Upgrade to 8.1 Windows keeps failing - error 0xC1900101

I can't upgrade to windows 8.1, that it gives me this error after sign in again:

"Could not update for Windows 8.1.

Sorry, we could not complete the update Windows 8.1. We have restored the previous version of Windows on this computer.

0xC1900101 - 0 x 40017.

The funny thing is that a few weeks ago, I've already updated to windows 8.1 but because of a bad driver and not being able to boot into safe mode, I had to renew my windows and upgrade to windows 8.0. But now I can't update to windows 8.1 more. I installed all the updates of windows, even those in option. So I did a factory reset and uninstalled everything which has not appeared necessary for windows, so the update go smoother. I found a page from toshiba with a tutorial for upgrading to 8.1 and it told me to uninstall the following:

Genesys Logic
Intel PROSet
Intel Wireless Display
Realtek audio driver
TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor
Realtek WLAN driver
Realtek Bluetooth Filter driver

and on another page he told me to uninstall anything related with toshiba so I did it all and these are programs I currently have:

http://oi58.Tinypic.com/2ak028l.PNG

I also tried with a clean boot but still no change. My atm graphics driver is version 8.9, while the newer version is 13.12 but toshiba not unlock updated 12.1 for windows 8.1 and I tried to install that, but he just in an endless loop of startup.

My laptop:

Toshiba Satellite C855-255
PSCBYE-05000NDU

You guys could help me please? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

  • Windows Update failed - error 0 x 80070643 for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332)

Original title: Windows Update Failed - need help

Vista 32 Ultimate with all updates, until this one: update Windows failed: error 0 x 80070643 for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332). Update has failed repeatedly.  I tried to restart, remove the update (even by deleting the file so it would download it again) and install again.  Nothing has worked.  Error 80070643.  Since it is not Office 2003, the error seems to mean a problem with the Windows .NET framework.  Don't know what that means.

Looking at KB976982, I tried to fix MSI software update registration corruption issues (whatever that means) by running the automated Fix It by KB971187. Restarted, I tried Windows Update again.  Still didn't update.

Then, I waited two days and tried again.  Even that did not help.

I tried bypassing Windows Update simply by downloading and then run the file SQLEXPR32.exe from Microsoft downloads. Did not work at all. I then tried to run it as an administrator (even if it was already an administrator account, with no other account on this computer at all).  He started to run and then gave me the following error message: unable to run the SQL Server System Configuration Checker due configulation WMI on the computer.  Error: 70347 (0x112cb).

Now I'm really confused.  On the one hand, 80070643 means I probably repair the .NET framework, which certainly, I hate to do because I need several versions of the .NET framework first uninstall and then try to install the compmonents, and I'm afraid something would go wrong.

On the other hand, the 70347 (0x112cb) error message seems to indicate the problem is completely different and has to do with WMI, which probably has to do with permissions and I have no idea how to solve this problem.  (And why it all of a sudden would be any problem with permissions?)  This computer is not on a corporate network and has only one user account, the administrative account).  I have looked at Services and Applications in computer management, where there are WMI control, but nothing shown that I can possibly change and not the SQL Server Configuration Manager under it, which doesn't seem to have much either.

    Help!  Please...

And now I also tried to fix it, just in case where, the .NET framework (Panel > programs and features > Microsift.NET framework Client profile 4 > uninstall/change > fix it), and the Windows Update tried again (including reboot).  Still no.  Everything I try, it is not to do nothing, pardon my language.  People smarter than me, pleasehelp!

    Hi Gary,.

To provide the proper resolution, I would like to know what antivirus software do you use?

This problem could occur due to these reasons.

    1. missing updates.

    2 conflict between third-party applications.

    3. conflicts between third-party antivirus software.

Try the steps listed here and see if it helps.

    Method 1:

I suggest you to update all the latest device drivers in Device Manager. Also, make sure that all Windows updates are installed.

To update driver follow these steps.

    a. right click on the Start button and click on Device Manager.

    b. display all devices on one.

    c. right-click on the device driver and click on Update.

    Method 2:

If the problem persists, I suggest to put the computer in a clean boot state, then try to upgrade to Windows 8.1. Setting the system in a clean boot state will help you determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to perform a clean boot for a problem in Windows

Note: After the clean boot troubleshooting steps, follow the "How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting" section in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

    Method 3:

If the problem persists, I you suggest to uninstall the Antivirus software and then try to upgrade to Windows 8.1. Check if it helps.

    Note:

    (1) Please be sure to re - install Antivirus software after upgrade to Windows 8.1.

    (2) antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable or uninstall your antivirus software. If you need to temporarily disable or uninstall it to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled or uninstalled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  • Windows 7 Build 7600, Windows Update failed: Error Code 80096004

Whenever I try to update my Windows 7 Home Edition Build 7600 through Windows Update, I get most of my updates reported as failures, and you try to update results once again updates failed fault and fault again, as in they are always fail. This computer is only a few weeks and I was never able to update windows properly and I always "error (s) found: Code 80096004.»

I'm under Alienware BIOS A09 if this is any help, and windows is genuine through the OEM. I got non-genuine errors in previous windows that were due to windows update failures, and yesterday I restored my computer to factory default which has removed all errors except windows update errors. So, to get these updates correctly will mitigate hope-other problems I have.

I used to receive the codes of error such as 80096003 and another who was something similar (do not remember exactly the code) to 8001b 010. Cutting windows firewall has removed these errors happen in windows update, or so I think.

Anyway, the real culprit right now, I believe is the "error (s) found: Code 80096004.» How can I fix this error in my Windows Update so that I can continue to update? Whenever Windows Update tries to download updates, the process of "Download" will always result in a constant 0% and never pass and will always fail. I have about 30 updates, I need to download/update and catch him. Most are updated critical or very important.

    Thanks in advance.
