Using NI USB-GPIB controller Zeiss C90 CMM control

I have a Zeiss PCDMIS CMM running 32-bit on Windows XP with PCI GPIB (488.2 2.7.3)

If the controller is 8 bits, but work with my 32-bit system already, can I export the config VISA file, change on a 64-bit of Windows 7 with a USB to GPIB computer, and import this file into a newer version of the driver 488.2?  (change of bits or a more recent version of 488.2 will be a problem?)

Hi Ryan,

As long as you save this export config file, you should be able to load it into the second computer MAX.  I can't find anything that says that there will be problems with the little change.  If you are really worried about it however, give it a try without getting rid of your original computer.

It seems that you already know how to transfer the settings above, but here's a KB on how to do this http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/BF528312C9A5423A862565BC00731EC0.

  • Using Agilent USB-> GPIB controller possible

    Hello

When I have an Agilent USB-> GPIB controller so normally, I have to install the Agilent IO libraries for the windows driver.

What should I do when I want to use the USB-> GPIB controller in Labview? There, I have NEITHER - MAX-> is the driver included in MAX or what I have to install both programs?

    thx for the help

No, when you use a controller of NOR, you must NEITHER-488. 2. remember, the VISA is just one api that is above the actual hardware drivers. There is a specific hardware for the controller of Agilent driver and a driver of specific material for a controller OR.

Where the driver is depends on your version of LabVIEW. On my 8.6 distribution, there is a separate DVD called NI Device Driver DVD.

  • How old, a driver can be used with the USB-GPIB controller?

Hello, I have a litter of Nicolet who I'm trying to control using an NI USB-GPIB controller and a Nicolet provided the program. The software were made in 1995 and told me it was made to work with the NI AT-gpib cards and I would need to use a pilot more OLD, BUT I don't have access to one of these cards for a purchased a USB-GPIB, hoping that it would work. A pilot more FORMER will support the GPIB-USB?

    Sorry for you, but not

This is a really old software and works only on the driver to the gpib.

Written in LabVIEW software would go from before this date.

  • Data acquisition using the USB-GPIB 82357 B interface for 4395 impedance Analyzer has:

    Hi all

I tried to communicate Analyzer 4395A impedance with interface USB GPIB 82357 B using the command of expert keysight and Labview module tutorial. I couldn't able to find orders of SCPI (Standard for programmable Instruments orders) for 4395 A impedance Analyzer in the expert keysight command. Please help me on the subject of what are the other possibilities to acquire data from the Analyzer of impedance 4395 A using the interface USB GPIB 82357 B.? Is it possible to get LABVIEW plug & play drivers for USB-GPIB 82357 B interface? Our main goal is to control the parameters of impedance measurement and draw F vs IZI and theta vs F as well as get parameters of equivalent circuit on a PC with LABVIEW GUI.

    Can't wait to help.

    Hello!

I agree with 'heavy '. For more information on how to program a 3rd device contact the manufacturer because they have the knowledge. Unless there is already a LabVIEW driver for this device, you would have to implement that yourself and need information from the manufacturer.

Regarding your question if the GPIB-USB is unsuitable, it is quite easy to answer: If you want to communicate with a peripheral GPIB NI GPIB-USB can do this. But you would probably need a driver to use the GPIB of meaningful communication bus.

It is a specific error of the instrument and should be explained in the manual.

If you need additional assistance, provide an explanation of the error and the code you are running. Someone with experience with the instrument may be able to see something.

  • Small size of device driver USB-GPIB for distro?

    Hi all.

I had a search, and you can't find a similar question so I hope I'm not duplicating something...

I created a little app to control an Agilen 53132 meter using the USB-GPIB device OR that I would like people to be able to use internally in my group. Driver I use has been downloaded from http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2315/lang/en.

I see that my app uses the following DLLs. However, I a) disseminate these and b) there must be some drivers below this level that will be required by a clean system.

    gpibconf. SLL, ni482.dll, nipal32.dll, nipalu.dll, nipalut.dll, nispylog.dll.

Only problem I have is that it is almost 0.5 GB in size. I want my application to distro with a smaller subset so that the user can install just the driver concerned & dll etc I need for using the USB-GPIB device. Does anyone know if a driver more small value distro exist please?

    Thank you very much

    James

There is no available smaller driver.

  • Can not find the tourmalines usb gpib interface (agilent io suite) max

    Hello

I try to use my USB-GPIB Interface of 63488 TAMS in LabView.

