Upgrade to Version 6 slows down my XP Virtual Machine

Just upgraded to Fusion version 6.0.3 and starting to regret.  When I start my VM XP processor is given quite a beating, cooling fan comes in.  Once I start trying to use it then everything takes forever.  I tested a number of variants of Windows software prior to release and therefore am and then install by using Add/Remove programs to uninstall.  First of all, it is showing the flashlight looking for about 10-15 seconds as control panel starts and then takes a few minutes to complete the list of programs before they can start to uninstall my program.  Everything I did the upgrade is to allow the merger to upgrade the Virtual Machine.

Any ideas?

XP cannot use more than 2 cores, and you are starving the host for resources (this is a 4 core chip).  Downgraded to 2 hearts should help a lot.

  • Confused over the upgrades and full versions for Windows 8 on a virtual machine

    Hello

I am wanting to legally install Windows 8 or 8.1 on a virtual computer. When I look at the Microsoft pages only, they seem to offer Windows 8 one update and I can't find a way to the purchase of a previous version either. Is anyone able to point me to an explanation in plain English what I should buy.

    Thanks for your help.

If you need to install Windows 8 in a virtual machine, you must purchase the full version of license OEM System Builder. If you need to install Windows 8.1 in a virtual machine, you can buy the license of retail sales (which is a full version) or OEM System Builder License.

  • Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002) include SP1 is the Virtual Machine for Java (MSJVM) installed on this and future Service Packs Microsoft remove it?

While the installation of Microsoft DirectX 9.0 c on my Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002) operating system (not sure if the 2002 version in it's original state included SP1), EULA (EULA) provided the contract included a paragraph stating that "ONLY in regards to THE VIRTUAL MACHINE MICROSOFT FOR JAVA, YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED to INSTALL THIS OS COMPONENT ON A MACHINE THAT CONTAINS A ALREADY the VERSION OF THE MICROSOFT JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE". Assuming that the MSJVM was included with Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002), I advanced and accepted the EULA. I then downloaded and installed Windows XP SP2 and SP3, but wasn't sure whether SP2 and SP3 removed the MSJVM in any point. However, research on the question, I discovered the site "FAQ of Transition MSJVM" (updated May 7, 2004), who answered the question: ' if I install Windows XP SP1a or later, it will remove my current MSJVM? " with "No, the operating system upgrade will not remove a MSJVM existing on the computer" (http://www.microsoft.com/about/legal/en/us/interoperability/java/faq.aspx). However, I can't find any instance of it on my computer.

    So my questions are:

    1. Windows XP Home (Version 2002) Edition include SP1?
    2. The MSJVM is installed on this version?
    3. SP2 or SP3 removes the MSJVM in any point to?

  • ESXI free Version host failure - how to recover virtual machines?

    Hi all

I ran a VMWare lab at home with a free version of ESXI 4.1.

My server does not and I have to reset all the settings management of ESXI and I lost my virtual machines.

I solved the problem, but I lost the virtual machine.

When I navigate through the data store I can see the virtual hard disk for my servers.

Is there a way to recover these virtual machines?

I guess that I'm not the first to ask this question, so if you could point me to any page with some instruction, it would be great.

    Thanks in advance,

    Fabio

Welcome to the VMware forums communities.  In each folder of the virtual machine, you should see a VMX file for the virtual machine.  This is the configuration file.  Right-click on it and select Add to the inventory.  Then follow the instructions of the wizard and after the virtual machine market.  If your network configuration is the same as previously, then you should be good to go.

  • How to use previous Versions to be like an instant Virtual Machine?

I want to use previous Versions to be like snapshots of a virtual machine.

I have a class of machines Windows 7 I want to freeze their condition so that they will restore a snapshot whenever I created whenever they have restarted.

Right now I use Comodo Time Machine to make this work but I prefer to use "Previous Versions" or the system restore to make a machine to return to a State that I created any changes have been made.

  • After an upgrade to ESXi 5.0, 5.1, my virtual machines are not listed in vSphere.

The directory structure still seems to be on the disk.  Is there an easy way to get vSphere to recognize?

    Welcome to the community,

I guess you Install accidentally selected rather than upgrade! Anyway, you can just browse the data store and do a right-click on the .vmx file each VM to add the virtual machine to inventory.

  • Licensing show/evaluation version/impossible to power on a Virtual Machine

    Hello

I use a trial version of VMware.

I added a VM under a host, but I'm not able to power on the same; as he tried to turn on the virtual machine, I get a message "There are not enough licenses installed to perform this operation" (screenshot attached). When I tried to change the license for the ESX Server, I find that one option 'without licence' (screenshot attached).

    Can someone help me?

    Thank you

    Hi florentinevalentine,

After looking at your screenshots, they seem to have a date of 24/01/2009. Are only these old screen impressions? Your date and time settings are correct? Don't forget to change the time won't keep your race 'event.

In addition, it seems that you have a version of ESX that has more than 2 years. If your giving it a test drive, I would consider challenging vSphere 4 that is currently available for download from the trial.

    Good luck!

  • Why upgrade my video card slow down my CPU performance?

