Upgrading processor (Dell Inspiron 5040)

Hi all...

I recently bought a laptop Dell Inspiron N5040 with Intel i3 M380 (2.53 GHz) CPU and 4 GB of Ram. Here are my questions to you all:

1 > is it possible to change the i3 i5 processor? If so, then anyone on this forum did a swap like this before?

2 > if I can't change the i3 to an i5, is it possible to change the i3 (2.53 GHZ) to an i3 (3.30 GHz). If yes then could you guys give me some information on this?

It may be a few stupid questions, but I don't know much about the computer's hardware.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Fix the two counts.

  • Upgrade CPU Dell Inspiron 530?

I bought a Dell Inspiron 530 in October 2008 (Service tag <> NOTE from the ADMIN: Service tag removed by privacy policy >) and I would like to upgrade the processor. My current processor is an Intel Celeron 450 2.20 GHz. I think that my motherboard is a Foxconn G33M02. (But I am not sure, and I would like to confirm that, so that I don't get an incompatible cpu.)

What would be a good upgrade from the processor that I can put in my current motherboard? I feel that my current Celeron 450 is a uniprocessor processor, and I would trade out for an important and remarkable improvement with more hearts (at reasonable cost) while keeping the same motherboard.

I've already updated the PSU for a 460 Watt PSU and have also upgraded the video card. Looking for a good upgrade from the processor. I think I also need to update my bios of motherboard.

530 systems were built with two different models of motherboards.

FoxConn G33m02 [Dell P/N ORY007] motherboard, this version does not support processors Core 2 Quad, only the Core 2 Duo, Pentium Dual-Core and Celeron processors.

One of the following processors should operate in the 530 Inspiron:

Intel Pentium Dual Core 2140 (1.6 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
    Intel Pentium Dual-Core 2160 (1.8 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
    Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 (2.5 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 (1.8 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 (2.0 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 (1.86 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 (2.13 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 (2.33 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 (2.66 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 (2.80 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
    Wolfdale Core 2 Duo E8400, 3.0 GHz, 6 MB, 1333 MHz FSB, 65W, E0
    Wolfdale Core 2 Duo E8500, 3.16 GHz, 6 MB, 1333 MHz FSB, 65W, C0

Before installing the processor, that you should check that you have BIOS Version 1.0.15 or above, when support for the new Intel processor has been added.

  • Upgrade a Dell Inspiron 531 to something with more memory and faster?

Hello, I have a Dell Inspiron 531, 32-bit operating system, and the 3G memory in it but is Vista. I tried to upgrade to Windows 7, but after many attempts, could not go without having to clear everything and start over. So I'd do it if I have to do I was wondering if I could make the machine that is more memory better and faster, without having to buy a new computer say a Dell XPS 8300 (that I'll have to run a lot of photographic software in the future and I understand that this could be a good computer for that?) In any case, it is possible to 'upgrade' the computer something like this please, or I have to save my pennies for a new? Thank in advance for your advice.)

    Hello

If you upgraded to 4GBs off RAM you won't get many benefits

Here is an article on what is happening with 4GBs of RAM:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929605

"If a computer has many features implemented, the available memory can be reduced to 3 GB or less." However, the maximum memory available in 32-bit versions of Windows Vista is typically 3.12 GB. »

and you should also consult the Dell manual for your model desktop computer see what amount of RAM your motherboard would answer anyway

    http://support.Dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/manuals?c=us&l=en&s=Gen& ~ CK = anavml

and here is the reason why you can not upgrade to Windows 7

There are no Windows 7 drivers written for her by Dell

  • can I upgrade my Dell Inspiron 14R N4010 HDD SDS?

    Hello

I do intend to upgrade Dell inspiron n4010 SATA hdd to SSD, is it possible?

If so it would be simply plug-out and plugin or you would have a few extensions?

    Thanks in advance.

You can simply replace in a 2.5 SSD "and reload Windows or clone your existing operating system (the former requires that make you a set of recovery media it will require other hardware and software).

Replacing the hard drive on this model requires a bit of disassembly - including the abolition of the system board.  Make sure that you are comfortable with the level of work:

  • Can I upgrade my Dell Inspiron 3000 SFF desktop computer to install my TV Tuner, Pinnacle card?

I have a previous Pinnacle PCTV digital TV (model #8230 Pinnacle TVC Pro4 SD) tuner card I bought Oct 2008 Best Buy for $88 for my desktop so that Windows XP-which has since died. I want to install in my desktop Dell Inspiron 3000 Form Factor bought February 2015, which has Windows 7 with Windows Media Center, so I can watch TV on my computer screen all working. It did not come with a TV tuner. Is it possible to install a TV tuner in this computer?  I searched the site Web of Dell to nothing does not.

Not that the tuner is obsolete and the small footprint is really tiny and lacks housing for it. A 7-year-old tuner may not work on windows 7 in any case. It does work on Windows 8 in all. All the tv is now digital.

TV tuners are becoming less popular, given that some cable companies have introduced all the channels that you subscribe online. My Time Warner service has all my subscribed channels available online, including local stations and HBO and Showtime. Check with your cable provider to see what is available for you online - a much better picture and easy to use.

