Upgrade of PeopleTools to 8.54 8.51

Team,

We are thinking of an upgrade of 8.54 8.51 and would like to know on what are the steps that can be performed in parallel to reduce the time to upgrade. In addition, there is minimal risk measures can be ignored...

All entries on this will be highly appreciated.

Thank you!

As CCR says, the only way to achieve synchronization for your systems is to carry out preliminary tests.

In my class upgrade, the Tools section takes around 07:15.  I could accelerate it if necessary in preparing exports of table following a development freeze.  This would save about 30 minutes on the tables of PeopleTools export step 04/03/14 system.  Similarly, no matter where scripts are generated, if your source has not changed (i.e. a gel development forced after PSG last of the trial), you are able to reuse the previous scripts and save a few minutes here.

In addition, almost three hours of my time to run statistics (twice).  If you find that performance is acceptable without these statistics, you could potentially save more time.  I've scheduled some tests for this further in our upgrade project.

Mind you, I've also included a script which gives an extra level of verification - which requires my current site.  This extra step is 30 minutes at the beginning and at the end of 30 minutes.

Finally, look at the DMS scripts are running.  A number of them use the code independent of the platform such as the XXX DELETE; who can be accelerated using TRUNCATE TABLE XXX;

How do you know where the time can be saved?  You perform a test run and look at the timings on every step.  Anything less than 30 seconds is not worth spending time on.  Nothing more than 5 minutes (an arbitrary value - set your own limit) is a potential target for further investigation.

I checked that it is a problem of Documentation and is not a problem with the model or the installer. The document should not State the requirement for the VIEW to define. It will be cleaned in the documentation, we followed this fix documentation internally. It remains that we must not libXext package must be installed. It is the absence (or the lack of packages upon which it depends) in the model livery is not a problem in my opinion. It would be convenient for these packages are available, but our overall goal is to be as usable as possible as well as models to have the bare minimum software delivered with them.

    Hello

Enter below the error message mentioned in connection in Data Mover & Appdesigner

"The database is free 8.51. The PeopleTools running require databases during the liberation of 8.52. ».

As Nicolas says you need a short walk over to your PT8.51 database PT8.52.11 of preforms. Rel852n.SQL running is only a first step.
As described in Chapter 7 finalization of database configuration of the Setup Guide of 8.52 PeopleTools to upgrade your PeopleTools to 8.52.11.

I still don't understand that you have downloaded FSCM 9.1 Feature Pack 2: V29133-01 and that is comes to 8.51.
I installed it a month ago and the same installation file was delivered to PT8.52.

Rather than upgrade your current database to PT8.52.11, I would say to download FSCM 9.1 Feature Pack 2: V29133-01 new and recreate your database.
    Why do I say that?
Because you clearly have an incorrect download and also missing patches that come preinstalled with FP2 review recut for this purpose.
Download FSCM 9.1 Feature Pack 2: V29133-01 and recreate your database, this way you ensure that your installation has FP2 and all patches up to FP2 preinstalled. This will save you a lot of time...

  • Could not find any of the links in the menu

    Hi guys,.
I did an install of PT8.51 on Oracle11gR2 on Win2k8R2 64-bit. All scripts executed correctly. Everything went well. IAM using 2 machines i.e. one as an application server and the other as a database server. I have configured the application server and started. I have configured the PIA and I logged in it, but to my surprise I find no links or anything like that on the menu. Why does. I have to run all the scripts to assign the PS of the permissions to access the menu or what? Pls help me. What I have to do no matter what other configuration on any of the servers?

Are you sure that you successfully upgrade of Peopletools 8.51?

  • Regarding installation of the revision pack.

    Hi Nic,
Hope you will be fine. Support team told me that I can jump packs of maintenance by application of the revision pack. So, I need your help about this management system human resources PeopleSoft Enterprise which can and Campus Solutions 9.0 - revision 1 is applied during the installation of basic HRMS and 9.0 Solution Campus? I also want to know if there is a sine qua non for this?

As I told you in one of your previous thread, Rev may or may not include all the maintenance pack. Since some maintenance packs were delivered after revision, you must apply to them. You must read the document entering the package downloaded for more information. Delivery, the read me button opens a new page with everything you want to know, including the prerequisites:
"+ * HRCS 9.0 - review * 1: HRCS 9.0 - Media Review 1 (part V20635-01 number) has replaced the HRCS 9.0 media (number B34591-01)." Review media 1 include all maintenance up to and including PeopleSoft HRCS 9.0 Service Pack 8. If you install support for revision 1, you have no need to separately install PeopleSoft Enterprise HRCS 9.0 Maintenance Packs 1-8 (... jumped...). All HRCS 9.0 - revision 1 facilities require PeopleTools 8.50.03 or higher. Please see the documentation for upgrade for PeopleTools needs for your specific upgrade path. + »
This means that all the new MP should also apply. And since the MP9 and MP10 are released, you must apply them, or just the MP10 if there is a cumulative.

