• Add virtual machines to a data store while changing the name?

  I am trying to create a virtual machine in standby (or more, I do not have a final number) in a second datacenter.  The goal is to have a copy of a group of virtual machines updated once a week as a relief.

  I'll use our SAN replication to keep them up-to-date, so once a week, I stop all virtual machines in the data store, remove them from the inventory and remove the data store.  Then on the side of SAN, I'll create a new copy of the data store, then add this data store to vSphere.  We will do a few rounds of network to ensure we have not any change in the network that should be taken in the virtual machine.

  The only changes to the virtual machine that needs to be done, are changing the vSwitch is logged in, that I understood, and to rename the virtual machine, either before being added, or when it is added.  Since it is a copy of a virtual machine running, I'm not able to add all virtual machines to the new data store.  I need either change the name of the virtual machine before being added, or when it is added.  All I have to do to change the name is add something like - backup at the end of the name of the virtual machine.

  Is it reasonably simple way to do this?  It seems that he was promised that we could do that and now I need to find a way to make it work.

  Need a little help I'm running the following

  vCenter Server 4.0.0 (build 208111)

  ESX Server 4.0.0 (build 208167)

  I have a computer virtual running WIndows 2000 Advanced and when I try and open the console I get a black screen and the error message following

  "" Unable to connect to MKS: virtual machine configuration file does not exist '. "

  I scoured the data store and all the files of the virtual machine appear to be in place, I thought deletin the virtual machine from the inventory and add the vmdk file, it would be a good idea?

  Remove and add new inventory won't hurt (you could lose data historial for virtual machine), it probably won't solve the problem.

  I doubt, it is a problem with the .vmx file, but you can try:

  -Remove the VM of the inventory

  -To create the new virtual machine (with the same characteristics as the virtual machine that you removed), name it differently and do not add hard drives that it

  -Change the new VM settings and add the existing VMDK virtual machine that you deleted

  -Power on VM and try

  • You should always have your complete file to the virtual machine original intact, in case you need, you will always have your original vmx file to add it to the inventory.

  By doing these steps you re-create the vmx file.

  What I tried to do is the following:

  Export/create a virtual machine from the current physical running computer. After it's done, I plug in the USB key which contains the files of virtual computer for a laptop and try to start this virtual machine. It does not start due to "recent changes". This probably means that the OS never will start, right?

  This seems odd to me, or I can't understand what is happening here. I thought that to have a virtual machine means that the operating system could not doing the physical machine, it is running on, but just saw it is virtualized OS/machine.

  I would like to "clone" a current physical machine and then run it on another PC is because we need to have a client machine, convert applications on it and then return either the image (if they already had a running image) or we have a complete script on how to convert/upgrade for that client applications so that the downtime will be minimal and maximum success rate.

  Windows 7 (desktop and laptop PC run this) 32-bit

  Some clients running ESX and we want to take a picture of that and do the same trick as for workstation

  I bought a copy of Virtualization Manager 2010 at the time where converter couldn't handle windows 7.

  Nowadays the 4.3 version should work well.

  As mentioned previously, the mebdedded in my computer is very outdated.

  After the removal and reinstallation of the vib a few times it displays all the 8 GPU - there are 2 installed with 4 GPU cards each.

  Also, when I upgraded the hardware in the virtual computer to version 11 I could choose the "Shared PCI Device" and add the K1 GRID of NVIDIA.

• Set of workflow Performance Virtual Machine

  I'm trying to fix limits of network performance using the workflow to "Define the performance of the virtual machine" in the library of Orchestrator (library - & gt; vCenter - & gt; Virtual Machine Management - & gt; Basic). My network is a dvPortGroup - and I want to put things like average bandwidth, bandwidth, burst size.

  I know that this stream supports and when I run the stream with the values defined by hand, newspapers said the executed correctly flow. However, when I look at the properties of the dvPortGroup I see no change.

  I'm confused on how this should work. My virtual machine will have two NICs (connected to two different dvPortGroups) and I want to apply the formatting only to a network card.   VirtualMachineConfigInfo.networkShaper property can be changed only in ESX 2.5 and earlier versions. For ESX 3.0 and later versions, this property is not populated. In order to change the newtork formatting, you must configure the network traffic by changing the HostNetworkTrafficShapingPolicy which is available on the HostVirtualSwitch or HostPortGroup.

  As a result, the workflow would not change everything well for network shape for ESX 4.0 and this is why you do not see the changes.

  I believe that VM used to have a network card installed once?

  You can think of your VMS from hardening. By default, each user who has remote access to the VM can eject the NETWORK card using the windows function to eject removable devices. It's what could have happened to your customer.

  To avoid this problem, you can add several custom in the vmx file settings. To avoid removing the devices that it would be

  isolation.device.connectable.disable = "true"
  isolation.device.edit.disable = "true"

  Does anyone know how to check if the Oracle (JVM) Java Virtual Machine is installed?
  I have a 10G (10.2.0.3) performed on a win 2003 Server installation. When I simply check the products installed in YES I can't find an entry of JVM. So I guess it is not installed. On the other hand, when I when I try to add components to the installation of Oracle, again, I don't see not a JVM option.
  Maybe it's a separate product, or a product of one of the components installation Oracle sup which, if installed, installs the default JVM.

• Script to create multiple virtual machines model works is not for the network adapter variable

  We are working on a script to create multiple virtual machines from a template. The script works fine, but when we try to include commands to set the NIC to a group of specific ports on a dvswitch script errors on. Here's what we have so far. This script (less network variables) works, but we would like to include the network configs in the script as well.

  You cannot use the - model and Networkname - parameters of the cmdlet New - VM in a single order, because both are in different parameter sets.