  • Dell Inspiron 530 upgrade

I think I'll eventually replace the CPU, motherboard and RAM. However, I expect comments on this better replacements to keep the same power in the short term. I want to just update for children, so high-end is not necessary, but if the price is right, it would be better. I think my biggest concern is the USB/sound/etc ports front. Currently, I think that it is running a 305 w power, and a PCI-e x 16 video card.

Are the connectors for these propritary Dell or will they work with a new motherboard?

Does anyone know the Council size max will take the case and the motherboard (ATX/mini-ATX/BTX/etc) what is? I thought it was an ATX, but I thought I would check when obtaining the size max able to adapt...

    greywolf79

The Inspiron 530 MT supports a card mother Micro-ATX.

You may be involved with the rear i/o Panel, Dell has integrated this into the back panel of the chassis, retail motherboards have separate I/O panels that fit into an ATX chassis, you must change the case, through an opening in the Dell chassis for it.  You can find it easier to buy a standard ATX case.

Dell OEM windows not with a copy card mother not Dell, because it is related to their BIOS, prepare to buy a new copy of windows, or Microsoft license.

Dell front cables and connectors have exclusive features.

I had an Inspiron 530MT since 2007 and to improve its performance, updated the processor to an e8400, contributed to the maximum our RAM, installed an AMD 7750 graphics card and a primary SSD [that makes a big difference] and recently upgraded to Win 7, to win 10.

  • Need driver Windows 7 64 bit for axes accelerometer ST microelectronics 3 on Dell Inspiron Mini Duo 1090

Someone at - it a way to correct the ST Microelectronics 3-axis accelerometer (motion detector) which will not work because I upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit Windows 7? Given that the Intel Atom N550 is only dual core too slow, I am trying to extend the useful life of the convertible tablet with 4 GB of RAM and 64 bit version will use. In addition, I started by trying to upgrade to Windows 8 because there is an app I want to who does not work on Windows 7. Not only do you get the accelerometer fail to start, but the updates of Windows 8 removed my OS, so I had to restore Windows 7 32 bit from a backup. Then I tried to install Windows technical preview 10 because the app even says it will work with that, but the installation kept hanging up to 30%, so I gave up and tried Windows 7 64 bit. Still, no functional accelerometer, but at least updates all worked (so far, including sp1). Given that I intend to upgrade to 64-bit Windows 10 as soon as they release it (July according to technical support), I hope this driver setting.

In the Dell support forums, message by Carnino April 7, 2011 offers workaround using Microsoft .net SDK. Since it does not say which version has the CorFlags app, I have installed .net frameworks on 4 and Visual Studio 2010 upwards. At the Windows command prompt, I get errors saying that CorFlags was not a recognized command. I asked for help on the Dell forum even and installed the CorFlags there app. I saw flash by in the command line window, so he must have installed, but it is not yet a recognized order when I try to run it at the command prompt.

Then I tried Windows SDK 7.1 commands prompt, which also tells me "CorFlags.exe is not recognized as a command internal or external, an executable program or batch file." Now what? Is not a developer, I don't know if I have installed all the necessary tools for .net framework programs work, and I have no idea how to use the Visual Studio or if a version is mess up another version. Now, I have installed the Windows Driver Kit for Windows 8.1 because it says it does too many drivers for Windows 7, but it's an another shot in the dark.

I can use the orientation of the laptop computer screen if necessary when I flip the screen for Tablet of orientation, but it is annoying, especially for reading and editing of books while I walk, the main use for which I bought this Duo.

No, I can't afford to buy a Tablet convertible new again, especially rare with a decent size hard disk. I don't trust books of my clients to cloud storage. Please help if you can. Thank you.

Try this driver for Windows 7 64-bit:

    http://downloads.Dell.com/FOLDER01182758M/1/System-Utilities_Driver_V3J22_WN_2.2.2.2_A00.exe

I have yet to find a driver for Windows 10 TP.

P.S. If you want to extend the life of the SSD would be a good idea, something like 250-500 GB SSD BX100:

  • Dell inspiron 1525 2008 model replacement hard drive

    Hello

My dell inspiron 1525 hard drive was faulty and I am looking for a replacement drive. While looking for the hard drive, I have found there are 2 types of hard disk of 2.5 inch SATA

    1, height 9mm

    2 height 7.5 mm

Can anyone confirm that it adapts to my laptop?

    Thank you

    Vaibhav

Older models have the readers of 9 mm. Get a Crucial BX200 240 GB SSD will be 7.5 mm but they will understand a spacer so that the SSD fits. The SSD will make your system much more vivid:

If you only have a license of Vista/XP for this machine I advise to take the unofficial 10130 upgrade path:

If you have a Windows 7 or 8 button then you can use the key to clean install Windows 10 TH2 directly:

  • Dell Inspiron M5010 Upgrade processor

    Hello world!

I would ask you... .who a CPU I can put on my laptop. Dell Inspiron M5010
    There now:
    Athlon II P340 bicoeur

    AMD 785GX chipset

    AMD SB850 southbridge.

I want to now Phenom II 3 or 4 cores... made exactly?

Dell did ship with Phenom II - X 4 CPU, so most of the Socket S1 - G4 processors should work.  Stick to the same models with power or similar - install a CPU that requires more power than the original, it is an invitation to instability of the system.
