  Context: I'm in a small community college and some Oracle 10 g of learning set up for now on my home computer. The Department has limited funds and, if I understand correctly, is currently leading MySQL to its databases, largely on the assumption that it would be prohibitive configure Oracle (Oracle executes the college himself, I am told, but I guess there is no way they would give students access to all in this system).

  First and foremost, I would say that licenses/cost issues are better suited for the sales teams of oracle. There may be many things that can be traded/adjusted according to your specific needs / nature of the work and what ever you would hear from here (and any other forum/place/person/site that is not the sale of Oracle) is completely irrelevant. If you have to remember this thing always in mind whenever you ask any related license issue on a public forum.

  If you are ready to use oracle db in order to complete learning only without using it at all for any kind of commercial activity that you can very well download OTN. But do not use it for any kind of commercial properties. Its only for the purpose of learning. Any kind of commercial activity, if any would need to purchase an appropriate license. As you mentioned that Mysql is already used. For this, Oracle offers a version free and commercial, that indeed has some limitations, called Orcle Express Edition (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/index.html). Small can be used in commercial environments, as long as your data limits are within its limits.

  That said, once more, please use commercial Oracle teams to respond to any kind of licensing related issues.

  Our Production site has a vCenter Essentials more and 50 protected workloads SRM.

  Our DR site has a vCenter Essentials.

  One of our workloads protected the site of Prod is the vCenter server.

  What happens with the function defined for vCenter server Prod, when a failover to the DR site certified with vCenter Essentials?

  We will not be able to use features such as vMotion, or all of the features will follow fail it on?

  We understand that we cannot protect running any virtual machine on the site of DR using vCenter Essentials.

  Even if I already know as the product of vSphere and so forth and I am familiar with other virtualization technologies (I will avoid to mention here), I would like to ask about the license costs.

  Currently, we use various stand-alone vSphere servers (sometimes evaluation license and a free license for 5.5), but I would like to have vMotion Metro and subnet rather than in private solutions like 'Veeam' quick migration, etc.

  I went to see the costs... which are generally extremely high, but then I realize that the cost is basic 1 year or 3 years, which means that all VMWare license costs are billed ANNUALLY?

  When you buy the license first, you pay X amount, which includes the license to base 1 or 3 years Support and subscription (SnS).

  After this time, you pouvez renew your SnS for amount Y. For vSphere, one year basic Support is about 10% of the initial report and if I remember correctly.

  But you don't have to renew the SnS, your software will continue to work.

  SnS assets allows you to call VMware and leader in applications for support and very important: you can upgrade your license to the new major version keys when it comes out.

  My company built a new VMware vSphere environment 5.

  All facilities will be new.  We will have 5 ESX host with 2 x processors on each host and 1 vCenter to manage the environment...

  The proposed licenses to buy are the following.

  1 x vCenter license Standard.

  10 x Enterprise CPU licenses.

  Is there also a requirement for the purchase of licenses of ESXi5 server host or vCenter agent licenses on these in order for vCenter manage hosts in vCenter? Or proposed purchases cover everything?

  vCenter agent is included in your license of the company (with a bunch of other stuff like vMotion, etc.).

• vCenter Licensing Question

  We are currently conducting environment vSphere with vCenter Server 5 5 (using the VCSA).  My vSphere, ESXi licensing have the right to upgrade to vSphere 6, but is not my vCenter license.  After further review, we have seen that the SnS support contact us on our vCenter license had expired in January 2015, so we went ahead and got that renewed back support.  My question is, now that we have renewed the support we may update this license vCenter vCenter license 5 6 or we will have to buy a new license of vCenter 6 new?  I checked my VMware Licensing Portal and this shows that we have supported on vCenter 2018 license, but I don't see any option upgrade to this topic.  Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  as far as I know all the licenses that are (or were taken over at the time a new version was released) by an active subscription can be upgraded. When you select "Update license keys" in the drop down menu "I want", you should be able to select and upgrade your vCenter Server license.

  CC of Lightroom and Photoshop CC are included in the subscription 'Special photographers' creative cloud for $10 per month.  There is no "special video" nothing is included in a special issue.  You can add any unique application for another $20 a month, or you can subscribe to a $50 per month for each of them.

