VCloud 1.5 installation dependency (RabbitMQ)

I try to get vcd installed 1.5 - installation guide specific you first need to install rabbitMQ, and I'm stuck.

Try to install the rpms for rabbitmq he gives and error that seem very closed.  He says that something is not install, what clearly is installed.  (erlang)

It is an attempt to install on RedHat 5 as required for VCD supported OS (but rabbit MQ suggests using only not RedHat)...

[root@server tmp] # rpm - ivf rabbitmq-Server - 2.6.1 - 1.noarch.rpm

RabbitMQ is only necessary if you want to use notifications or the blocking features the product extensions. By default, these two features are disabled. There is also no need for the installation of RabbitMQ are on the same system as the vCD software (because it communicates over the network with it), so if it's easier to install RabbitMQ on another type of system (Ubuntu, CentOS) that can be done.

  • White (gray) vcloud Director portal after installation

    Hi all

I lived the installation guide and saw blog various positions on the vcloud Director 5.1 and all this installation process seems simple enough for me.  The problem is that I keep getting stuck in the same game in all 3 facilities I've tried so far in a test environment.  Whenever I have the installation and try to go for the first time the Installer Wizard url (https://IP-of-vcd-server=http-nic) it just displays a gray screen... no text, no icons, nothing!

I read some posts on this subject and they got never really at the bottom of it in the comments, so I hope that someone, somewhere had this problem too and can point me in the right direction as to what could be the problem?

    I'm under RHEL 6.3 x 64 with firewall disabled, 2 network cards, installed certificates (self-signed) and vcloud Director 5.1.2 - 1068441.

DB is MS SQL 2008 running on a server separate from the DB

I hope someone is able to help

Can you delete and recreate your database?  I know it's a new facility, but it seems that the DB was partially initialized once and then reused with this installation later.

This means that the db, create a new one with the same name and account to connect, re - run the script configure once, and then restart the services.  Please make sure that there is only vCloud Director for installation at the start, as always, we can add cells later via a different set of steps.

The errors are on the decryption of the files, which means that some of the generated ID keys do not seem to correspond to the local operating system files.

  • vCloud transfer server storage

I am trying redhat vCloud 5.1on installation and I followed the installation guide. But at the next section:

    vCloud transfer server storage

To provide storage temporary for uploads and downloads, a NFS or another volume of shared storage must be accessible to all the servers in a vCloud Director

cluster. This volume must have permissions writable by root. Each host must turn up the volume in $VCLOUD_HOME / / data transfer, usually/opt/vmware/vcloud-director/data/transfer. Uploads and downloads are the storage for a few hours a day. Pictures transferred

can be large, so allow at least several hundred gigabytes to this volume.

I'm bit confused about the wording, I guess that saying I need an NFS volume to go up to my cell vCloud. Future vCloud cells that I add to this group will have to mount this volume share the same NFS mount point?

The host ESXi has access to this volume NFS as in the guide there is no 'a NFS or another volume of shared storage must be accessible to all the servers in a vCloud Director ' or it means just cells vcloud?

If I only plan to have a vCloud cell do I need an NFS Volume or could just use local storage?

I'm bit confused about the wording, I guess that saying I need an NFS volume to go up to my cell vCloud. Future vCloud cells that I add to this group will have to mount this volume share the same NFS mount point?

-Yes, this "transfer file" is somewhat like a shared drive between all THE cells of vCloud Director to a given instgallation.

The host ESXi has access to this volume NFS as in the guide there is no 'a NFS or another volume of shared storage must be accessible to all the servers in a vCloud Director ' or it means just cells vcloud?

-Yes... only the cells... ESXi does not mount this at all.

If I only plan to have a vCloud cell do I need an NFS Volume or could just use local storage?

-You can use the local storage, but if you want a second cell to fail on... it'll be a bit of a pain to install later.  I recommend this for a test environment.

    Hello:

Here are my answers to your questions...

    • What kind of RAM corresponds to my laptop? (HP Support Assistant sowftware it says 4 GB 2 other SODIMM Slots 1067 Mhz Micron) A: you have 2 x 4 GB PC3-10600 memory, since you have a model dv3-23xx.
    • I think I hv 2 slots, is better to buy 2 x 4 GB or 1 x 8, or whatever? A: you have 2 slots, and yes it's not serious. The max RAM per slot is 4 GB.  8 GB in a slot will not work.
    • On the description on HP Forum on my laptop it says max 8 gb, which would be ok if I install 16 gb (2 x 8 GB)? R: NO.
    • Is it easy to install the RAM? What is the risk? (I know about PC its just plug 'n play). R: Please read Chapter 4 of the repair on the link below. Ease of installation depends on your own ability. After reading the section on removing the memory and replace, you can decide for yourself how it's going to be easy.  Properly installed compatible memory is just plug and play.

  • Space used on the drive.

Due to a major problem of constant gel on my PC n ° 1, I decided to close after uploading all my files and I then uninstalled all applications except windows those. Even after defragmentation and disk clean up I was amazed to see that there are still some 46 GB of disk hard used. There are no bad sectors, and I would like to know what takes up space as my new PC n ° 3 with virtually identical spec uses only about 12 GB with the same Windows XP Pro SP3. Until I finally purge all this on my hard drive and maybe to reinstall programs, someone at - it ideas on what is all this space, as all the checks I did throw not clear on that?

    Hello-

My hard drive is 55.8 GB.  C:\Windows\Installer is 49.5 GB.  I currently have 200 MB left on my hard drive.  How can I clean the folder install and not to ruin Windows or Office?

    Thank you!

You should always start a new thread and not the Piggy-Back on someone else, especially one who is a month and a half.

    However...

