PI2001 is not compatible with Vista.

FWIW... it is possible to run PI2001 in a virtual
Such machine as reported by a Picture It! lover

Although expected, but it works. The only problems
It's a complicated procedure and it
requires a new copy of Win XP. (What this
amounts to is that you are running Windows XP...
in a window on a system Vista and you can
install your programs Windows XP on it and run)
One problem is that the virtual machine must
share RAM with Vista, so you're a little
limited.

One last thing... MS Picture It! has ended up becoming MS Digital Image...
the latest version of the Digital Image...'Microsoft Digital image Suite
Anniversary Edition "has been optimized for Vista.

Although the range of products has been abandoned... the
60 days trial version is still available for download, if you would
like to try it. It does not include pre-formatted project
and works of art.
