Upgrade the HDD satellite 2450

Hi all
After reading a bit on issues related to atmosphere on the laptops HARD drive, I am writing to see if anyone has any experience to do so on a Satellite 2450 model (-101), which came with a 30 Gb HD (MK3021GAS).
I want to install a HDD of 80 GB (such as MK8025GAS), can anyone give me an advice on which model HD would be best to use? Behind the possible limitations of the BIOS, I noticed a different interface specification (for example it is ATA - 6, while my current is DMA/ATA-100, and I'm not sure about the significance of this...).
Thank you very much in advance,
Alberto.

Hello

I studied a bit and I found information that the unit supports only 30 GB, 40 GB and drives hard 80 GB.

HDD2181B 30 GB
HHD2182B 40 GB
HDD2171B 40 GB
HDD2183B 60 GB
HDD2184B 60 GB

HARD drive supports 100 MAX Ultra DMA mode
Hope this will help you a bit

  • Upgrade the HDD on the Satellite U200

3 months ago I bought a Toshiba SATELLITE PRO U200 Jarir Bookstore in Saudi Arabia and I now want to move the HDD of 80 GB to 160 GB.
However, I note that 1.46 GB the drive hard EISA is partitioned and is not assigned a drive letter. I guess that's the operating system or something like the laptop came preloaded with Windows Vista Business.
I have the DVD of restoration and would normally just mount the new drive and boot from the DVD following the same procedure as a normal PC. But I can't copy the EISA partition on the new disk. How to pass on the new disk?

    Hello

Why not to duplicate the entire HARD drive on the new. There are enough programs fulfil-> www.ubcd4win.com.

Otherwise just install your new HARD drive in your machine, perform a restore of the system on your new HARD drive, copy your files on it and that's all. Don t worry about the partition, if it s on your old HARD drive and restoring the system should probably create it on the new hard drive.

You won´t know until you've tried it. :)

Please give some feedback after your restored your system, would be interesting to know if the recovery has created a new partition "EISA".

    Welcome them

  • Upgrade memory for satellite 2450-401

    Hi guyz,
I want to upgrade the memory of my satellite 2450-401: as what is written in the manual, it can support a maximum of 1 GB memory (512 MB each slot), but according to www.crucial.com it would accept up to 2 GB (1 GB each slot). Actually notebook chipset (intel 845) can support 2 GB of memory, but I'm a bit confused: is the information declared in the toshiba manual correct? Or can I install 2 GB?
    I thank in advance
    Luca

    Hi Luca

I have to be honest to you and in this case, I think that the information in the manual of Toshiba I correct. It is possible that this can work, but you must be careful with this. If there is warranty of curcal.com that it will work correctly you can buy it. In the other direction to install just the size given in the manual of Toshiba. It will work correctly because it has already been tested.

    Good bye

  • Re: upgrade memory for Satellite 2450-101

I would upgrade ram memory up to the maximum limit of 1 GB.
    I found these memory, Kingston:

    KTT3311/512 512 MB DDR SODIMM

    KTT3614/512 512 MB DDR SODIMM

Could someone tell me these memory well works with Satellite 2450-101?

    Thank you

Yes, the Satellite S2450 supports max 1 GB.

The laptop needs RAM PC2100, but you can also buy PC2700 or PC3200. It's down in a compatible way.
So I think you could buy Kingston RAM. I've had RAM Kingston too and never had any problems with it.

  • T61 - unsuccessful attempt to upgrade the HDD using "Acronis True Image - disk clone".

    T61, Win XP Pro,

Problems with the free space on HDD - disk(160GB) factory original is more than 90% full.

There are a lot of existing user settings and the user information on the HARD drive - of the specific settings for different network environments (home network, company network, VPN, etc.), specific applications, a lot of drivers for specific devices, many documents and photos and other information.

So, we need to upgrade the disk, but we do not want to go back to factory state - we want to keep all existing user settings and user information.

The existing drive was dismantled and connected to a standard desktop PC.

And using "Acronis True Image Home" the existing drive has been cloned again drive WD Scorpio Black 320 GB.

There is not any errors during the cloning process.

But when we set up the new drive of the laptop, the OS has not started - black screen with blinking cursor only flashing white dash (top left). So, we put back the old disk, in order to work.

After cloning, we see the new disk is similar, as it is on the old drive. There are two partition - hidden, system partition partition with Windows XP and all user folders and documents. Thus, we believe that the problem is only in part "start".

Everyone can us advice what is the problem.

Or we let another solution how to change the drive, but without going to the factory condition.