Please let me know if anyone experienced this or has any ideas.  I'm waiting on Oracle to react to the case after I opened it when their suggestion didn't work.

    Thank you

    Ryan

I ended up working with Oracle Support, that had me do some things... I also did a thing on my own and with these changes, I am able to connect now.  If it does not please let me know... I tried a few other things that I don't think had no effect.

    (1) removed the Environment Variable "PS_SERVER_CFG" - I found in a document oracle that this could cause problems.  I have not set this manually, but Oracle says it is used to run data mover or SQR scripts outside of the process scheduler.  It must have been added as part of the installation so I'll add it again later.  This change did put a slight change to error messages, so it have some effect, but does not solve everything.

    (2) with the upgrade of 8.53 8.54 I had to add a 32-bit ODBC user DSN.  Even if change assistant 8.54 uses 64-bit, it seems that 8.53 connections are still serving who connects via ODBC 32-bit.

    (3) make sure that the paths configured in the wizard to change are not UNC, if they are matched with a drive and configure using readers.

    Good luck.

  • Favorites missing after upgrade to PT 8.53.23

Favorite with add and edit Favorites favorites are no longer visible after an upgrade of PT 8.52.06 PT 8.53.23 in our CRM 9.1 DEV environment. Under the Structure and content for the two favorites add and change references to favorite content, permission lists appear. Sync Collection security and security of site synchronization process were executed to success. If I add the role of the administrator of the portal my user profile, favorites are all here. We cannot add this role to all users. What Miss me?

Please check the security on the folder 'My Favorites '.

See-> E - SEC: What permissions are necessary to grant "My Favorites"? (Doc ID 664987.1)

The 'My Favorites' menu link is a file and not a page or an ARB.  Security cannot be granted to a whitelist so that it can automatically view the 'My Favorites' folder in the left menu.  The delivered permission related to the 'My Favorites' folder list is PTPT1000.  If the granting of permissions to users this list gives too much access, a list of custom permission to provide this access.

To grant access to Favorites Add and change the links under 'My Favorites' do the following:

    1. the list of custom permission must grant full access to the PORTAL_ADMIN menu Security page PORTAL_EDIT_FAV and hardware PORTAL_ADD_FAV.

    2. go to PeopleTools-> Portal-> Structure and content-> hidden tools.  In this case, there will be two Csrsfi: 'Add to Favorites' and ' change favorite.  In these two, make sure the custom permission list shows under the tab 'security '.  It should be here, because access was given through the permissions list.

    3. navigate to PeopleTools-> Portal-> Structure and content.  Click on 'Edit' on the record 'My Favorites '.  Look at the Security tab and make sure that the custom permission list shows here.  If it is not the case, you must manually add the list of permissions.

The folder 'My Favorites' must always be manually updated and running synchronization of security portal will not grant this access.  Another option is to make the 'My Favorites' folder 'Public' so that all users can see this folder, and security settings are not required for the folder.

  • PeopleTools 8.53.22

We will be upgrading our worm PeopleTools 8.53.06 to 8.53.22 in the next 2 months.  (We will be upgrading to version 8.54 in about a year)  PeopleTools 8.53.22 is stable?  Are there any known bugs or "traps" with this version?  Are also the latest critical updates included in the PeopleTools.  We are on PeopleSoft 9.2.02.  Any suggestions or ideas are appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello

While I can't answer your question directly, I'll provide as much information as possible.

Like all changes to the code, a patch of tools (8.53.06 to 8.53.22) requires extensive tests in your environment.  I understand that you request a general "is everyone else happy with this version', but the truth is nobody else is likely to use exactly the same way you are.  At the same time, an application of the patch has much less risk than the upgrade (e.g. 8.53 to 8.54).  However, I have been using 8.54 all this year and highly recommend you just patch your version of the tools.  It is good that you planned, but surely the effort you spend on the patch tools would be replicated in the upgrade, so you would get more advantageous to put this effort in upgrading earlier (possibly skip the patch altogether).

