USB keyboard does not not in XP Home

Hi can you help please, I'm on a Dell Dimension 8400, the original keyboard (PS/2), has stopped working, I connected an old K/B on the PS/2, everything ok, I then bought a new Comfort Curve 2000 keyboard, but none of the keys will not work, is a usb keyboard, in device manager it is a 28 error message , driver not installed, I have tried to uninstall the driver and connected by restarting the Commission and ran the new hardware wizzard, a search on the web, but windows cannot find the driver, the original usb mouse works well. There is a light numlock on but that's it, I've tried K/B on another XP Pro computer, worked well. Thanks for your help.

  • USB keyboard does not

I have a keyboard USB (Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard 1.1) that no longer works. The mouse works well, however. The keyboard used to work properly, but only can be done. the keyboard works on another computer in Windows Vista and XP machine, so I know the hardware is ok. I am currently connected through a KVM switch, but it does not work when I connect directly to my laptop.

It is not listed as a keyboard when it is connected but the mouse appears as expected. I tried to uninstall/reinstall the HID devices associated with the keyboard and mouse, including reboots, nothing helps. The driver seems to install ok (know, there are no unknown devices in Device Manager)
    Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Now look everywhere EXCEPT the USB controllers for your device (cannot be found) and if you find

Here is the similar procedure under XP, Vista is the same, except that we need to clear the specific device if present.

  • USB keyboard does not work after Windows 7 SP1

I recently installed SP1 on my computer running Windows 7 Pro.  Everything was fine before SP1, but after installation, the keyboard is constantly up - does not not intermittently.  I noticed that SP1 seems to have updated kbdclass.sys so I wonder if that caused.

The USB keyboard is inadmissible for up to 30 seconds when you try to connect to my PC locked.  Also, once connected, the USB port sometimes emits a sound like something to be connected or disconnected.  Meanwhile, the keyboard is again irreceivable.

It's to the point where I think of getting a new computer.  I tried to uninstall the drivers USB, reboot and let the computer to reinstall.  I also ran MalwareBytes and Anti-Rootkit, looking for malware.

Any ideas would be appreciated.  It has no other USB connected to my machine except the keyboard and mouse.

  • Dimension E521, windows resume loader, USB keyboard does not?

I have a Dimension E521. When it starts up (windows 7 32 bit) happens to "resume the windows loader. I can't choose option I have a USB keyboard that does not start. Why is there no PS/2 port on the back of my office?

    Thank you
    Jill

PS/2 ports have gone in the way of the dodo bird.

Have you had a power failure or not stop correctly?

Have you tried another USB port at the back of the Tower?

Try to restart, and then press F2 before Windows starts to load to open the BIOS Setup. Search all the USB settings and make sure that they are all enabled. Save the changes before you exit the installer and see if you can deal with the problem of charger now.

If this does not work, try this:

    1. If you can enter the BIOS setup by pressing F2, copy all the current BIOS settings
    2. Power off, unplug
    3. Power button press / hold for about 15 seconds
    4. Open the case and remove the motherboard battery
    5. Power button press / hold for about 30 seconds
    6. Replace the battery (use a new if it is old)
    7. Case of close and reboot and see if you can solve the problem of charger now

    Original title: reinstalling Windows

I am trying to reinstall my Windows XP home edition and when I reached the part where I have to watch myself and my organization my keyboard does not work and I can't type my name or to the next step.

    Hello

    1. did you have backed up your data before attempting to reinstall Windows?
    2. do you have other devices connected to your computer outside of the mouse and keyboard?

If so, I suggest that you remove any external devices, then try reinstalling Windows.

  • Satellite C660 - keyboard does not work but the Num and caps lock shift are on

I have a Satellite C660 which was working fine this morning. When I came home from work and he turned, the keyboard does not work and therefore can not enter my login information.
The Num and caps lock shift are turned on.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Hello

You are able to disable the CapsLock and NumLock?
You can access the BIOS by pressing F2 by turning on the device?

