VCenter new installation

I'm going on the installation and configuration guide and he wants me to run all these scripts in SQL, as VCDB_mssql. SQL, load_stats_proc_mssql.sql, etc...

Installing vCenter creates these things?  Must I turn?

Yes, the installation will create the necessary jobs related to SQL.  Just make sure you have dbo on the MSDB (to create the rollup jobs) and the VCDB.  These scripts are only really needed if you want to manually create objects of DB/jobs.

  • What will be lost if I perform a new installation of vCenter Server?

    Hello

We tried to upgrade our existing vCenter Server 4 to 5 without success.  The VC Server service is not able to start up.

VMWare support staff has suggested us to perform a new installation.  We would like to know what information will be lost and must be reconfigured to the new vCenter Server?  We are OK to do not keep permeable Performance data.

    Thank you

What you lose depends on what you have in vCenter.

Models, Folders, Cluster configurations, pools of cluster resources, HA/DRS configurations, alarm settings

clusters to store data, storage profiles, profiles of the host, historical events,

If you use the vNetwork distributed switch,

vCenter Distributed switching configurations will not exist in the new facility and

need to be rebuilt before adding the hosts;   You'll probably need to convert those back

the standard vSS on the hosts temporarily before adding them to the new vCenter...

Basically... you lose all configuration except the configuration stored locally on the host computers.

It is essentially the list of virtual machines and the stuff you see in the 'configuration' tab when you click

    a host.

You will need to add the hosts as one of the steps in the installation of the new Victoria Cross.

You will have the virtual machines stored on the host and resource pools that existed

on the host at the time, vC was lost.

However, when you move the hosts in a cluster, the 'Home' resource pools

    will be deleted.

  • going from 3.5 to 4 with a new installation of vcenter Server

    Hey

We want to use a new server and a new installation of virtual center 4 to connect to our existing ESX 3.5 servers. am I right in thinking I can disable DRS and HA, then simply disconnect them from the old server and connect them to the new server? (I'm not worried about performance data at all)

then we will upgrade the tools of virtual machine on virtual machines and then the real hosts go to 4.

    its ok?

    see you soon

Here is the information that I have followed the vCenter of moving to a new server. Worked like a charm. Let me know if you need anything that anyone else.

  • New installation Vsphere and vcenter

This may seem pretty basic but I have not met this before and Vsphere threw me for a loop with the license change.

I have a new installation, I train.  First question is ISCSI available with the license evaluation Mode?  It seems not so much me.

If not then the second issue is the lack of customer is a new domain active directory.   Can I install vcenter not part of a domain, active directory and make all licenses from there?

In my view, that the eval is fully functional. You must enable initiator iSCSI under storage adapters.

vCenter didn't need to be a member of the domain, and also in vsphere there is no license server as with 3.5

  • Upgrade or new installation 5.0-> 5.5

    Hi all

We expect an improvement in our environment vSphere/UCS/SRM 5.0 to 5.5.

There is a general link for 5.x, which is almost the same, but for 5. versions of x .

Deployment modules associated with vCenter as Auto, collector bucket etc. can be improved with vCenter. You will have to worry about only the most important.

In any case, you must start with UCS. still, it is not disruptive. Make sure you have checked all connections before proceeding. If the failover does not occur at each stage (i.e. NIC FIS) you will find yourself in trouble and also the environment will go down.

  • vSphere vCenter account Installation Service

    Hi all

I try a new installation of vCenter and encounter a problem around the service accounts.

The "use account system;" the 'User name' field is grayed out when you try to install it and I can't select a different Service account.

This happens on vSphere 4.1 and 4.0 Update 1.

    Any suggestion is appreciated.

    Concerning

    Dave

    Hello

Installing vCenter Server using a specific service account, you must log on to the server by using the account that you use to run services vCenter.

The vCenter Server Setup does not select a specific service account when you perform the installation.

Additionally, make sure that the account that you use to install vCenter Server (service account) has rights of a local administrator on the server.

I have attached a screenshot where you can see that I am using the account "vmware.sql".  I connect to the server using this account, and that have administrative rights on this server.

    Best wishes / Saludos

  • vCenter/vSphere installation Questions

I apologize if this is the wrong community asking these questions in. I thought that the community of vSphere to be the most appropriate, but there is no category generic vSphere. The General category of vCenter Server was appropriate.

Our company is buying some matΘriel for vSphere 4. The cost to buy the Essentials most of vSphere bundle 4 we have budgeted ($5000) but I'm sure I can convince our Exec team to approve the purchase of vSphere 4 Advanced Acceleration Kit ($17000) once I showed them vMotion Live Migration and fault tolerance. That being said, I'm still new to vmWare and need a little advice products. Here are some questions I have.