In addition, as a general rule, higher versions of patch are usually more stable.  In my view, there was enough of a problem with 8.54.04 when it came out, but 8.54.08 is out.  By patch 08, I expect all underlying traps to have been ironed out.  I realize that this is in a bit of a ghost waiting - as I have little knowledge of bugs accurate as long as they are fixed - however higher patches are less likely to implement changes to the basic elements, that these changes will simply be moved to the next version.  I know 8.55 features already spruiked, is now the case for 8.54 as well.

So ultimately, while I have no experience of 8.53.22, so I have it 'should' be stable.  I also recommend that bring your upgrade tools to the front if you can - especially if that means that you can ignore the effort to patch tools.

  • Projects to compare a tools only Upgrade

    Team,

I would like to know on what are the projects that are supposed to be compared a Peopletools Upgrade only.

    Thanks in advance.

Take a look in your database for the project named PPLTLSxxCUR and PPLTLSxxCURDEL (where xx = 84 for 8.4 x tools).  Also look for projects named PATCHxxx (e.g. PATCH854) for the latest patches of tools.

Please note that many of the contained objects have no relevant compare reports and some of these objects may also be imported using Data Mover scripts, rather than project imports.

Hi everyone, someone has met the above message when trying to open the designer for the app or Data Mover?

We currently perform a PT8.47 to PT8.51 peopletools upgrade, I was able to run the application PT847 and Data Mover earlier, but after trying designer to run the UPGCOUNT app engine via command line, I encountered the error "Peopletools has stopped working". After receiving the error, I now cannot open the appdesigner and the Data Mover for PT847. The app designer and Data Mover for PT851 is OK.

We are on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit, Oracle 11.2.0.3 and as directed by the engineer, oracle, pt847 should work on this version of windows.

We have re-installed PT847 and restarted the server, but still encountered the problem. Please notify.

I don't think so. According to the note * PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools PT 8.47 Certifications [749107.1 ID] * + - only 32-bit Windows XP Pro, 2003 and Vista are supported as a client of this version of Peopletools.
In addition, Oracle 11 g is not supported nor (the highest version is 10.2.0.4).

    This is my PS_home, D:\PT8.45

How can I change my name like this D:\pt8.50 PS_home

Could you please help me with this ASAP

    concerning

Create a backup of you old ps_home first of all, of course, you can restore all changes.
New ps_home and rename it to ps_home and install pt8.50.

Before you start, have you checked the matrix certification? I was wondering if your current operating system is certifited on pt8.50.

  • 84819 to 850 X upgrade

    Hello
We are planing to upgrade our 84819 PT.
Initially, we thought to upgrade to 850.08, but then, we notice that the 8.51 version is available.
I'd like to get your opinion in what option should I take?
Does anyone have good expirience with 851? Is - this version is stable?
    Thank you

Since you have not yet improved, then I second Michel, skip PT8.50 and go directly to PT8.51. 6 patch was released last Friday, it should now be a production ready version of Peopletools.
As we said already, make sure you close the compatibility matrix within the layer (client server OS, OS, database...) as well as the level of your application.
In addition, in accordance with the plan presented during the last Oracle Open World, Oracle will release a new version of Peopletools annually, this means at the end of 2011, the PT8.52 goes out - stop patches on PT8.50, it would be a shame to be already two versions behind later.
You are also able to test it for free without too much effort, by deploying the latest model of Peoplesoft LMOS HCM9.1 on Peopletools 8.51.02.

  • How to uninstall PeopleTools 8.50 PeopleTools 8.49?

    People,

Hello. I'm level PeopleTools 8.49 to 8.50. The procedure is the following:

    Step 1:
Install PeopleTools 8.50 3-disc to the directory in which the PeopleTools 8.49 existing is installed (C:\PT8.49).

    Step 2:
Install PeopleSoft change Assistant 8.50 and configure it.

    Step 3:
Download an appropriate http://support.oracle.com upgrade model.

    Step 4:
Import the model to upgrade into change Assistant 8.50 and follow the steps to upgrade 8.49 to 8.50 PeopleTools.

Because I can not download an upgrade of http://support.oracle.com model, I can't upgrade PeopleTools 8.49 to 8.50. I need to recover the existing PeopleTools 8.49. So my question is:

How do I uninstall 3 disks of PeopleTools 8.50 PeopleTools 8.49 (C:\PT8.49) as well as recover PeopleTools 8.49?

I use Windows Server 2003 64-bit. I don't think 10gR 3 Tuxedo for MS Windows Server 2003 32 bit can be installed in my computer.

However, it does. And this is the supported configuration.
