  We use master pages in InDesign.  Our records have anywhere between 100-200 master pages.  We have NEVER had problems working speed in InDesign before (IE just disabling layers takes 3-4 seconds each, etc.).  I noticed when I deleted everything but a few master pages, the performance is as it should be.  Why in 5.5 is a problem now with us?  Yet once again, the way we used InDesign before, was never a problem until now and it makes it almost impossible to work with... Thoughts?  Suggestions?

  I don't usually do this, but you piqued my interest. I filed Bug #3125326, "10 x Head tilting visibility of layer downturn with several master pages" in your name. I would say that the chances of getting a fix for this problem in CS6 (much less before it) are low at the moment, so set your expectations correctly. I have not explored to see if there is no work around

  Notes from Adobe that the bulk of the time is devoted to generate previews of document page, by Preferences > file management > saving InDesign files: always save Images from the overview of the Documents, and disabling of these previews is a viable solution. Obviously this isn't a solution, but assuming that your workflow is compatible with this, it should help.

  (You could also the script only to that preference at the time of a file record...)

For example, I replace to change the color of the border and notice a black there's below him so I deleted the extra and there is another and another and another... EEK. I can easily hide them, BUT I fear they will lead to complications in the case of pre-press printing. What is the cause? What can I do to prevent it? How can I get rid of the stack-up?

  It's always haapening, if you substitute any element on the page and later master you reapply the same or another master. I would NEVER say to replace any itme master page in the page. Instead create another master based on the first, make the substitutions and apply this master. Substitutions on the pages should be avoided in all cases, not only for the problem you described above, other issues of accessibility will also come into play.

  Hi, I am creating a pdf with Chapter Book 1 appearing in all the footers on the left page (in Chapter 1) and securities of Chapter 2 in the footers on the right side of all pages (in Chapter 2). So far, I have only one master page, a master of two pages with blocks of text on two pages. After that I did this master, I dropped my text and it autoflowed. I then did a second master page based on A master called B-Chapter 2, with chapter markers on the right side instead of the left. I then applied this master to the relevant pages, and it went well. However, now that I did it, I have more control over text blocks in Chapter 2 by using master pages. What have I done wrong? I would like to have layout as described, but still be able to adjust the size of all blocks of text in all the chapters, using the master page text frames. Is this possible? Basically I want to alternate the secondary section appear on the titles, but retain control of executives text via master pages. Appreciate any thoughts.

  Object styles can not control the dimensions of the image. The good news, however, is that if managers of it line up on the cues you can activate the page layout setting BEFORE you change the page size and the images are resized automatically.

  I created a template that contains the placeholder image and header and body copy text fields... but I can't understand how to use it once I'm inside a page. In InDesign, you can substitute a main object, but I can't seem to understand. Is it still possible?

  The content placed in a master page cannot be selected/edited in the master page and not in the related content pages. A Master Page in Muse allows you to apply common elements such as the navigation, logos, headers, and footers to multiple pages in your site. A way around this would be to create an object that overlap in the content page in order to hide the Master object behind overlapping object to using the layers feature.

• How to fill my date fields placed on the Master Page to several pages?

  I have a dynamic form with fields flowing. I inserted date fields using the tab of Master Pages in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES2, Windows 7 operating system. I have only 1 Master Page. Everything on the form works fine, except when I have several pages, date fields are empty on all except the first page. One of the date fields in the event javascript has exit to calculate the second field. I can manually change the fields of date subsequent page (s), but I don't want the end user to have to do. I want that date fields on the new pages to match the date fields in the first pages. Here's my output with notes to provide a visualization of what I'm looking for.

  You set the binding of the two fields date to the ' global mandatory?

  Important each of these fields need to own a meaningful name, for example "date_UserEntry" and "date_Calculate".

  I'm editing a document that has multiple master pages. Some of master pages, I don't even see in the document. How do I select a master page and check out the pages he asked to?   Glad I could help. If you absolutely need a list of pages master page applied, you could ask in the forum script.  I bet it's something that could be scripted - the reason why it does not appear as an option is probably because most of the users don't need.

  I can drag and drop a template on both pages, but is it possible to drag and drop a template on a page once group? I have tons of pages needing the same model applied.

  I don't know if it will work, and it is simply not a solution to a single button push, but...

  Make a complete copy of your site for extra security. Include all files in the folder root in this backup.