If this does not work, I would recommend checking an external USB keyboard.
If the USB keyboard would be functions, then this means that the internal keyboard is defective and must be replaced.

  • Vista computer locked, keyboard does not work.

A malicious person entered my Vista computer.  When switching on at the beginning of the POST keyboard doesn't let me in BIOS.  Finishing POST and past in screen of emergency repair with all the parameters of Safe Mode and start normally.  Keyboard doesn't let me choose Safe Mode.  It then goes to a different sign on the screen that is black and a small sign in box without a user name, a place to enter a password.  None of my usual passwords work.  Below the password are buttons to sign in and turn it back on.

What I need is a back boot disk and a working key board so I can runrstrui.exe and come back on the eve of this disaster.

I used Vista restore and rescue discs, keyboard does not press a key; have used AVG and Kaspersky rescue disks; have used the rescue system, repair Boot, UBC, Trinity Rescue Kit, Boot CD Vista PE, etc. for a total of 14 different repair or rescue disks.

    Hello

Why tell you what a bad guy entered into your computer?

And have you tried another keyboard?

Something in your question, is that you say that the keyboard allow you to select the Safe Mode Options, etc., but you can type your password is not working.

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

This can help you (download files and make your own DVDs):

And here are instructions on how to burn ISO disk images:

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    ___________________________________

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery on the drive Partition hard reinstall Windows how much you bought your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Them or us ask the right sequence of key.

    ___________________________________

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Key ESC Office keyboard does not work on desktop running Windows 7 Pro 64 x

Key ESC Office keyboard does not work on desktop running Windows 7 Pro 64 x

Now, it's a boring, which several other users have reported under different threads. Because I couldn't find a post with quite similar symptoms, I made my own topic.

I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 x on an old one (Intel Quad-Core, 4 GB RAM, 524 GB HDD - in case, for reasons unknown to me, someone needs to know it...) , DellXPS system. Not more than a few weeks ago my home button keyboard unresponsive on this system.

I did a lot of troubleshooting, but these measures have been carried out:
    * Tested keyboard on the other system, touch ESC WORKS on the other system
    * Reinstalled keyboard and USB drivers on the XPS system, ESC key does NOT WORK on the XPS system
    * Connected to a never-before-used USB keyboard, ESC key does NOT WORK on the XPS system
    * Opened and cleaned the keyboard, tested, Escape key WORKS, Don't DO NOT WORK on the XPS system
    * Tested in various applications: Desktop (Esc will close the start menu), Photoshop, Vegas, Notepad, games full screen OpenGL,Escape key does NOT WORK on the XPS system
    * Google for possible solutions, none found...

Note: Highlights show where the ESC key does not work. I am troubled by the XPS system.

In case you missed it my list of troubleshooting steps, the ESC key works on another computer of Windows 7 system.

I have to still garble my self through the registry in the hope that someone might have an idea of the steps to follow before I lose a day to see the things that I honestly know squat. Please help if you can; What could be the issue/common application that separates this key in the Windows world and how could I solve this problem?

    Thank you in advance!

    For reference,.
No major changes have been made since the keyboard unresponsive with the exception of:
Updates to FireFox (including modules Ad-Block Plus, NoScript, which have also been updated).
    Windows Update
A 10.x MB World of Warcraft patch/update on a keyboard AFTER week unresponsive

Already installed the patches StarCraft II and World of Warcraft, which none touched my keyboard to my knowledge. I finished almost all of StarCraft II and had no problems...

I know it's a bit old, but I was living the question myself.  Thought I had found the problem and it was fixed but then it happened again.  Came to find out (by closing a program and test the ESC key) it's because Photoshop.

With the help of Photoshop, which could match the case you mention.  Not only that but I did a search ('ESC' does not not Photoshop) and stumbled on some answers/solutions workaround for it.  One is to use SHIFT + ESC ESC does not work.

Hope this helps someone.  I fell it using my original research ("Windows 7" BSE "ESC" keyboard does not) and know that others are likely to see.  If you have not already learn the cause, in the year + since your original message, then voila.