  Elements of Prime and Photoshop Elements are both similar to the "CC" or "professional" versions, they are also very different programs.  For example, video projects made in elements of Prime Minister cannot be opened in Prime CC.  They are both marketed by selling you a license to use, not a subscription.  You can usually get the best price in the days before and after Thanksgiving.

  My personal choice is to use the package special photographers to access Lightroom and Photoshop while buying a license for the elements of the Prime Minister for my video editing.  I would prefer to have access to the first CC but, the cost is not justifiable as an amateur about doing a short project each month.  My investment of Thanksgiving sometimes yearly, in elements of Prime Minister is usually around $40.  I never got everything I want to do with the video in need of more expensive software.

• vCenter license migration.

  Hi all

  I'm n process of installing a new server vCenter and DB. Currently I have a vCenter 5.0 with Sql Express. I want to install new 5.5 vCenter as there is a problem with the Windows operating system. Can anyone provide steps on the migration of the current 5.0 vCenter vCenter license to new vCenter 5.5. And not taking a full backup of the current comics and migration to the new full DB will give me same old vCenter inventory?

  You must first migrate the database to db express to Full SQL 2008 DB. The steps are lower in the article.

  -Deploy the new operating system and give the same IP address and host name you use for the old operating system.

  -Take the backup of the more secure base for located.

  -Take SSL certificate to the top of the old C:\ProgramData\VMware\VirtualCenter Server\SSL Server

  -Create the system DSN proper connections on the new host to vCenter server. For more information, see displaying and editing of the database server to vCenter Server installation fails with ODBC and DSN errors (1003928).

  -If the new VirtualCenter server using the same hostname and IP address, SSL certificates can be copied to the new server to eliminate the need to reconnect the ESX and ESXi hosts.

  -To copy the VirtualCenter Server SSL certificates:

  1. Create this folder structure on the new server:

  quick question - Little confussion here on the version of vcenter.  Is there a version of vcenter company?  Or just vcenter license as 'standard vcenter' which then manages your esxi host with essential/standard/enterprise or company more licenses?

  Hi guys, I have a PowerEdge R610 ESXi 5.0 with the license that never expire. I have always used the Vsphere client to manage the host and the virtual machines, but about two weeks ago I tried the vCenter Server 5.0 (the trial version) and this app is wonderful! The tools are amazing, as the models and the clone, I have not tested all the features yet, like HA and saving, but they seems good too.

  Now I'm interesting to get the license of the vCenter server, and my question is, these features of vCenter will be allow to me even if I continue with my ESXi with never expire or I need to get the license of hypervisor vShpere too, to have these things.

  Welcome to the community,

  You cannot use vCenter Server to manage the free edition of hypervisor (except during the evaluation period). In order to manage hosts, you will need to purchase licenses of ESXi (CPU) too. The edition of ESXi, you need depends on the features you want. Please take a look at the pricing and licensing document mentioned by mrksiddiqui for details.

• vSphere vCenter license problem

  Now, I apologize if this has been posted somewhere, but my search fu fails me and I can't seem to find an answer.

  We have a mixed environment at the moment. We have 4 ESXI 3.5 hosts running the "free ESX Server 3i for unlimited processor. We are also raising 4 new hosts vSphere 4. To control this, we have a copy of vCenter 4.0 running on a physical machine. We get down to the end of our assessment of vCenter and my boss finally got the license number to plug into the system. When I do, I get an error about the license not being not able to be changed to vCenter Standard and he needs access to a license server in order to manage hosts.

  Now, I read about how the license server should be part of the installation so I re-run. My options were to change the config of bound modes or uninstall. I also downloaded the license for ESX 3.5 Server [(license

  ESX 3i servers will eventually be migrated away. All machines will be moved to the new host (biggest machines, beefier) and hosts old or recycled, is transformed into a test environment. They are currently in the vCenter system but do not have to be. It would be nice to have just a one-stop look all VM in the environment, but we need the VMotion HA or something with it.

  So, how can I get this license so that we can start testing HA? If I need launch systems vCenter ESXi, I tried and got the same results. But I could have done something wrong suggestions are welcome at this stage. We are in a period of time to get the displaced systems so any help is appreciated.

  You cannot manage ESXi free of vCenter Server 4.0

  So remove them from the vCenter Server.
