Upgrade of RAM 2 GB of Crucial on Qosmio G20

Hello.

I bought an upgrade of RAM (2 x 1 GB SODIMM) 2 GB for my Crucial G20-108, listed here http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpar...9C324BA5CA7304 but chips won't work in my machine.

The first set, I bought and installed, cannot start Windows and MemTest86 didn't immediately. I tried each piece individually and both together, the BIOS (1.20) recognizes the amount of RAM, but Windows does not start (Gets a few seconds and crashes) and as I said, MemTest86 failed.

RMA I got them and and got a new set, but they are not exactly the same way. The chips are listed as PC2-4200-s-444-12-A0, then DDR2 533 CL4. I noticed that the 512 Mb chip work that I have in my machine is listed as PC2-4200 s-444-10-A0. 12-A0/10 - A0 is important at all? I'm not sure that the 2 sets of RAM from Crucial, which should be compatible with my machine, must both have the same defect, is there a BIOS of RAM setting I missed that I need to address before they will work?

Settings of RAM seem non-existent when I look in the BIOS upgrade to 1.30 will add additional options such as schedules or speed?

Any advice would be appreciated,

Steve

Hello

You haven t missed anything
After you insert the memory modules, the BIOS should recognize all of the memory and the laptop should boot correctly.

If this is not possible then the RAM modules are faulty or not fully compatible!

Modules Qosmio G20-108 supports DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM

On the page of Toshiba Europe-> Option & accessories you will also find the compatible modules.

My recommendation is: use the new modules recommended by Toshiba

  • Upgrade of RAM for hp G62-451sa

Hey, my names Tom and I'm new to this forum.

I have a 2 HP G62-451sa bought new years. I discovered that my use of physical memory is extremely high (80-90%) of the 3 GB of Ram (1 GB + 2 GB) I have. I have a 64-bit windows, and I'm looking for RAM upgrades. Can I switch to 8 GB (2 x 4 GB)? and if so where can I buy those replacements of 4 GB of ram for my model because I have found none to my computer through to look at many sites such as crucial.com etc... But what can I use other upgrades of RAM for notebooks G62 like G62-450sa?

    Thank you

    Tom

    Hi, Tom:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02542455.PDF

Chapter 1 page 1-1 provides the memory upgrade information (Yes, you can install 2 x 4 GB of PC3-8500 memory or 10600).

Just make sure you get chips with 8 black memories of each side of the Board.

Unless you live in the United States, I know not what brands are available in other countries or where you can buy them.

  • HP Pavilion p6520y desktop PC: need help to upgrade my ram

I have a HP Pavilion p6520y Desktop PC model #: WW636AA with a FOXCONN 2 92 motherboard, AMD 785 G Chipset. I'm currently upgrading my ram of the current 6gbs maximally whatever my computer supports. My motherboard says it supports up to 16gbs (since I am running Windows 7 64 - bit), and I'm trying to figure out what I should update.  I scanned my pc on Crucial and they gave me a bunch of suggestions, but I still don't know what I should buy.

Is it smart to upgrade to the maximum ram and what type of memory should I update? In addition, my computer can even support 16gbs of ram? I have receieved conflicting information about it and I need to check the info I got is correct. I will include a picture of my computer listing of Speccy.

There are a few suggestions on crucial, such as the Crucial Ballistix Sport 8 GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3-1600 UDIMM LP or the Crucial Ballistix Sport 8 GB Kit UDIMM DDR3-1600 (4GBx2) or 8 GB Crucial Kit UDIMM DDR3-1600 (4GBx2) and so on. (I don't know if you can see the recommended memory when you view my scan. I guess you can, but might as well include some of them that I'm interested in.)

Here are the specs of the computer of Speccy:

Thanks for the help in advance!

The funny thing is, I was about to buy this one right before I posted this, but I just wanted to see what others thought and if I'm right that my pc supports this amount of RAM. Thanks for the suggestion and response

  • Upgrade of RAM Acer Aspire 1830 t

    Greetings,

I'm running into a problem to upgrade the RAM on my Aspire 1830 t-3425.  There currently 2x2G of PC3-8500 ram in it, but I found the information that says that it will take up to PC3-10600 ram 2x4G.  (http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Aspire%201830T%20TimelineX&Cat=RAM is my source)

I tried two different sets (from two different manufacturers, Corsair and Patriot) and they both met the same problem.  Once installed, I can reboot the system and look in the bios to confirm that the system sees the RAM, it does.  However, when the system continues to boot in Windows 7, the start screen displays for only a few seconds before the system restarts.  Running MemTest +, I can see that the system analyzes only the first 4 GB of ram, until the system restarts.

I have two questions at this stage.

    (1) is there something I'm missing in what concerns the type of ram that will support this laptop?  I can't find the hard specs on what requirements should memory be for this laptop.

    (2) at - it something wired or set in the bios that prevents the system to accept more than 4 GB of ram?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

    Hello again!

