vCenter license key 5

Hello

We bought a VMware vCenter Server 5 Essentials for vSphere license.

I have installed and configured the VMware vCenter-Server-Appliance 5 in one of the 5 ESXi servers.

If I connect with vSphere Client for the server vCenter, I get the message that it's in track mode and I left 60 days.

Where can I add the license key to unlock vCenter Server to a full version?

Kind regards

Leszek.

Hello

You add the license under the section permitting the NCE program, you have loffed in the virtual infrastructure.

    Hello

It is possible to get vcenter license key using PowerCLI?

    Hello-

You can simply add in a property calculated to have the current name of vCenter included with the corresponding license info, as:

    ## array of names of vCenters to which to connect$arrVCList = "myvc0.mydom.com","myvc1.mydom.com"

    &{foreach ($strVC in $arrVCList) { ## connect to this vCenter name $oThisVC = Connect-VIServer -Server $strVC ## get this vC's license mgr $viewLicMgr = Get-View $oThisVC.ExtensionData.Content.LicenseManager -Property Licenses ## select some things $viewLicMgr.Licenses | select @{n="vCenterName"; e={$oThisVC.Name}},* Disconnect-VIserver $oThisVC -Confirm:$false | Out-Null}} | Export-Csv D:\Scripts\License\licenses.csv -NoTypeInformation -UseCulture

I changed it a bit to keep things in preparation a little more (vs farce in a variable license info).  What do I do?

Hi, this should be a quick, I recently bought more essential kit, and I managed to install the ASB,

However, the license key I received was only for essentials and vsphere essentials vcenter more processor license.

It does not come with the VSA license key, I tried to enter the vcenter license key, it came out invalid, so currently use the 60-day trial.

I'm missing something here? Where can I get the license key of vsa?

Our company recently bought a license for VMware vCenter Server 6 Essentials for vSphere (VCS6-ESSL-C) with license keys for VMware vSphere Essentials 6 for 1 processor (ha6-ESSL-C).

I accumulated vCenter Server 6 on a physical device and assigned the new relevant license key, as well as installed Update Manager Server on this machine. This instance seems to be functional and functional.

Now, I'm trying to import 3 x ESXi hosts in this environment which have the license keys from an environment "vSphere advanced 5. These 3 hosts are administered under an instance of VM of vSphere vCentre, that I want to the Commission under this license and the license on these hosts is no longer valid after a takeover of the company.

    Question:

    (A) Comment can I get correctly to the setting of these hosts so that I can use the new vSphere license key 6 that I received?

    (B) should I upgrade these hosts to v6 ESXi befin environment to use this new license key?

    (C) do I need to disable features on the hosts in order to apply to apply this license key "6 of vSphere Essentials?

    (D) what is the correct order for doing all these things to use this new environment vCentre?

Thanks in advance for any assistance given.

    Concerning

    Grant

I havn't done it myself yet, but I think you should be able to achieve your goal, follow these steps:

-downgrade license keys CPU Essentials to v5 im Portal MyVMware

-the value of the new vCenter Server Evaluation Mode (actually maybe not necessary)

-Add the licenses of Essentials v5 license vCenter inventory 6

-Add hosts to the new vCenter Server ESXi 5.5 and assign licenses Essentials guests

-re - assign the license previously removed to vCenter Server

  • vCenter not recognizing ESX 4.1 license key

Our evaluation license missed yesterday so I got a free license key and update of the key on the host through the vShpere Client and the host says now that it's a license and expiration date '' never. '' But when trying to connect to vCenter Server with the vSphere Client and try to reconnect the host that it always comes up with the error "the license for Mode of assessment attributed to the host [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] has expired. Recommend updating of the license".

We have tried until now to restart the server machine vCentre, stopping all virtual machines and esx host, but still vCentre computer restart does not recognize that the license has been updated.

I've seen other people on the forums here with similar problems, but they seemed to all have changed the time on the host and it is while the error expired began to happen to them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to remove the host from inventory and add it again to vCenter?

  • 5 vsphere license keys will work on vCenter 4.1?

My attempts to record the vSphere license keys 5 on vCenter 4.1 failed with the message "License not found error 5 license file.

Anyone have any idea if this is due to the difference in versions (ie the vsphere licenses 5 on vcenter 4.1)? or is it perhaps something else?