    (1) my plan is to have the three physical hosts start their ESX/ESXi installation off our iSCSI SAN to avoid having to have local storage on each server. It presents an acceptable practice or if this is not preferred? Is there any loss of performance when the servers are running? Your advice here would be greatly appreciated.

    (2) I understand that I can choose between ESX and ESXi in my installation. I was under the assumption that ESXi is more than a low-end product (so the free version) however I read on VMware.com ESXi is the product preferred for new installations and ESX is available for legacy add-on products. Is this correct? Should I go with ESXi for three servers?

    (3) where vCenter Server move? It works on one of my three physical servers or need an additional server. I have no experience with vCenter Server, so I have no idea on this one.

    (4) would it be appropriate to install local disks on each server for the paging or swap file?

    (5) I'll buy Veeam Backup & Replication for backup. Does make a difference on the weather, I chose ESX or ESXi?

Thank you for all your advice.

You're right - if vcenter is down FT stops - but isn't that a problem is the first defective virtual machine at the same time.

If you find this or any other answer useful please consider awarding points marking the answer correct or useful

  • ESXi 3.5 to 4, issue of... new installation or upgrade path?

    Hello

I have a test ESXi 3.5 server that contains 3 VM.  It's all local storage.  I don't have a vCenter.

What is the best way to upgrade?

    (1) perform a real upgrade to theVMware ESXi 4.0 (upgrade ZIP) and VMware vSphere Host Update Utility and customer.

    (2) perform a clean installation of ESXi 4.

I would prefer to use (2), but first: a clean install of will wipe away the existing VMFS partition where the virtual machine of resident?

    Thank you!

A new installation will wipe existing VMFS data warehouses so you'll want to take the path of upgrading.  http://www.vm-help.com/esx40i/ESXi40_upgrade_without_virtualcenter.php - Note that you should be able to get a direct download to the client vSphere instead of having to extract, upgrade the upgrade zip file.

  • Email records retrieved from a drive Thunderbird crashed. You want to import into my new installation.

Tried to copy/paste the files recovered in profiles/Mail/Local folders in my new installation, but without success. I can't find an option to import messages from a folder. Any ideas? Thank you!

Re: tried to copy/paste the files recovered

Are you sure you are copy/paste the correct data?
Emails are stored in files mbox, no records.
MBOX files don't have any extension.

As an example, in the image below, it states:

    • Inbox (mbox file containing the e-mail)
    • Inbox.MSF (indexing file - no emails)
    • Inbox.SBD (if created subfolders of Inbox. This folder contains more than mbox and indexing of files)

    Note:
Thunderbird should be closed when copy paste or do anything in profile files.

There is also an add-on which is pretty good.
    Download downloads folder or desktop.
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Thunderbird/addon/ImportExportTools/

    Install:
Tools > Addons or Menu icon > Addons
Click the gear icon and select "install the addon from file".
Locate the downloaded xpi file and click Open
You may have to restart Thunderbird.

    Right click on "local folders".
Select "Importexporttool" > "import a mbox file".
Select: "import directly one or more mbox files" and click OK
Find the mbox files, and then click Open.

  • Link new installation of thunderbird with the old profile.

I created a new profile and stored on an external drive, there is a certain messages, I just had to reinstall win7 and do not know how to link a new installation of thunderbird with my old profile. Seems fair to get a host of issues that do nothing.

Look at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_how-to-find-your-profile and then go to the directory corresponding to your external drive to find your old * *.default file.
Copy your old profile to the directory where your current profile is stored.
See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles to switch to your old GOLD "profiles.ini" edit profile to change the 'path' in the name of your old profile.
    Restart Thunderbird.

  • Firefox opens, then is unresponsive. Cannot reset. New installation doesn't fix it. Mac OS x

I was browsing the internet with Firefox when it froze, so I force quit. I open it, but immediately, it freezes / does the thing of mouse wheel that turns indefinitely, so I have to force quit it again.

I tried restarting and closing of my Mac. Then, I tried to reset Firefox, but it does not. I tried Safe Mode, but it's always immediately the cursor of the spinning wheel. So I tried to do a fresh reinstall several times. But it still keeps having the same problem.

    Help!

Ed. I don't think it could be a problem with my Add ons, because I used the same for years and never had this problem.

One thing I've changed a few days ago is usually I leave my Firefox history store things for centuries, but I thought I'd release RAM by changing these settings. I can't remember which, however, I changed the settings may have changed something then it deletes history and and something else after the closure of each session.

It seems that I found a solution to my problem!

I went in "name of user/Library/Application Support /...» "and deleted the folder of Firefox with the settings of the profile, as it seemed to be the settings I changed what triggered the problem beforehand.