I have a HPE - 570T. Recently I have upgreaded video card a Radeon HD5450 for a GTX460 nVidia and also bought a 650 watt power supply. I did the benchmarks with the passmark software before and after. Why was my benchmark CPU 8100 before the upgrade and 7400 after the upgrade? Video card has been much faster from about 320 to 2300 for 3D applications well.

    Hi Spencer,.

I didn't notice that a CPU issue when I installed my GTX 460 1 GB. I'm also using the Passmark Performance (64-bit) version 1019 software.  I have two marks with the same GTX 460 1 GB differnet. A reference point was about 7% more fast (Passmark rating) than the other criterion of reference.  I did RMA the first card to the manufacturer, which explains the two different references. 3D performance was the also the big change for me.  I have improved since the video drivers then perhaps it's time for an another landmark.

You can send an email to the pass mark and ask what happened.

  • Slow access to the virtual machine network (Windows 2008 Server 64-bit) Windows 7.

    Hello.

I have a problem when you access files shared on a Windows 2008 Server 64 bits on a client computer to Windows 7. It takes a long time (up to a few minutes) to for example open a Word file from the network share. It is not always, but quite often.

This also happens on two different servers client with almost the same equipment. Which is a basic IBM x 3400 with hard drives in RAID. I disabled the feature of unloading TCP/IP on the network inside the VM card.

Someone has an answer for this? Have I missed something, a configuration perhaps? I'm totally lost here...

    Kind regards

  • Networking falls down on a virtual machine on Esxi 3.5

    Hello!

I'm having a lot of problems with my virtual machine to Win 2003 server, for some reason, that it keeps saying that the network has limited or no connectivity and does not obtain an IP address.

I have installed vmware tools and practically plugging the network cable has no effect.

The host has to a static IP address, put in place and that works very well, the network card in windows set on DHCP.

Any ideas what could cause this strange behavior?

    -City

So there's no DHCP server on the network 10.52.8.1/27? The physical NETWORK (vmnic0) card attached to vswitch must fill for you. So there is a DHCP server on the network 10.52.8.1/27 virtual machine should obtain an IP address.

If this isn't the case, set a static IP address in this range for the virtual machine.

To answer another question the vswitch cannot act as a DHCP server.

  • ESXi 4.1 upgrade to ESXi 5.5 while all virtual machines and data warehouses

We have two servers ESXi 4.1.0 348481 (Essentials) and we need to upgrade to ESXi 5.5 for support of Windows Server R2 2012. We intend to use the interactive upgrade. We want to ensure that the virtual machine is preserved. More precisely VMFarm001 where ESXi is installed in the same data store as VMServer1. VMServer1 is our largest server and cannot be migrated to another data store easily because we are not allowed for vMotion.

    The following layout

    VMFarm001

    Dell PowerEdge R710

    Data store:

    Storage1 - 1.36 TB

    VMServer1 - MS Server 2003

    Install ESXi

    Storage2 - 1.82 TB

    VMServer2 - MS Server 2008 R2

    VMServer3 - MS Server 2008 R2

    VMFarm002

    HP ProLiant ML350 G5

    Data store:

    Storage1 - 95GB

    Install ESXi

    ISOs

    Storage2 - 1.82 TB

    VMServer4 - MS Server 2008 R2

    VMServer5 - MS Server 2008 R2

I have a feeling I'm worried for nothing given that option during the ESXi upgrade and keep the VMFS datastore.

    Thank you

    Yes, that's correct.

I recently finished the upgrade of lots of stand-alone hosts ESXi 4.1 (with local storage only) to 5.1 and all were successful. The same process applies to 5.5, so you shouldn't have a problem with preservation of VMFS data warehouses (and all virtual machines).

  • Free version of ESXi can support for configuration of start and stop virtual machines via vSphere Client?

I have read and found some documents on ESXi.

According to the documents, I know that ESXi free version does not support some advanced virtual machine configurations and does not support write to ESXi host permission. But when I download ESXi from vmware.com, I can't find the free version. He will always be a trial of the licensed version edition because I can always do the configuration of start and stop virtual machines via vSphere Client installation. I can also run scripts (lamw) pl in vMA to stop the ESXi host (authorization to write ok?)

Then I confused. How can I get the really free version of ESXi? Or will the free version after 60 days of evaluation?

Start/stop above configuration is in vSphere Client via 'Configuration'-> "start/stop VM"-> "Properties"... «-> "Allow the virtual computers start and stop automatically with the system" actions setting and stop virtual machines can be configured to "comments"turn off computer"or"Suspend".» Can any body tell me if it's supported by ESXi free edition?

Is the free version of vSphere Client too? Because when I use the vSphere Client, he told me that I have 60 days of evaluation. This confused me again. I think that vSphere Client is always free, am I right?

Any suggestion or advice is much appreciated.  _

    Micky

Configuration of start and stop virtual machines is available with the free version and licensed, with the free version you would be configured everything via vSphere Client, where as with a licensed version, you can optionally use scripts to configure it and also issue restarts/stops using scripts.

Second, shutdownHostViaSOAPAPICall.pl for the version licensed and free of ESX (i), this script will work in both free and licensed because it uses direct SOAP calls emulating the vSphere Client communication. Take a look at the documentation for details, but this of course is not supported by VMware.
