vCenter 5.5 Web Client Login - authentication hangs for minutes...

I just finished an upgrade on the VCSA since the latest 5.1 to, I guess, the last 5.5.0b. Upgrade was surprisingly fast and clean and, so far, the only large thing of sorts (apart from the environment variable missing for remote console causing Java to fail - I fixed) is the process of connection.

It is a very simple VCSA executes all integrated services (SSO database) with no external authentication or other difficulties. The some user accounts and passwords seem to have met very well as well.

Each connection is working, but the progress bar hangs 'Authenticating' animated on the screen for several minutes before allowing the user access. Once, things seem to work well (at their level usual slow, but not worse than 5.1 was never for us).

Any thoughts on the source of this endless hang?

Ah! Too bad. I did some more research and found this POS removal procedure:

http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalID=2038356

It worked like a charm. Login is back to normal now.

I hope this helps others if they encounter the problem!

Note: Use caution when installing codecs that you find on the Internet, in particular some of the free codec packs that claim to include codecs from a wide variety of companies or organizations. Incompatibilities are known to exist with some of the components in these codec packs that can cause serious playback issues in the player and other players, lead to the corruption of the system and make it difficult for Support from Microsoft to diagnose and solve playback problems. For these reasons, we strongly discourage you from installing these codec packs, and recommend that remove you them if you have installed them and you are having problems with the player. Install only codecs, filters or plug-ins from reliable sources, authorized, such as the website of the official supplier. Even in this case, beware: some codec suppliers offer minimal customer. Before you install the components of digital media, set a system restore point. The restore point to go back to the configuration of your system, if necessary.

  • vCenter 5.5 Web Client displays incorrect inventory

I have improved my vCenter to 5.1 5.5 and it works except the Web Client has the incorrect inventory data.  It lacks some virtual machines and has a few virtual computers ghost that do not exist in reality.  There are no error messages that indicate that the server is malfunctioning.  The really strange thing is that when I connect with the vSphere Client on Windows, everything is OK.  Veeam shows also all the correct inventory when it connects to the vCenter server.  If its only the Web Client that doesn't not.  Everyone knows this or have any ideas on how to force the Web Client to update?

Edit: I forgot to mention this is VCSA

I finally solved my problem. It turns out I used a version newer (v1.0.1).) OpenSSL that exports the key file in a different format.  You can tell because the content of the 'wrong' key file will be one - KEY PRIVATE START while the "correct content of the file key will have a----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY.»  I basically made the whole process of certificate using OpenSSL v0.9.8 below and of course, the--BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY was there and I was able to register the inventory service.

  • inventory of missing vCenter using the web client?

I just upgraded my environment to 5.1 and for some reason, one of my vCenter servers shows no inventory by using the web client. I double checked the permissions on both sites and have checked the inventory in the vSphere client and everything seems good. I have two related modes and the other shows, everything is fine. I tried repointing and re-application as in accordance with article (KB VMware: repointing and re-application VMware vCenter Server 5.1.x and components) but all exits show as being already recorded. Any ideas?

    Thank you.

This is the expected behavior for the operation of the Service of the inventory.

Searches in the vSphere Client works perfectly?

Take a look at the following kb NOT to DO ALL THE STEPS IN THERE!

    http://KB.VMware.com/kb/2033620

Only follow re-register vCenter Server with the Service of inventory for now, if the search in vSphere Client function does not work correctly.

  • Internet Explorer 11 and vCenter 5.5 web client

I'm testing to improve vSphere of 5.0 to 5.5. One thing I noticed, is that the web client seems to have a problem with IE 11. I get this message in a bar at the top of the browser:

This browser is not supported. Some features may not work properly. Requires a minimum of IE7, Firefox 9 or 14 chrome on Windows. A minimum of 9 Firefox or Chrome 14 are needed on Linux. A minimum of 9 Firefox, Chrome 14 or Safari 5.1.3 are needed on Mac OS X. read the vSphere Web Client Help for more details.

Is there any solution for this? It seems prudent to ignore this message, everything seems to work ok, but I don't want to really when 5.5 is deployed in the field all questions on this message.

  • vRealize Orchestrator - cannot add to vSphere Web Client

    Hello

I configured the device vRealize Orchestrator and added the vCenter Server to the server via the customer to vRO Orchestrator--> library and can successfully run workflows against objects in vCenter. Then vRO works.

    BUT

The problem I have is that I can't seem to add the server vRO to vSphere Web Client. I do not see the plugin if and when I go to the Orchestrator plugin I see the vCenter Server in the "House of vCO' tab but"N/A"under"Managed by vCenter Orchestrator Server"." Under the "Lists" section it says "vCO servers: 0".» What Miss me?

I tried to add the new server to vRO (device) by changing the vCenter object and enter the server IP new vRO. But "Test connection" fails every time.

In addition, vCO has been installed with vCenter initially but never used and not yet used. But I don't think it would make a difference.

I don't see the vCenter plugin tab in the left menu when connecting to vRO with the customer and com.vmware.vco isn't showing in /mob .

    Versions:

    vCenter: 5.5u2

    vRO: 6.0.3.0 build 3000579

    Thank you!

    Hello

I'm a bit confused. It seems you are trying to use the two vCO 5.5.2 and vRO with VC 5.5.2 6.0.3, but plug-ins are different (they have different deployment mechanism, different extensions in MOB, etc.). I recommend you stick to the version of the vCO you got installed with VC - in this case, 5.5.2.

    Then, check the following:

    • Check that the vCO is configured with the SSO authentication, and it is the same instance used by VC/Web Client SSO
    • Check that this instance of vCenter is added as properly to vCO and there is an extension of 5.5.x - style into the CROWD. His name is com.vmware.orchestrator. [some-guid]
    • Check that the extension of the server property contains a record with URL property pointing to the server fine vCO - https:[vco-ip]:8281
    • Make sure that the user you are using to connect to the Web Client has a permission; for example. You should be able to connect to vCO Client Java with this user

If the foregoing is valid, check the Web Client (vsphere_client_virgo.log) log file for any errors of loading of the vCO and connection at the vRO server plugin.
