Upgrade processor LENOVO C540

Hello.

Going to change the processor in Lenovo C540 all-in-One desktop Core i3 - 3220T for the Core i7 - 3770S

First, I checked the FCLGA1155 socket and chipset motherboard H61, they are compatible with the new processor.

Then I bought a new original adapter 160W (former was 120W) to adapt to the new processor power consumption. 65 w instead of 35W.

And then I looked on all the C540 models to understand what type of processors are available for this model. And core i5 - 3330S is most powerful of them.

The power consumption of the core i5 - 3330 s and core i7 - 3770 s are the same. And they have the same cooling system.

So the question is. Is it possible to change the 3220T - i3 to i7 - 3770S on Lenovo C540 with such conditions?

I think that all models of C540 has the same cooling system. I didn't?

Hi, Blaze,

Thanks for posting

This can help

(In English) Manual of Maintenance of hardware Lenovo C540

Page 54/69 shows

The Core i7 - 3770S processor is included in the list of the parts for this model.

Your System Configuration passes both requirements of the processor.

It should work.

  • Upgrading processors N100 0689-29U

I've seen several posts on upgrades of the processor for the N100 and I wondered if they work for all types of N100 laptops.

Mine is a type of N100 0689-29U that currently has an Intel Centrino Duo T2300 (1.66 GHz). I would like to move to something of 2 GHz or more if possible. I am running 2 GB of RAM, which was the max Lenovo said that will support the machine.

The reason for my upgrade is an attempt to accelerate a fire modeling program that I am running. Is it a upgrade processor speed up my computing power or would I waste my money?

    Thank you.

You have the format socket M, which are compatible with the following types of CPU.

    Intel Core Solo
    Intel Core Duo
    Intel Core 2 Duo (T5x00, T7x00)
    Intel Celeron M

However, there is a limited support for the version chip Socket M Core 2 Duo T7x00, a bios flash may be needed to do their jobs, but most of these Core 2 Duo chips are quite expensive.

CPU represents that part of the bottleneck of performance in a laptop, there is also the factor of GPU, ram, optimization of the software and hard disk file fragmentation.

If you're going to get a CPU, you should consider the T7x00 series, however, they run a tad warmer that CPU you have now.

But rather than make an upgrade with your laptop, I probably just save money and get a half decent job for modeling programs.

You can only change an AMD FM2 + APU

The FM2 + compatible processors are listed on this link from HP. See the section upgrade processor.

Just about any interior 6 GB/s SATA SSD will be compatible, with the exception of NVMe types.

    SSDS m2 are not compatible.

But I can answer here using information from other G4 computers:

    (a) for CPU: you need to replace the motherboard too and it is a very expensive upgrade. Please read the manual on the link third next (page 84):

    (b) no doubt a no, can't you straight up to 90% of laptops can't do this part, including yours.

  • Using Lenovo C540 all-in-one as a second screen

I recently bought two computers, a laptop Asus desktop Lenovo C540 all-in-One touchscreen, Windows 8 and Windows touch, 8.

The issue I'm facing is to attempt to use the Lenovo as the 2nd screen to the laptop. Is this possible with an all-in-one device since it is not a stand-alone monitor? If so, how would I go on this subject?

I tried just to plug in an HDMI cable between the two and go in the options screen 2, but which have resulted in nothing.

    Hi Bushy808,

Welcome to the Community Forums of Lenovo!

I checked the C540 details and the HDMI on the back is only for HDMI output

The unit is has a HDMI to display an external device on its screen.

    Best regards

My gateway has the 4006153R (Love Valley G) of Intel G965 Viiv Motherboard. The Core 2 Duo E6300 processor has an identifier (SL9S5) on the processor. I have the motherboard and processor supported of the gateway information for upgrades of the processor. If I chose a compatible with the motherboard upgrade processor, the processor must have the same SL * as the current processor if the BSF MHz and required socket are identical? My processor is not incorporated and uses the LGA775 socket. Answers to the specific question are greatly appreciated!

No, there is no way that you can change easily, he need to desolder and solder again to get the new one, but it's quite difficult to do for those without experience. So it is absolutely impossible, and despite this it would not be much difference between these 2

  • Upgrade processor R60e

Hello, this is my first post here, just joined!

    I have a R60e with Intel Core Duo T2300E @ 1.66 GHz (667 MHz) with Chipset: Intel i945GM.

I intend to upgrade the 512 MB RAM to 3 GB of RAM very soon.  But what I want to know is:

    1. What is the processor the faster/better compatible for an upgrade?

    2. can I do it myself?

3 should I even not bother and just save for a higher laptop model?

I'm ready to do it myself by simply following the instructions step by step on the Lenovo support page.  I thought that was the most high, I shopped for around 2 GHz or maybe 2.5 GHz?

    Thank you!

T7700 doesn't work in the R60e, you would need a T7xxx CPU which has bus 667 MHz front end.

I think that the radiator/fan is always the same.

  • Portege R500 - Upgrade processor and RAM

Can I put in my proceror R500 and RAM?
Is possible? If Yes, how can you procesor I used?

    Robert

    Hello

    You can upgrade the RAM.
You can use the DDR2 667 MHz (PC2-5300) or 533 MHz 200 - PIN SODIMM modules.
You can use a 1 GB RAM module this is the max!
There is also an internal RAM which can be removed if only one slot is expandable!

With regard to upgrading the CPU.
Usually it s not advised to replace/upgrade of the processor because the BIOS has not been tested with other processors