There is a manual for the use of the TAMS Interfaces in LabView. You must uninstall all Suite of IO with the exception of the CLCL-pieces. The problem is, this option is not given in the new versions of the suite that run under win7 (14.2 +). And according to driver download site, you need to install Suite 14.2 +. It is misleading. On my request for a manual for the use of a newer version of the suite I don't got no answer so far, so I'll try on own and with your help, I hope.

To do this, I have installed on my Win7 x 86 system:

    -LabView 2009

    NI-VISA 4.6

    OR-488. 2 2.73

    -Measurement & Automation Explorer 4.6.2

    -Agilent IO Suite 15.5

    -TAMS pilot 63488 v1.2

The driver of the TAMS works on my system. The Agilent connection Expert I see the interface and the device connected. And I can connect through this connection.

To use this interface in LabView, I activated the NI-VISA for Tulip passport, but I had no new device in MAX I tried to activate the Agilent GPIB cards for 488 programs in the Expert of the connection, but it was not the solution.

So I checked the DLL. The GPIB - 32.dll is replaced by Agilent, so cards Agilent must be enabled for 488 programs. But the info for the t6348832.dll says "TULIP DLL for the USB/GPIB T63488". If the 488 option can take effect, but why I have no effect on the activation of the passport for a Tulip? Any ideas?

Thank you for your help and support.

    Michael

For someone who has this particular problem:

I have found a small workaround to solve this problem. For this you need a Suite of Agilent, which will uninstall VISA without CLCL (review of Agilent IO libraries M.01.01 should be the last). With a tool like 7Zip, you can unzip the single installation file to get the installation files. Now you must enable the compatibility mode for Windows XP on the installation application before you install the libraries. After that, you can proceed as described by TAMS:

  • Can you change the type of device to 'USB Raw resource' to GPIB controller?

I'm trying to configure a GPIB FL Contec GP - IB (USB) controller in MAX.  I could so he can register through the creation of a pilot of the Assistant driver VISA, but it fits as a "gross resource USB" rather than as a GPIB controller.  I can send and receive information from the controller, but it does give me an option to search for connected devices of GPIB communicate with them.  Is it possible to change the type of the device, maybe by manually changing the driver created by the wizard of the NI-VISA driver?  Thank you for your time.

N ° do not use MAX at all. You can just create a GPIB-USB controller on your own. You should contact the seller.

  • For the USB Hi-Speed and Licensing policy GPIB controller

    Hello

I wanted to confirm understanding licensing NI VISA.

If I use the GPIB controller OR to the USB Hi-Speed, is NEITHER VISA license are included?  488.2 NOR pilot is that CD is included along so I guess its license.

In accordance with the licensing policy as long as you are using hardware NOR the license included.

Here is the sentence that does this is clear.

"Are examples of products that include the driver NI-VISA LabVIEW, CVI, TestStand, NOR-488. 2, GPIB controllers, PXI controllers, etc. If you do not use a software or hardware, you can buy NI-VISA development software separately. »

If my understanding is 488.2 and NI-VISA OR license is included if you use the NI GPIB for Hi Speed USB controller.

    Thank you

    ANI

It's true and you can deploy a runtime of NI-VISA smaller with your executable file.

  • If I use my like my DAQ GPIB controller to control my instruments?

Hi, I am a beginner in BT and need your help for dead on my undrestanding clarification:

Suppose I want to control 7 instruments (such as temperature sensor, osciloscope,...), instruments using my GPIB controller, in other words, my pieces as my DAQ GPIB (am I right this step?) doesn't not need to communicate between them, but whenever I read the temperature value, I'm doing some calculations in my code LV and then decide what changes apply to instruments for example reduction of the frequency of the signal generator , pls I would like to know if I have done my DAQ correctly? (I mean if the GPIB controller acts as my DAQ) then comment how to decide what kind of GPIB is suitable for my work

    I really need your help,

    Thank you

    elahetal,

If you have all the tools you need, you now have the following equipment (to summarize)

    (1) to a computer.  It must be decently fast, especially if you order 5 + machines, but it should not be surprising.

    (2) a GPIB card that works with your computer (PCI slot or PCIe, etc.).  I HIGHLY recommend a NI GPIB card, especially if you use it to write a labview program.  3 party cards can complicate your life village.

