dbua upgrade

    1 - install the Oracle 12 c software

    2. run the file from Oracle EBS environment that set the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID, but not ORACLE_BASE for the database that is upgraded

    3 - Go to the ORACLE_HOME\bin 12 c and run. / dbua

4 - 12 c dbua GUI appeared, but this isn't picking the 10g database in the Source ORACLE_HOME

What could be the cause and how is - this solve

  • User removed after the upgrade to Oracle 12 c

    Hello

Recently, I tried to update my database to Oracle Database 11 g Release 2 (11.2.0.4 and 11.2.0.3). After completing the "database upgrade Assistant" running, I discovered that the user logged on to my diet has been removed and I can not access the system.

During the upgrade of the "Upgrade database Wizard" process I couldn't remember see all which implies that the use could be deleted, pouvez please let me know what could I have possibly missed?

Notice that I can have full access to the user sys and system.

    Thanks in advance.

The upgrade doesn't drop not all database users.

I guess you mean the database user (account) - as visible in DBA_USERS.

Don't have you list the user names in DBA_USERS?

What is the error you get when you try to connect?  Distinction case password would result by "ORA-01017: name of user and password invalid; logon denied error message", simply because the failure of the validation of password (even if the user exists in the database)

  • Upgrading server Oracle 11 g to 12 c with GI/PAP

Hi to you all, I wanted to do an upgrade of my test system. I know how to change the database from 11g to 12 c independent but don't know how to do with IM and RAC. Based on what I've seen, it seems that this is the same process, but I can't find any official documentation. Upgrade the database first or go GI, how will I know what to do? Can someone provide documents for the upgrade of the Oracle 11 g database with RAC and IM 12?

    Thank you

You must first upgrade the GI, GI version will always be > = to the higher DB version in the cluster.

  • Upgrade to Oracle 11.2.0.4.6

    Hello

I am fairly new to the upgrade and patching of Oracle database and Oracle Grid.

I managed to update my database test and grid (stand alone / oracle restart) since version 11.2.0.3.0 to 11.2.0.4.0 successfully.

But now I want to upgrade / Patch even as a result of moving the 11.2.0.4.6 version number (as I see that there is such a version) so I installed the latest version, but this is where the confusion comes in.

I can't seem to find the appropriate fix than the progress of the version to 11.2.0.4.6. I tried to install CPU (April 2015) Patch # 20299013, but it installs only the security updates, what of the rest of the stability of bugs 11.2.0.4.6 etc?

The hope that someone could explain to me the mechanics autour patches, patch sets and also the critical patch updates?

How can I know who is the 'main' patch to install for the advancement of the version?

    Concerning

    Stephan

    Hello

the power supply for the network infrastructure includes the patch of the database. If you used automatic opatch to apply the hotfix, then home grid and home of the database have already been fixed. You need not apply the Patch 20299013 separately.

The number 5 you see as output of sqlplus or instance $ v is increased by applying a power supply to an oracle home. To check your power supply applied, use the controls of abhinivesh.jain.

  • Upgrade to oracle 9i to 11g

    Hello

I did it by certification OCP 9i in 2006 by prometric. Now, I want to give the review for upgrade to 11g (Oracle Database 11g: new features for 9i EFC 1Z0-055).

I joined pearson VIEW. Please let me know if I need to add my previous certification in order to apply for 11 g OCP?

Also, I read somewhere that I have to take a hands on training before the review... I'm confused about it.

Can you get it someone please let me know the procedure to register for the 11g upgrade exam.

    Thank you

You must get your CertView account if you have not already.  This will show all of your existing certifications.  When you register at Pearson, you must use the same Oracle test that is used with Prometric ID (and will appear in your CertView account.  Guidance on the transition from Prometric of Pearson view are detailed in the FAQ (link below).  Search for Prometric and you will get hits for answer about any question imaginable.

    Global FAQs

If you already have a 9i OCP, you do not need to take another course of training practice to upgrade to 11 g.  You should have already taken a course to achieve this designation.  If you're a 9i OChas, it's a different story.  If you're an OCA, then 1Z0-055 will not upgrade you to an 11g OCP.  You will need to take the 1Z0-034 and a training course to become a 11 g OCP.