  In the "draft", gradually to search and replace all the bits of code that tells DW that the page is based on a model. You want to do - the scale of the site and make a "replace all."

  You want to make sure that your editable fields are also taken into account in your search and replacement. If your pages are "all the same" except for the editable area, find the code which is located just before the "editable" and replacement, including the following (consider among the pages that you have based on your template...)

• Master Page use problem?

  Hi all

  I have created Master Pages, as shown in the image below. normal use Master Page are left/right.

  But for the current Document, all master pages should be wide right & left wide.

  Is there a way to set up Master Pages, so that it starts right off and then goes wide left and then repeats this process?

  Or do I have to set manually, every page right right wide and each left wide left page?

  Thanks for your reply. Format > Page Layout > apply master pages actually resets all pages to the default left/right Page.

  So what I did was to Format > Page Layout > Master Page use, then applied Custom wide left on all of the Pages on the leftof the currently used.

  

  And then returned to Format > Page Layout > Master Page use, then applied Custom wide right to all the currently used Law Pages.

  

  It worked. I repeated this process if necessary.

  HI - it is perhaps a fundamental issue, but I did not yet understand the answer. I have a site .muse with a Master Page that I used... I want to use the same Master Page on another .muse site that I'm working on. Is there a way I can copy the Master Page of the site ended up in it that I work? Any help is appreciated.

  Hey Blair,

  You should be able to do by simply selecting (Ctrl + A) and copy (Ctrl + C) all content from the page master of the Site1 and paste in Place (Ctrl + Alt + Shift + V) into the master page of Site2.

• Master Page Bugs? Do not update the changes or apply correctly, New Page.

  I work for our new models of project with master pages and have found what appears to be several major problems:

  1 when I make changes in the Master Page (.htt file), none of those changes propagate to the topics that have been attributed to this Master Page. He shouldn't do that?

  2. as an alternative, I tried to apply a Master Page to several topics on the pod to the list of topics. The first problem with this is that you can not apply the existing Master Page. So, I had to create a new Master Page with my changes and then tried to apply it. However, several problems occur. First of all, none of the new Master Page formatting appears correctly. Second, for some reason it is duplicate the breadcrumbs at the top of the page (each master page, before and after only had a breadcrumb). It seems to have combined some of the formatting both before and after the template.

  I must also point out that when I apply the Master Page with changes to a new topic, it works correctly.

  I have read the documentation carefully and that you feel that I'm doing this correctly. The problem seems to be that the feature does not as promised. I see this as a serious problem. Our models are likely to change over time, and I need the ability to apply changes massively.

  Anyone know what could be the problem?

  You must first understand Master Pages are used in two completely different ways. Looks like you make changes to the space reserved for the body of the Page Master and expected to see changes influence-related topics. Sorry, but that never worked.

  There are therefore two ways Master Pages are designed to work in RoboHelp.

  Method 1 - used to infuence the EXISTING content.

  Maybe you have created 1,000 and now you want to add a header, footer, or both to these existing entries. You set a Master Page and add a header, footer, or both to the Page Master and you associate it with topics. All of these topics now have a header or footer. Any changes made to the header and/or footer is filled throughout with all related topics.

  Method 2 - used to influence the new items that you create.

  You may know that you want to create many subjects that should have the same look and feel. Maybe all of them begin with a table that contains an image and text. So you set a Master Page and configure the space reserved for the body you want to see it. When you create new topics, you point to the Master Page so that as the topics are created, the content of the body of the Page master is filled in on the subject as a starting point. Once the topic has been created initially, the changes to the Master Page ARE NOT reflected in the topics. This method works identically to make a copy of a document. The copy is identical to the original. And any changes made to the original will be never copied during the copy. Only NEW copies will receive the changes.

  The breadcrumbs go, you have probably GLOBAL breadcrumbs activated in the recipe for the presentation of a single Source. This means that everything gets crumbs during the creation of the exit process. If you try to use the SELECTIVE Breading by adding space to the Page master, you must disable the breadcrumbs GLOBAL to avoid double.

  In a new document, I created master pages, each with a text frame type of the "model for Page body text, frame 'each with the same tag stream."

  For each block of text, I enabled property of "heads of Lounge next door.

  When I apply master pages to the body of the document (Format > Page Layout > Master Page use > Use Master Page: > Apply), the property of "heads of salon for side" disappears.

  Does anyone know why my text frames do not follow the format of applied master page?

  I use Framemaker 11.