    (3) GPIB cables to each machine (if you have 2 computers, there are 2 cables).  If a machine is not a GPIB connector, it can not be controlled of GPIB.  There may be a RS-232 or USB drive.  These connections need not a GPIB cable, they need their respective cables.  Some machines also cannot be digitally controlled.  A DMM from the 1960s is probably not the connectors or the internal hardware to be part of your installation.  Make sure that each piece of equipment can be controlled by the computer

Things I would do to get started on your code LV.

    (1) download the drivers for each instrument.  The drivers are code LV, when it is executed, allowing you to communicate with your instrument.  Some drivers are pre-assembled with interfaces that resemble your machine controls, others come with orders but no interface.  The quality of each driver can vary.  If there is no such thing as no driver, reading extensively the manual of the instrument and the protocols of the connection you are using (GPIB, USB, etc.).

    (2) get each work unit separately.  If you can get each device to be controlled entirely by computer, you are 80% of the way.  This can take a long time.  I know that I took several weeks to get each device works correctly.  Once, you have separate codes and know that each device can be controlled by the computer (or only dump information), then you are ready to code.

    (3) build the master code by bringing together the different parts.  If you think of him as Fortran or C programming, it becomes very easy.

Regarding semantics, data acquisition is the whole plant; instruments + computer + GPIB.  Your computer is the controller and the bus is the GPIB cables where are transmitted data, commands and responses.  Read up on it.

  • Can I use a USB hub to connect to more of a GPIB-USB-HS USB ports?

I have an instrument that has a GPIB-USB-HS connected and the USB cable is connected to a USB hub. Can I have multiple computers to connect with USB hub in their respective USB ports? If so, how many computers can I connect using the USB cable?

I downloaded the latest Driver NI-VISA from the Web site.

You must first a hub which allows to switch between multiple PCs and PCs as one would at once be connected and in control.

When you buy this particular type of hub, one of the specifications is how many pc connections there.

  • How to use traditional nidaq with a USB-GPIB installation

    Hello

When I tried to install the interface GPIB-USB on my computer it tells me I must uninstall nidaq traditional, but I need nidaq traditional also.

Is it possible to have both installed and functional? Is there a work around?

    Help, please... Thank you

    Darryl Huggins

Thank you for your response Dennis,

When I went back to look at the message I think he wanted me to uninstall a driver inherited NOR-488, so I advanced and uninstalled.

But he said traditional legacy of NOR-DAQ. I was unable to see my card GPIB with Max is why I wanted to install the USB-GPIB.

After installing now I am able to see the card GPIB and USB-GPIB interface. Must of had a bad driver, I suppose?

So now I will run another test to make sure that NEITHER-traditional DAQ still works also. But so far so good.

    Thanks, Darryl

  • Gbspecifications FOR control using prologix usb converter

    Hello

I wonder if anyone has an expirience controlling instruments gpib with labview by using a Gbspecifications for controller usb (prologix).  Specifically, I'm looking at the controller a 8753ES agilent VNA.  This model is a little old, but I think it should always work.  So far, I've installed the cirtual com port (vcp) drivers for the device, and he now recognizes the controller prologix com4.  However, I don't know how to access the device connected to com4.  Agilent IO does not (although I'm not sure that there are drivers for it anyway).  I think I need the computer had to recognise as a hub gpio instead of a com port, but I don't know how to do this.  Should I d2xx drivers?  Using a tool on the site web of prologix, I communicate with the survey of the adapter address gpib 16 (which I have the AVI), and the survey answers.  On the side of NES, I put the address of 5, gp - ib diag on controller and a talker/listener.  Currently, the light T is on, which means it's on talk (as opposed to the r, l or s).  Any help would be appreciated.  If I could get an address of visa, it would be great.

    Thank you

    Eric

The unit works if you detect it as a COM port. There is no way it will be never detected as a controller with Agilent GPIB or OR software. There is no reason at all anyway use Agilent software. There is example code on the site of Prologix with functions series VISA. In addition, the forum search «Prologix»

  • Use the USB port to emulate keyboard

    Hello

Is it possible to use a USB port of an on-board controller (PXI8108) to replicate a keyboard when plugged on a device waits

    a USB keyboard?

    Thank you

    Gary.

What I understand about USB, I don't think that you can do.

The USB ports on the PXI controller host ports are and as such cannot be used as ports of the device. A keyboard would be a HID device class. Maybe it's a kind of emulator HID that could be placed between the PXI and your USE awaits a USB keyboard...