    Thank you

Hi MitkoS and welcome to the Lenovo user community!

Try a clone "reverse" as described in Acronis forums:

  • Upgrade the HDD in Equium M50-192

    Hi all

I have a laptop Equium M50-192 with the HDD 60 GB MK6021GAS inside.
Does anyone know if I can improve it with the hard disk of 120 GB MK1646GSX.

I found the site http://www.storage.toshiba.eu and I checked the two discs; but I don't know if the MK1646GSX disk has a compatible interface type.
I am confused about the differences between ATAPI/IDE (60 GB MK6021GAS) and Serial ATA (120 GB MK1646GSX).

Basically can anyone tell me if the 120 GB MK1646GSX will work instead of the 60 GB MK6021GAS?

    Any help gratefully received.

    Zoe

    Hello

There is a big difference between the IDE HDD and the SATA HDD interface!

Equium M50 supports the IDE interface and only IDE hard drives are compatible.
You can use a HARD drive that supports IDE ATA-6 interface.

In addition, you should know that the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation. This means that not all HARD drive sizes are supported.
In my opinion the 120 GB should be ok but it s just my personal suggestion. You know? ;)

  • Installation problems after upgrade the HDD on Satellite Pro A120 (PSAC1E)

    Hello

I've recently updated my Satellite Pro A120 with more memory and a larger hard drive. The memory I installed is 2 x 1 GB Module (DDR2-667) and the product number of the hard drive is MK2035GSS.

My computer recognizes both of these upgradges, but since their installation I was able to install all applications (for example Norton Security etc) on my laptop - they seem to spend 1/2 to 3/4 of the way in which the installation process and then just quit smoking and become insensitive or an error message appears. I even tried to put the product recovery disc to try and erase everything and start over but even that does not load in entirely. Any ideas of what could be the cause? Also, I get messages of constant error on the screen and it blue screens and restarts frequently.

If anyone has any ideas on what could be the cause, I would be extremely grateful for any help!

    Thank you very much

    Hello

just a question, than to the manufacturer that are the memory modules? And similar modules? Or do you have that you have installed other modules later.
We can exclude the HARD drive because it doesn´t HARD drive installed. they do not cause bluescreens or similar. In very rare cases, the disk HARD COULD cause errors, but then the pladder or BSOD´s must be REALLY damaged and in your case, the HARD drive is brand new.

It might be, that memory modules are not compatible with your machine. To avoid these incompatibility issues, you must use the modules of well-known such as kingston and toshiba brands. (I'd rather kingston, they work like a charm in my A100 Sat :))

Would appreciate comments on your part.

    See you soon

  • How can I get the upgrade on my Satellite 2450-201 wireless?

I'm a total newbie in the wireless world. Currently have a main PC connection broadband. I have my Toshiba laptop to my United work and need a constant internet access, which is difficult with 5 belonging to the family using the broadband on the PC

How do I do to upgrade my laptop for wireless use? Any recommendations on what router also use?

    Hello

Wi - Fi is an option on this laptop.
This means that the WiFi network could be available at the time of purchase, through the upgrade or a Toshiba authorized service provider program.
To my knowledge, the minPCI wireless network card might gladly inside the laptop.

But the easiest way would be to use the WLAN USB key to prepare the laptop WLan.
You ask the best router? Many ISPS provides own router devices. I advise to use a WLan router that supports the standard 802.11 B and G standards.
If you use such as router, you must also purchase a USB WLan stick that supports the same WLan standards.

  • Upgrade the HDD and RAM

    Hello

I have a HP dv7-3085dx (product no: VM188UA #ABA) and I need to upgrade my hard drive to an SSD & increase my RAM. currenlty I have 500 GB hdd & 6144 MB ram DDR3.

    1. Please let me know if Serial ATA III SSD (Samsung - 840 EVO 250 GB Internal Serial ATA III Solid State Drive) is compatible with my motherboard. And is it possible to use this (primary) SSD as well as my old HDD (secondary).

    2. do I need to buy additional cables for this upgrade?

    3. What is the rate of transfer of my RAM? If I could buy a compatible RAM.

Your specific motherboard has the chipset Intel 5 series which is only capable of SATA-II. However, the Evo of 840 Samsung SATA-III will work fine and you will always see at an astonishing speed. You have chosen a good SSD (the same that I use, so I'm a little prejudiced).

With regard to memory, this is the crucial.com on your model page showing it will take up to 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) SO-DIMM DDR3-1333.

    http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Pavilion%20dv7-3085dx

And Yes, you can use 2 hard drives in any dv7. It will take a second drive caddy and cable available here:

  • Upgrade the HDD on R61i... What options

I am facing the age-old situation... short of HARD drive space.