No, the keys do not work.

You must connect to Vmware and manage your license, do a downgrade. (you can do an upgrade later)

You cannot use both licenses at the same time.

  • Help! Installed vCenter Eval, now VIC prompt for license key

    Hello

We ran two hosts running ESXi managed by VMware Virtual Infrastructure Client for a few weeks - I think that it's all free software?  I wait until the 21st to order vSphere Essentials but in the meantime thought I could trial vCenter.  I installed vCenter on my laptop but never used, but when I started to VIC I started having a recall notice.  Evaluation having been exhausted, but instead to return to the previous situation where I could use VIC to individually manage the ESXi host, now when I open VIC I get the following message:

"ESX Server is returned to its previous state of license when the evaluation period expires.  The following features are no longer available: Consolidated Backup.  To enable these features, you must upgrade your ESX Server license. »

When I try and start one of my virtual machines, I get the following message:

"There are not enough licenses to complete this operation. "Select the host containing the virtual machine, you are trying to turn on, click the Configuration tab and change the licenses.

When I connect to my other host I don't get either the message above, so it seems have triggered something on my first host.  All I want to do is continue to run ESXi and VIC as before I installed vCenter - can anyone advise please?  Should I put in the license key you get after registering to download ESXi?

    Thanks in advance,

    roadsweeper.

If your vCenter evaluation has expired, you will need to manage it welcomes as standalone.  When you download ESXi you should have a s/n.  This key must be added where it says "use serial number."

  • vCenter Licensing Question

We are currently conducting environment vSphere with vCenter Server 5 5 (using the VCSA).  My vSphere, ESXi licensing have the right to upgrade to vSphere 6, but is not my vCenter license.  After further review, we have seen that the SnS support contact us on our vCenter license had expired in January 2015, so we went ahead and got that renewed back support.  My question is, now that we have renewed the support we may update this license vCenter vCenter license 5 6 or we will have to buy a new license of vCenter 6 new?  I checked my VMware Licensing Portal and this shows that we have supported on vCenter 2018 license, but I don't see any option upgrade to this topic.  Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the community,

as far as I know all the licenses that are (or were taken over at the time a new version was released) by an active subscription can be upgraded. When you select "Update license keys" in the drop down menu "I want", you should be able to select and upgrade your vCenter Server license.

  • VSAN showing license key have expired on a brand-new facility.

Currently have a test laboratory of the three hosts Vsphere implemented.

With each host with a brand new facility, from magnetic today ESXi 5.5 and at least an SSD and one of the hard drives.

I was able to initially configure the vsan through the command line on the first host, and then once I had imported the latest version of the standalone version of VCenter and added the two remaining hosts on the VCenter server. It would allow me to add additional disks to the cluster vsan because of a vsan expired license key error. I found this rather curious because everything is the oldest in its facility in four hours.

If you help me to find a way to get the vsan on trial license once again, would be great.

After having play with VCenter apparatus and ESXi hosts, looks like it was a problem syncing after all. Not so much the time set in the BIOS, as well the ignition when the VCenter unit is initially configured.

  • vCenter license migration.

    Hi all

I'm n process of installing a new server vCenter and DB. Currently I have a vCenter 5.0 with Sql Express. I want to install new 5.5 vCenter as there is a problem with the Windows operating system. Can anyone provide steps on the migration of the current 5.0 vCenter vCenter license to new vCenter 5.5. And not taking a full backup of the current comics and migration to the new full DB will give me same old vCenter inventory?

    Kind regards

    Vikram kumar

You must first migrate the database to db express to Full SQL 2008 DB. The steps are lower in the article.

VMware KB: Migrating the database from the SQL Express vCenter server to full SQL Server

-Deploy the new operating system and give the same IP address and host name you use for the old operating system.

-Take the backup of the more secure base for located.

-Take SSL certificate to the top of the old C:\ProgramData\VMware\VirtualCenter Server\SSL Server

-Create the system DSN proper connections on the new host to vCenter server. For more information, see displaying and editing of the database server to vCenter Server installation fails with ODBC and DSN errors (1003928).

-If the new VirtualCenter server using the same hostname and IP address, SSL certificates can be copied to the new server to eliminate the need to reconnect the ESX and ESXi hosts.

