VMware dear Experts,

If I use the following sql express edition for vCenter database, so I would like to know what will be the maximum size of vCenter database and host how much we can add in vCenter server.

SQL express edition 2005 32/64 bit

SQL express edition 2008 32/64 bit

SQL express edition 2012 32/64 bit

Concerning

Mr. VMware

The limitation is NOT on the number of hosts or VMs. SQL limitation only based on size.

SQL Express 2005/2008 - 4 GB

SQL Express 2008 R2 to 10 GB

SQL Express 2012 to 10 GB

You use SQL Workshop in the APEX, the "SET SERVEROUTPUT ON" is a SQL * more order - which is not included in the workshop of SQL...
So, Yes, that's your problem... now you can close the message and mark it as answered...

  • Database 10 g Express Edition and Oracle 10 g install

I have Oracle 10 g client on my desktop and it connects to a server Oracle 10g on a database server by using a tnsnames.ora file. I feel that to run Oracle directs that a client server and database is required. Is this correct? What is the database 10g Express Edition? It is the client, the database server, or both? How should I use the tnsnames.ora file? If it is a database server where the tables are stored? Please help me I'm confused. Thank you.

Not necessarily; in fact, you can run the Oracle database commands using pass (local) connections. You would of course be connected to the operating system where it is installed your Oracle database to establish local connections without using tnsnames.

    >

Oracle Database XE is a database server. Client software must be installed on client systems for remote access to Oracle Database 10g Express Edition. You need not install the client on the same computer as Oracle Database 10 g Express Edition.

The tables are logical structures that are in your data files; the data files are physically stored on the operating system on which the Oracle database server is installed.

  • Patching vCenter when Using SQL Server Express

    Hello

I have a few questions about the correction of vCenter and will use the installation of vCenter Server 4.0 Patch1 as my reference for these issues...

I use the tech note at http://www.badkey.com/DB/blogsphere.nsf/2/JWIE-7VDPKJ/ $File/PTech_note_vCenter_Server_4.0_Patch1.pdf the process document. This seems to be an official document from VMware, but I can't find anywhere on the VMware Web site. What is the correct process? It is on the VMware web site?

Backup of the database - the tech note above does not have reference to smaller facilities that run SQL Express. Are there specifications compared to this type of installation? If I upgrade, I think he should see the 'old' database immediately, correct? If I do not use the backup for a reason, is there traps to do this up to-and-operational?

    Thank you

    number1vspherefan.

If you point the existing of the current DB Server vCenter DSN, and then you perform the upgrade.

Otherwise, you perform a new installation or an upgrade of old data.

You can see the list of the DSN in your ODBC Manager.

  • How to skip the installation of SQL Express 2005 and using SQL Express 2008 instead?

I have SQL Express 2008 is installed and you want to use instead of SQL Express 2005.

How to configure the installation of Lookout as he ignores the installation of SQL Express 2005?

Are there other measures that must be taken so that Lookout can work properly with SQL Express 2008?

    Thank you.

    OK - it worked.

However, for 64-bit installations, I had to use the WOW of SQL Express 2008 versions, because, the Citadel is a 32-bit database and installation of 64-bit native versions would not allow an upgrade of the Citadel of Instance.

    Thank you.

    Hi guys

    How are you?

I want to ask about my problem, that is, I can not access the homepage of the Oracle 10 g Express Edition database when I press 'go to database Home Page' Open firefox it's is not something the way I try to write the page web http://127.0.0.1:8080 / apex on the address bar but firefox gives me an error which is "unable to connect".

So please when you know the solution post it here step by step "I'm beginner linux user."

    My distro is Fedora 14

    .. Thank you very much

    Saleh

The stage set up was completed successfully?

    for example, you have run

    /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure

After you install the rpm? This is version beta of XE, 10g and 11g. You can run again to reenter your configuration settings, such as HTTP port and make sure they have the expected values of this way.
Despite that, you could try to (re) start the service and see if it happens without errors.

    /etc/init.d/oracle-xe stop
    /etc/init.d/oracle-xe start

If everything looks not too bad, you may have a port conflict with another service using port 8080. In this case, you might reconfigure XE for its HTTP server listening on a different port.

When you try to use 'Import and data export' Wizard SQL Server 2012 Express with Advanced Services, I get the following error message:

I tried everything I can think of. I tried to copy this .dll on various windows system files, by registering the .dll file, even tried to not downgrading from SQL Express 2016 until 2012... no luck, still the same problem. I tried everything on at least the first five pages of a Google search. I am running it in a box of Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. • Unable to connect to the database using SQL * more

Hi, I have Oracle 10 g XE installed in my labtop, and I can't connect using SQL * more.
I can connect using the User Interface of navig however, I could do after the following procedure to change the password for the sys account:
    -Open a command prompt
    -type sqlplus
-On the line "Enter user name", enter the sysdba virtue
    -On the SQL > prompt, type alter user sys identified by NewPassword;

But the thing is that even if I am able to connect using sys/NewPassword from my browser UI, I don't get the same result when do this using the SQL prompt.

