Satellite M30 laptop is very nice. I worked for about 6 months on this laptop. For me the laptop is powerful enough and upgrade the CPU is really not necessary. What you need to do is upgrade of RAM at the level maximum and of course good configuration of the OS.

Does anyone know if a processor upgrade is possible?
I think the core of centrolo solo could be upgraded to centrino duo (first generation of dual core laptop, before core 2 duo)

    Any help?

    Hello

A processor upgrade is not possible, due chipset limitations. I ve tried in my M50 and nothing happened. Machine or boot or anything.

And the other side is, you will lose your warranty if you´re exchange of database components, because you´re open your machine and with this action, actually void you your warranty.

  • Upgrading processor on Satellite L20-181

Can I insert in my laptop Toshiba Satellite L20-181 (Intel Celeron M 380 processor) Intel Pentium 4 processor 521 (for laptop)?

    Sorry, my English is weak.

    Hello

No, to my knowledge it of certainly not possible to upgrade the satellite L20 with a processor Intel P4 CPU.
As far as I know that the motherboard supports a mobile Intel socket 479 and it should be possible to use only the processors Celeron-M as follows:
    Intel Celeron M 350 (1.30 GHz) - 360 (1.40 GHz) - 370 (1.50 GHz) - 380 (1.60 GHz) with 400 Mhz FSB

In my opinion the stronger processors will cause overheating.

    Hi Harry

    Hello

You must ensure that new CPU would be managed by the chipset built in Notepad.
I think that your laptop supports the Chipset Mobile Intel GM45 Express.

I checked the Intel page for compatible processors and it seems that these processors are supported by the chipset:
Intel® Core 2 Extreme Processor X 9100 (3.06 GHz, front side bus at 1066 MHz, 6 MB Cache)
Intel® Core 2 Duo processor T9400 (2.53 GHz, front side bus at 1066 MHz, 6 MB Cache)

But there is aquestion about the BIOS still support I m not very well if the BIOS would be compatible with all of these upgrade CPU CPU is always a tricky thing.

  • Upgrading processor on Satellite L300-1BV

I've already updated the laptop of a T1600 (Celeron), to a T3200 (Pentium Dual Core). But no one knows how far I can go to level P 478 processors?

If so, could provide you the processor numbers?

+ The message was edited: model number changed on the subject.

Satellite L300D-1BV is know for me. This model number is correct?

However, in general, you should check the compatibility of the chipset.
Where the chipset is compatible and would support the CPU, you have good chances to make it work.

But I'm not sure if BIOS would be able to manage the new processor properly.

  • Upgrading processor on Satellite Pro M40 PSM46E

I currently have a Celeron M 1.4 GHz CPU in my laptop, the model 360, socket 479. Is it possible to upgrade the Core Solo or Core Duo (not Core 2 Duo)? If this is not the case, what are my upgrade options? I'd be happy with the Pentium M processors.

CPU - Z says my motherboard is an ATI with a Chipset RS400/RC400 SB400. I tried Googling this for the support of the processor, but it always birngs upward versions of office, not mobile.

Usually it s not easy and not recommended to upgrade the CPU on laptops, because you won't have no guarantee that after such upgraded the laptop will run stable.
The fastest CPU produce more heat, and this could lead to overheating.

But to my knowledge, the units have been delivered with these processors:
    Intel processor Dothan (533 MHz) 730 (1.6 G), 740 (1.73 G), 750 (1.86 G), 760 (2.0 G) and 770 (2.13GHz)

  • Upgrading processor on Satellite Pro SP 2100

    Hi all.

I have a portable Satellite Pro SP 2100 with a Celeron 1.5 GHz (SL6FN) processor.
Becomes a bit long in the tooth if I decided to buy a processor 2.0 GHz Pentium - SL6FK with 512 KB of L2 Cache. I did research on the index of processors intel and the CPU-World site to see if this processor would be compatible - it seemed virtually no difference, the same identification number, the same socket, but when I installed it all I get is a continuous beep on market and no Toshiba Logo.

I had to go down to a 1.8 GHz Celeron, which is a little faster but almost identical to a full blown Pentium.

There IS a version of processor Mobile Pentium 2 GHz of the SP2100 - I guess the harware would be the same, but I'm obviously wrong.
I tried to Flash the BIOS with the latest version, but without result. Is this a BIOS problem?
Perhaps the BIOS of my laptop with the SL6FN processor is not compatible with the new processor? And think - me a manager of network for 7 years!

    I hope someone can help,

    Alan.

Is it easy to upgrade my celeron from Intel to something like a Core i7 processor, because I want to improve the performance of game or should I just by a desktop computer and level it?

Hardware upgrade on laptops is very limited and the CPU upgrade is not supported.

CPU upgrade in my opinion is not the solution for you.

  • Upgrading processor on Satellite M70-144

I have currently a M70-144 this is my first computer, so I'm new to this sort of thing.

can you get it someone please let me know if it is possible to upgrade the processor.

    Hello

Upgrade CPU on laptops is a very sensitive issue.
Technology is not the same thing as on desktop computers and the increase of heat could be a bigger problem after the upgrade.
In addition, as much as I know Toshiba does not support updates and you are not sure that the BONE will be stable rum after the upgrade.

Anyway, I studied a little and it seems that you could use the following processors:
Intel Celeron M CPU up to 1.7 GHZ, 400 MHz FSB
Intel Pentium M CPU up to 2.26 GHZ, FSB 533 MHz

  • Upgrading processor on Satellite L30

Can I replace my Intel celeron with a complete Intel pentium processor for my laptop Satellite L30-105? As it is so slow I got it since February 2007, more than half of my HDD disappeared too?

You can use CPU Pentium M, the difference between Celeron M and Pentium M is the size of the cache and Celeron M uses SpeedStep technology, but the FSB and the socket are the same.

    Best regards
    Xavier

    Hello Xavier

As you probably know the CPU upgrade is not supported. I understand that you want to have a more powerful machine, but have you tried to lower the hardware upgrade for better performance? I mean RAM.

Satellite A200 is known to me and I always use old P200. With the maximum RAM and Win7 32 bit my P200 works perfectly. For daily activities and oldest machine games is perfect if I think that upgrading the CPU is certainly not necessary.

Is there a particular reason why you need a faster CPU?

Update CPU or Exchange is not supported so, in my opinion, you should not think about it.
More info on what you can read on - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

Since my upgrade of the CPU experience (I ve tested on older models) will not offer a spurt of fast execution. If you want more performance without risk to upgrade your 4 GB maximum RAM 8 GB support and exchange standard fast SSD HARD drive.
Believe me you will see the difference.

One last thing. I don't know how old is your laptop, but this action will void the warranty.
