Username policy

If I change my username, what happens to the previous nickname? If someone else can enter the previous nickname of another Member, or are these names reserved by the previous owner? I expect at least, but I guess it's best to ask in advance to try. Are there documents or information? Thank you!

To my knowledge, you book only your current nickname.  If change you it, then your old is for someone else to use.

I'm not fallen on any forum software that allows users to maintain a reserve of names of users/nicknames used.

Political OOTB username does not change the user name if the family name is updated. We have our custom code that also shows the same behavior.

No, I don't think. This is called the generation. Means only on the creation of the user. You must implement Eventhandler to do this, where you can use your own logic or generation of STANDARD API username policy.

  • VSphere - "Promiscuous" Mode?

I have a virtual machine that is running in Vsphere Hypervisor.   I'm trying to install a VPN (SoftEther) utility that requires the network adapter that will be put into Promiscuous mode. After reviewing the documentation ESXI, he tells me to go to the 'Configuration' tab, but this tab is missing.

Is it possible for me to configure my NIC as such? I called tech support and they told me here.

I was able to download the command line tool (esxcli) and that allowed me to set promiscuous mode. It is not trivial to understand this point, but at least I got around him. For anyone else running into this problem, you can do something like this:

    To list the interfaces /ports

esxcli - Server IPADDRESS - USER - network interface ip PASSWORD password username list

My switch was vSwitch0 after running this.

    To check policy:

esxcli - Server IPADDRESS - username USER - password PASSWORD policy standard vswitch network security get vSwitch0 - v

    To set the policy:

esxcli - Server IPADDRESS - USER - password PASSWORD standard vswitch network username policy security set f m true - false true Pei - v vSwitch0

If you are using XP Home Edition, the built-in Administrator account probably doesn't have a defined password. You can start in safe mode, where this account will be selectable when connecting. It allows to connect and change the password of any other connection.

To start in safe mode, keep hitting F8 twice a second after turning on the PC until you get the start menu where safe mode is selectable by the up/down arrow keys, and then press ENTER.

If you are using XP Professional, try to connect using the built-in Administrator account. You don't need to do it in safe mode (although you can if you wish). If your normal login screen is a display of the user symbol and hit ctrl-alt-del twice to get to login to text entry. Type administrator as the user name and try a blank password.

    Hi joedoerksen,

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Start the computer in safe mode. Built-in Administrator account would be displayed on the Welcome screen. Choose the account administrator and you should be able to boot to the desktop, if you have not set a password for the default Administrator account.

Method 2: If you have set a password for the default Administrator account, then the only option is to go for a parallel installation of Windows XP and retrieve documents.

  • Change the username on the start to something else, as the name of the computer

    I'm on a domain.
I would like to change the username on the start menu for anything other than the username.
User ID would be ok. Name of the computer would be even better.
I see a number of things that could go instead.
    How is that possible?

It would be nice to be able to customize the name of this poster in the startmenu.
Too bad Microsoft don't think that in time there is.

Windows XP puts the name of the person currently logged on to the system at the top of the start menu. The reason for this is to make it easier to say that the user is connected to a Windows XP system that is configured with multiple users. However, if you are the only person using the computer, you don't really need to have your name at the top of the menu start. You can remove it by using the Group Policy console (Microsoft Management Console snap-in used to edit Group Policy objects).

    1. Start the Group Policy console (Gpedit.msc).
    2. Go to User Configuration | Administrative templates | Start menu and taskbar.
    3. Find and double-click the setting remove the username from the Start Menu.
    4. Select the active option button, and then click OK.
    5. Exit the Group Policy console. The change will take place immediately.

Note: This tip only applies to Windows XP Professional.

  • The Customer Service of group policy has denied access problem

After the execution of a routine Windows Update as I always do, I was asked to restart my HP laptop (running than Home Premium 32-bit Vista). The only other thing I had opened was a radio station playing music from the internet. I didn't close anything before restarting as I thought he would close himself. So I just rebooted. Like the reboot process that was going on, I noticed that my laptop came into DOS mode and all kinds of lines of text have been created and saved, but I assumed it was part of the updates. However, when I went to reconnect, I was greeted by the following: group access policy Customer Service refused.

Much I read on the forum and heard that this problem occurs for many. What I read, it seems to have nothing to do with the specific update or that they were installing the software, but everything to do with the user account?

I had only one account configured, so I was forced to restart in safe mode in order to create a new account. But when I created this new account, it does not appear in the c:\Users[user-name]\Music\iTunes\iTunes. All my user account is a folder owner and a Public folder, and no record has my user names listed in their breast. So I couldn't copy the files from my old username to my new.

I tried to restore my computer to a different date, but unfortunately, I had too many things on the laptop to create a backup file on the D drive, I never did. I know, stupid me!

I also tried looking up 'services' in the help section and then scroll to find "group policy client" and that there is nothing listed at close distance from that.

I've seen a lot of these posts dating from 2008, 2010 and 2011, and I tried just about every does not.

Can someone help me please? I use this laptop for my home based business and my Quickbooks is. I depend greatly on this laptop, and I need to work again for me!

  • [ACS 5.4] Retrieve the MAC address (to be used in the policy)

    Hello

I want to authenticate clients WLC and compare their MAC address with LDAP attributes.

We have stored MAC address for each user on our LDAP server.

I have to get MAC address stored by FAC in policy rules to compare with the LDAP value.

The only attribute containing the MAC address I found is 'Calling-Station-ID' in the dictionary "RADIUS-IETF."

I don't know if this attribute will always be the MAC address...

Is it possible to recover a "MAC address" attribute?

    Thanks for your help,

    Patrick

If you are using 802.1 x or mac filtering, the username of the device is used as the mac address, or calling-station-id, the time that you will see only the mac address is when you make web local auth with external authentication to the ACS. Also for users of vpn, you see this and also in terms of auth-proxy.

For WLC and dot1x mac address is always used for the calling-station-id.

    I hope this helps.

It seems that the PC is underway in the field of VOICE according to the cmd auth sess int that you have demonstrated. Do you think this has something to do with your problem? I knew a few PC have problem with that.

If you could, try to get the PC to operate in the field of DATA by sending is not the voice of ISE after permission attribute.