What I try to do is the following:
    SQL > connect sys/NewPassword
Can I get first a warming of the planet by saying I should use sysdba or sysoper to connect to the system account, but none of those who work.

Can anyone advice me on this subject?

    Thanks in advance

    Does make sense at all?

You really need to Read The Fine Manual
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/server.112/e16508/TOC.htm

When you log in as USER "SYS" DB must be described as 'AS SYSDBA'

    sqlplus
    / as sysdba
    SHOW USER;
-line above indicates that you are now connected to the DB as "SYS"!

SQL > CONNECT SYS / AS SYSDBA

  • Backingup database using SQL script

    Hello

Let me start by saying I am new to Oracle and I'm learning how to do a project where I have to write a SQL script that allows you to back up all data files (i.e. control, redo log and data files).  Assuming that all the files are stored in a folder, the source locations and the destination of these files must be provided as 'substitution variables.  The script must implement the following tasks (directions)

    1. Log in as the SYS user with SYSDBA role
    2. Closing the database
    3. Copy the files to the location of the source database and store it in the destination location
    4. Restart the database
    5. Log in the user SCOTT

In addition, the script must use the "HOST" command to publish the operating system command to perform the copy task.

    * Since this is just a learning project and not a real scenario, I can't run my script in SQLplus to verify if it is correct. That's why I ask for professional advice. I am currently working with Oracle 11 g Enterprise running on a client Windows XP OS.

Here's what I decided, it's a cold backup, please let me know if what I do is correct so far, and if not can you please steer me in the right direction.

connect SYS / < password > have SYSDBA

    Shutdown;

Copy of HOST of & source_file to & destination_file;       -It is the line that confuses me.

connect SYS / < password > have SYSDBA

    start-up;

    Connect scott/tiger

Thanks in advance for your time and input.

I currently have the free version of 11g Oracle Enterprise downloaded on my computer, running on VB with the client Windows XP OS. But being new to this that I find myself afraid of bad script execution that can break my DB. I know that I can just reload and try again, but I try to approach the question as carefully as possible. Although the error codes help me understand what I am doing wrong much of the time.

Break things (and their fixation) is how to learn.  Because you are running in VBox, simply take a snapshot of vbox system before testing.  So if it is irrevocably broken, you just restore the snapshot system.

But give what you're trying to do, what do you think might happen this may break your db?  As far as the db is concerned, everything you do connect, stop and commissioning.  Nothing can go off of the truth of that.

    Hello

I need to export the database to a server and import it on another server db using the export function of database under the Tools menu in SQLl developer. How to import it? This is for Oracle database 10g.

    Hello

I think it generates the file .sql containing all the objects that you are exported. Then you can simply open the target database file and run as a script. Also, there is another forum for sqldeveloper related issues.

  • SQL Express for vCenter Database

Hi, I intend to establish a small 12 Ent more ESXi 5 host environment and would like to ask if there is no limitation of the accommodation of the vCenter on SQL Express on the vCenter Server database. Additional, also hosting the databases of Manager Update and SRM.

    Thank you

    Hello

To use SQL Express have a limitation (4 GB Maximum size database):

    Notes:
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express is intended for small deployments of up to 5 servers and/or 50 virtual machines.

If you must you use VUM and SRM, consider using another SQL. It's better.

    Requeriments VUM - http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&externalId=2005084

  • Move the database for VirtualCenter of SQL Express to SQL 2008 on another server

    Hi all

First of all, I spent some time trying to figure how to move our current VirtualCenter database to our production (currently the DB is stored on the server using SQL Express real VirtualCenter) SQL server. Before any way suggests the obvious, I searched the VMware knowledge base and tried to follow the steps in the following KB:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 7960893

I have successfully completed the first 2 steps, but when I see the data source in the ODBC Administrator, I don't see anything (I have connected with each account who has already logged on to this server just in case). To work around this problem, I tried everything simply create a new DSN pointing to the new SQL Server. I even modified registry settings in order to force him to watch the new SQL Server. Despite this, I can not start the VirtualCenter service because it does not connect to the new database. When I reinstall the database local, everything is good.

I did much research on similar questions, but not once I saw someone mention that no data source was present. I don't know if this was due to an option selected during initial installation or anything else.

We are currently running version 4.0.0 vCenter. Any help would be amazing!

    Thanks in advance

    Dean

Is your operating system 64 bit or 32 bit - because it affects the DSN, you see:

To work around this problem, use the appropriate version of the ODBC Administrator tool. If you build and then run an application as a 32-bit application on a 64 bit system, you must create the ODBC data source using the ODBC Administrator in % windir%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe. To indicate the type of DSN, you can add '_32' to the user 32-bit DSN and "_64" to the 64-bit DSN user.