-To copy the VirtualCenter Server SSL certificates:

    1. Create this folder structure on the new server:
    2. C:\ProgramData\VMware\VirtualCenter Server\SSL

-To copy the VirtualCenter Server SSL certificates:

-Copy these files from the server, VirtualCenter of origin to the new server, while preserving the folder structure:

    • VirtualCenter Server\SSL\rui.key C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware
    • VirtualCenter Server\SSL\rui.pfx C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware
    • VirtualCenter Server\SSL\rui.crt C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware

-Launch Virtual center 5.5 installation see the installation guide for 5.5

-When you are prompted, select use existing databaseand provide the correct credentials for the database.

-When you are prompted, select this option to not reset the database to keep all your inventory data.

-Restart the computer after the installation is complete.

Enterprise Suite vCenter license should be good.

No Internet access is required to validate a license code.

  • With regard to the update of the Essentials license keys plus 4.1 Essentials plus 5.1

    Hello

We run essential with 2 hosts and one instance of vcenter server is version 4.1. We have an active SnS contract so as I understand it, we can make the free upgrade.

I wonder that we plan to do the update real level about a month or two. Can I do the upgrade of the license key now? and my old licensekeys that I now still works fine in our production environment? or that I have to update the server vcenter and the hosts first and then go ahead and do the upgrade of the mywmare.com license key?

don't want to do the upgrade now button and it will mess up our current keys.

    Thanks in advance

    Concerning

    Stefan

From a technical point of view, it doesn't matter when you upgrade keys (the current key will continue to work). It is more the EULA dictates it. Basically, please make sure that you do not use the keys simultaneously. Usually you would improve the keys at the time - or shortl before - you do the upgrade to vCenter Server and hosts.

    Dear team,

Karim plan to install the new vcenter server software I just want to know we have vcenter server 4 standard license, it will work wil on new server vcenter license 5... Help, please

    Mr. VMware

I mean, you cannot add an esx5 to a vcenter 4, unless you reinstall to v4. But if you upgrade your host to v5, you need to update your license in myvmware.com key.

  • Can not get the eval of vsphere license key

    People,

Successfully, I registered for an assessment of vSphere with operations management and got my license key "VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite 5.7. When I try to apply this key to my vCenter Server I get the error "license error: 5" "Diagnostic message: not found license file ' (see image). I get this error even when you try to apply this key to my 5.1 ESXi server.

(Moderator note: capture with screen a.p. deleted license key!)

I KNOW the license key is not for vsphere, but rather for Operations Manager, but How can I get a trial for vSphere license key? Is it possible to apply the license key that I got to vCenter or should I install the vCenter operations Management unit and apply this license key for this server? The procedure to apply my evaluation license key is NOT FACT CLEAR in all the documentation I've found so far on the assessment of vSphere.

Could someone PLEASE provide a definitive statement on how to use my provided evaluation license key (see picture) and how to obtain and to correctly apply an evaluation of my vCenter Server license?

    vmware_vsphere_eval_license_2013-06-28.png

I would be very grateful for any help.

    Thank you.

Some products require a key for evaluation and others do not. vCenter Server and ESXi running in eval without key mode, but vCOPS requires a key.

You can use the license on any installation that you like, as long as ensure you that each license is used only once. What you need to do to be completely compatible with the EULA - if you want to use the license with your current configuration - is to install the production environment without adding licenses (i.e. run in eval mode), then migrates virtual machines, withdraw the licenses of pre-production systems and add them to the production system. It is not necessary to republish the keys or something like that, the keys remain the same.

  • Add/update a powercli script - independent host license key

Does anyone know how to add/update a license key with powercli script.

I can do OK with LicenseAssignmentManager when connected to vcenter server, but I can't do when assigning a free license key to a stand-alone host as the ServiceInstance.Content.LicenseManager.LicenseAssignmentManager is $null.   (esx5-623860)

    See you soon,.

    Matt.

    Try something like this

    $licMgr = get-view-Id "LicenseManager-ha-license-manager.

    $licMgr.UpdateLicense ("00000-00000-00000-00000-00000", $null)

It will assign a trial license.

If you have a valid license key, replace the document "00000-00000-00000-00000-00000" with your key.