I then with the sacking of the application and downloads of .dmg and remake a new installation. Firefox is now open and work normally for me. (However, I do not know why change my history in the first place settings, causing the problem.)

Please NOTE: If someone else tries this, if you delete the folder, you will lose all your saved bookmarks. There is probably a folder in profiles that you can copy and save to preserve your bookmarks, but I don't know who it is.

  • New installation of Xubuntu w / Firefox on my PC. Everything works VERY slowly, even typing and cursor movement. Is - fixable?

With this new installation of Xubuntu (which is supposed to be quick enough) with Firefox included, all transactions processed through the browser are incredibly slow: typing, go to other pages or Web sites; move the cursor is painfully slow, and sticky with time delayed reaction and excessive results. I have the maximum encryption and security; This could be the problem? Note: I noticed that type in this window is normal...? E-mail is correct, also.

    Thank you very much
    Bob

Glad your problem is solved itself, and I see that you have also your problem another (1012424/questions/1012424). Don't forget to update Firefox, it should be 31 Firefox now or if Xubuntu is a bit behind perhaps still Fx30 but certainly not Fx28.

Be aware that you will see big changes in Firefox

    You mentioned

why would they include an unsupported version of Firefox in the same package with the newest version of an operating system?

Ubuntu and Xubuntu major versions come out every six months. Firefox updates every six weeks. Probably the first thing to do after you have installed a new version of X / Ubuntu is updated the software, also immediately before the upgrade to the next Xubuntu.

    Versions of Firefox & Ubuntu/Xubuntu

I use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS for most. 14.04 is also LTS, so you have to stay on that instead of update in due course to 14.10

I use their distro Canon of construction of Firefox since their deposit of Aurora. Who is behind Mozilla versions datewise (I also installed mozilla versions), but it uses the package manager, so no need for manual updates of Firefox. You probably don't want or need to do that, but if you do not want to install this as a browser extra is available for 12.04 & 14.04 of

Synaptic (graphical APT front-end server) package manager is therefore longer in default distributions of Ubuntu/Xubuntu, you could add Synaptic (included in gDebi in Xubuntu 12.04) otherwise use the "Software Center" to ensure that everything is kept up-to-date

I know that some earlier versions of Ubuntu to (less LTS versions) the canonical versions of Firefox did not update, but I expect the center of software or package manager to be able to keep Firefox reasonably aware and do not drop by more than one version.

  • My PC crashed. Restored on a new record and a new installation of FireFox. I can still access all the files. How do I take the old bookmarks if there is no backup?

My PC crashed. Restored on a new record and a new installation of FireFox. I can still access all the files on the old drive. How do I take the old bookmarks if no backup exists, or has been completed? Does not save bookmarks of FireFox auto? If, then what is the file name and where is normally stored by FireFox?

In fact, it can be easier...

If you have the old drive connected as, say, drive E, go to:

    E:\Users\username

Then click in the address bar and paste it after this and press ENTER to open it:

    \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Normally, you have only one file, which has a random string followed by "default." In this case, click on this file and find the subfolder bookmarkbackups.

If you find multiple profile folders, look inside to find the most recently updated backups.

To restore the backup files, see: restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer

  • Fixed a crash issue repeated with a new installation of Firefox on Windows 8.1 28

It is not so much a question as a contribution to the solution.

On a new computer running Windows 8.1 a new installation of Firefox 28 has been repeatedly crash or freeze ("no response"). Loading pages can be slow and scrolling in staircase. Totally unusable, especially after playing content with Shockwave.

Although I had not installed the plug-ins outside Shockwave and Adobe Acrobat, I have had a look and was surprised to see that I had never asked. I disabled those I don't think I need:
    Intel's Identity Protection technology
    Photo Gallery
WildTangent Games App alarm presence V2.

Since these disabling Firefox works well. But I was forced to use another browser for a week until you find the time to research the problem.

Why are these called not - for and of course (at least one) annoying plugins installed by default? It does not have any good Firefox!

Plugins are not included in the Firefox download, because Mozilla is not allowed to distribute. Firefox automatically detects the plugins on your system through a number of methods, so it was a good idea to revisit and disable those you don't need. I have really no idea whence the special ones.

  • How to perform a new installation while keeping the book mark, addons, etc.?

I need to perform a new installation and I would like to keep my personal information, bookmarks, etc.. I know these info are stored separately and want to use it in the new facility. How can I do?

Your personal data are stored in your profile. This folder is normally left intact when uninstalling Firefox, unless you check the option 'remove my Firefox personal data '.

Also note that most of the problems with Firefox are contained in the profile folder. You can get a fresh start while maintaining things like Favorites and passwords resetting Firefox.