As I said before, I never knew Crucial to be wrong, but I have a feeling that they might well be this time!

Everything indicates that 4 GB is the maximum:

Your PC not recognizing 4 GB

    Own SpecSheet from Acer

The discussion of other users of 1830 t confirming it on Amazon

If the maximum of your motherboard is 4 GB, it is not possible to upgrade more far away...

  • I want to upgrade the RAM in my Acer Aspire 5736z-4826.

I want to upgrade the RAM in my Acer Aspire 5736z-4826. I've seen different specifications on the laptop. Some people say that it can hold 8 GB of RAM and some say 4GB. I don't know the exact type of RAM that works. I ordered 2x2gb RAM PC3-12800 DDR3 of Crucial, and he was not compatible and caused the screen doesn't Flash at max resolution. I think the problem is, it should be PC - 8500 DDR3 RAM. Can someone please give me some information since there is NO information on the web on this particular laptop. Thank you.

I don't have the model of your computer, but sometimes when there's confusion about what memory, people use Speccy or CPU - Z or HWinfo to determine what memory is currently installed.

  • Upgrade of RAM works only on Intel S12

I tried to upgrade the ram on my new S12 Intel. I bought a 2 GB Crucial 2 GB DDR2 667 from Newegg and during installation, the S12 will not start. After turning on, there isn't any screen. All returns to normal after removing memory. Does anyone have any ideas or other experience upgrade memory on a S12 Intel?

    Thank you

    Jim

I found that you can't add a 2 GB module. As noted, my S12 Intel would not start after the insertion of a 2 GB module. However, I could be upgraded using a 1 GB module.

  • Upgrade the RAM, I am lost in all the different attributes

    Hello

I thought that the Ram is easy to choose, but it seems I was mistaken. I can't understand the different characteristics. Adding to the confusion is the search engines memory memory manufacturers.

My system is Dell Inspiron 15R SE 7520.

Kingston also compatible watch this model: KTD - L3C / 8G which works at 1.5V
Crucial shows compatible like this: CT4522510, but it works at 1.35v

In my system, I have 4 GB Hynix HMT351S6EFR8C, 1.5V.

I would like to buy a 8GB module and add up so I have 12 GB. I don't care two-channel.

The most common module with similar characteristics I can buy easily (without order from international stores) is Kingston KVR16S11/8.

Can you please tell what should I do?

    Thank you

    Hello

I'm looking into upgrading the RAM in my alienware X 51, now I have 4 GB and I'm running 50% only at idle. I would get 8GB (2x4GB) but I'm having a hard time finding the RAM that will work for me. I looked at a few (links below), but not sure if they work?

Ok... I used utility upgrade crucial .com as well as live what dell sells and it seems that the X 51 uses memory ddr3 1600 nonECC 1.5V... it has 2 slots which can treat up to 16 GB... both the example you listed should work... you don't need ram with the stupid heat sinks , but it's not like they would be either in the way

  • Upgrade of RAM for Satellite Pro S300-11

    Hello
I have this netbook for two years now and I need to add more memory RAM, it has 2 GB and is capable of having up to 8 GB.
I went to two local stores to buy a memory stick, but they are not able to find my netbook to their suppliers, so that they have no idea what memory modules could go well with my pc. I know that the installed RAM module is a DDR2 at 800 MHz. So, any module of ram with these specifications should work correctly?
Another question is if my computer is able to read up to 8 GB or I have to upgrade the BIOS (I have not updated, so I have one pre-installed).
Thanks for your reply and sorry for my English!
    See you soon!

    Hi manelfera,

The laptop has Intel GM45 chipset and the chipset supports up to 8 GB of memory. This means that you can install 4 GB module in both memory slots. As you already wrote DDR2 800 MHz is the correct specification.

Theoretically, each module with this specification will work, but I recommend the purchase of high quality of Kingston for example modules. I have good experiences with this brand :)

Updating the BIOS is not necessary for the upgrade of RAM so you can keep the current version.

  • Upgrade of RAM 550 d-105 NB

    Hello

I have a Toshiba NB 550 d-105 netbook, and I want to upgrade the ram in it. I read that the restriction of 2 GB ram is only because of Windows Starter.

Processor AMD C-50 supports 4 GB of RAM? If so, does that mean I close no start and change of normal Windows 32-bit OS or 64-bit?

    > I read ram 2 GB restriction is only because of Windows Starter

Upgrade RAM depends on the chipset.
Also 32 bits of the system supports max 3.2 GB of RAM if you want to use more RAM 4 GB, 8 GB, etc. then you must use a 64-bit system.

    Regarding the NB550D-105:
As far as I know the 1 GB or 2 GB RAM (DDR3 1066 Mhz or 1333 Mhz) memory sticks can be installed.
Some models could handle 1 GB or 2 GB modules (DDR2-800 and DDR3-1066 or 1333 Mhz DDR3)