I am considering upgrading my drive HARD internal R61i. It came with a Seagate 160 GB. I have my eye on a Seagate 320 GB. The 160 GB will be installed in an external enclosure, reformat and used as storage device.

In most software installed at the factory, I have many installed in my 160 GB, currently only 2 software that I have the original installation cd. In addition, I do have a lot of data files yet. So, I would not need image or ghost my the 160 GB to 320 GB new data. Therefore, I don't mind just to make the Revovery Media to run cd that takes a few hours and then install my other software.

Of after what I have read in various forum posts (again to perfect oneself by using the search function), I came to a conclusion of the 2 options.

    1. after having come out the 160 GB and by installing the 320, I should be able to run the recovery DVD media (created from the 160 GB) State factory on the 320 GB.

I could be wrong on this point, the DVD would create a hidden partition on the new 320 for ThinkVantage software and the balance of the right of disposal, from 300 to 310GB abt?

This means that I'm going to make 2 partitions (1 hidden and large available partition 1)

    2. this option, I'm not sure how to go about. Is it possible to create 3 partitions on the 320 GB? A hidden ThinkVantage, a 120 GB for programs and the other for/data storage.

You've got the basics right and then create your existing 160 GB drive recovery discs discs and use them to install the OS on the new...

I'd go with 7200 RPM, if you're looking for 320, or if you really need space, with 500 GB / 5400 RPM.

My personal preference would be Seagate, since I've never had failed their drive on me, but to each his own...

    I hope this helps.

  • Clone HARD disk backup and upgrade the HDD on a Vaio S13

I just bought a laptop SVS13133CGB. I want to change the hard drive for an SSD, because of the problems of latency of disk it gives me with the drive 5400 RPM. Also, I have to change to Windows 7, because of the problems of compaitbality with the applications I run.

    My questions are-

-Are there problems with an SSD on this model? I intend to use a Samsung 840 250 GB SSD and do a clean install of windows 7 on it.

-I want to save the data of the existing drive, imaging or cloning, so that I can have the installtion Windows 8 + the recovery partion. (also the key/cert/activation)  Does anyone know if I restore it, everything will work according to the normal? I.e. the assist, the stamina/speed etc button button... I m not sure what cloning software I will use, like I always do research which at the moment.

    Has anyone done the above?

    ravinius,

    1. I don't think there's any question replacing a HDD with a SSD... we can only comment on what has been installed from factory but as I said, I don't see a problem to an SSD.

    2. it is preferable that you create system recovery disc and run that, if you want to revert to Windows 8.  Regarding what makes an exact image, I don't know on this one there... There are several software cloning there, but we cannot comment/recommend on a specific... If you are running the recovery disc it will restore everything back as if it was fresh from the factory (software wise)...

  • Upgrade memory of satellite S2450-S203

Really appreciate it if you could help. I have a laptop perfect condition except it has only 512 MB of RAM. I tried to take part to upgrade, but I was not able to find where memory and I can't remove a plus. I took every screw out, I can find, but the back does not seem to come off. I updated PCs before but never laptops.

I really don't want to have to pay a PC World a lot of "technician" of money to do something that takes 5 minutes.

    Hello

According to the specifications of the laptop Satellite 2450 s203 has no internal memory. This model of phone is expandable up to 1 GB. Memory locations are placed under the keyboard. As a first step, you must remove the brace of keyboard. The keyboard is fixed by 3 screws (places under this plastic brace). Remove the keyboard.

On the left side it is insulation placed covering the memory locations. Press the two detergents. One end of the barrette memory will pop up.
    I hope this brief description.

    Good bye

  • Can I put the HDD on Portege R400?

    Hello

I would like to ask, if it is possible to upgrade the drive HARD internal on Portege R4OO. I would like to change my internal 80 GB 4200 RPM HARD drive to any thing with 5400 or 7200 RPM, is this possible? I think, that I have Toshiba MK8007GAH there and is 1.8 "HARD drive, somewhere I can buy 1.8" HDD at 5400 RPM or higher?

    Thank you

    Hello

You can upgrade the HDD on the Portege, but the HARD drive must be compatible!
You have a 80 GB (4200 RPM) Slim PATA (1.8-inch) MK8007GAH) HARD drive.

In my opinion, you can also use a 100 GB and 120 GB HDD with higher rotation. This should t be a problem.

Check this box and come back and display the result.

    Best regards