The installation directory is not supposed to become great, but sometimes the installation files (which are normally used to uninstall whatever it was that was installed) are deleted when the installation fails.  If you sort files in the C:\Windows\Installer depending on the size, you'll probably see a bunch of files with identical sizes.

For maximum safety, make an image of your hard drive before you do the following.  The procedure described below must be sure... but then again, the C:\Windows\Installer directory wasn't supposed to fill up with junk, either.

    1. download the Windows Installer Cleanup from here utility:

    http://MajorGeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html

    2. run the downloaded executable to install the cleanup utility (note that Microsoft has removed this utility because of potential problems - read the instructions here:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301)

    3. in an account that has administrator privileges.

    4. open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)

    5. type the following command and press ENTER after each line

    CD /d "%programfiles%\Windows Install Cleanup.

    Msizap G!

This command deletes the "orphaned" Installer files  For more information about the msizap and its syntax, seehttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370523%28VS.85%29.aspx

  • Security roles and workflow management groups

    People,

There is a section on Workflow management groups and security roles in vCloud Request Manager Installation and Configuration Guide - Guide of Directors Chapter 5 and 6. I have difficulty working on the relationship between the two settings.

My first question is around the goal of the WM default checkbox that the specific guide is used to set the default user workflow management group.

What would a never used default WM? I mean, what would he ever substitute the other workflow management groups that you define.

In addition, in the guide, it say cloud Blueprint Admin and Asset Manager security role is a combination of the Admin of Blueprint of cloud and the Asset Manager. Is cloud Blueprint Admin & Asset Manager being the two groups of workflow management, reasonable to assume that a security role is composed of workflow management groups?

And when I select agent, I do not see a cloud Blueprint Admin and Asset Manager security role listed?

Finally, is there a way to determine the exact permissions that contains a workflow management group/security role?

    Thank you

    Cormac

The Group Management (WM) default workflow is largely an artifact of vSM based vRM.

VSM, a group of WM is a collection of agents used to apply security and route of tasks, among other responsibilities. (For the purpose of vRM, an agent can defined as users who have access to the vRM admin interface).

vRM mainly use WM groups as a way to deliver relevant communications to users based on their responsibilities for example vCD Admins, Asset Managers etc. vRM does not require other functions related to WM groups.

For functional reasons, vSM requires that each officer with access to the capabilities of WM belong at least a WM group. In addition, at least one of these groups must be designated the default WM for this officer group. These functional reasons are not immediately relevant to the specific use of vRM rest however case the constraint. Suffice to say for vRM, every WM user must have a WM group by default even if this information must never be used.

Roles and groups are separate entities. A role defines a set of privileges to access a particular functional area of the admin interface for example a role WM sets permissions to interact with the workflow. of the roles of management (CM) configuration sets permissions to review and modify records in the repository of vRM.

A special role of WM can be associated with one or more groups WM. When this WM role is assigned to a user, that user inherits groups associated with this role, WM allowing to simplify the administration of groups. An individual user can also have other WM assigned groups to them directly, complementary to those inherited from their role of WM.

At an abstract level, vRM defines three types of users of the admin interface:

    1 vCD Admins

    2. plan Admins

    3. managers

However, the security of MSM model requires that each individual user must be implemented with several components. By default, vRM sets a "Asset Managers" WM Group of what assets all managers must belong. However, WM groups cannot be used to give access to the features as well, so a separate from the "Asset Managers" WM role is obliged to grant access to these features asset managers. By default, the role of "Asset Manager" WM is associated with the "Asset Managers" group such that any user who is assigned the role automatically belongs to the Group also. There is also a separate 'Asset Managers' CM role that gives asset managers they need to the repository vRM for example the possibility to add new licenses for software products.

This model of definitions is repeated for 3 personas above with a group and several roles defined for each. When an administrator assigns a user to one of these characters they should assign the groups and roles appropriate according to the documentation. They should not need to be concerned by the distinctions between each component.

The role of the "Plan Director Admin and Asset Manager" reflects that a user may need to be asset manager and a Director of Blueprint. Because a user can have a role to the maximum by functional area, vRM provides a compound that provides two sets of permissions. However, a user can belong to several groups WM, so it is never necessary to provide a composite group.

The role of composite is there; just maybe not where you expect to find. Blueprint Admins do not need to access WM, so there is not a 'Blueprint' Admin or a composite WM role. Blueprint Admins do need access to configuration management so it's an "Admin blueprint" and a role of CM composite.

The details of the user screen provides:

    • a summary of all groups to which a user belongs

    • provides a 'Détails' button to drill down on each role assigned to the user to inspect the permissions granted by this particular role

You must be a vCD Admin to see areas of the screen.

  • Install CS5 using Adobe AIR?

I had a big problem with the CS5 Installer (PDapp.exe). When it is run as part of an attempt to install or uninstall Creative Suite 5 it runs for a few seconds and then disappears without a trace. It is a difficult problem: put it this way, I spent more than 4.5 hours to talk to the people of Adobe in India, and it is grown twice without a solution!

If I understand correctly, CS5 basically uses its own installation software, rather than rely on the standard windows installer of bog (I don't have a problem with Lightroom or Acrobat, I use windows install).

My finger of suspicion falls on Adobe AIR because I have a similar problem with a piece of software NETGEAR that uses Adobe AIR: it runs, and then disappears without a trace.

So my question is: the CS5 Installer depends on Adobe Air?

Yes, he does. It uses its JavaScript for dependency checking and the Flash part to display panels.

    Hello OrDave,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with Firefox 12.0 on Ubuntu, but I don't think that there is much to do since Adobe has decided to abandon the support for Linux platforms and soon, we will have to use alternatives such as Gnash and Lightspark opensource. You might want to try removing it from the software center and perhaps reinstall it from the Adobe Web site (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/).
If you need additional support, thanks for posting for help on the Ubuntu forums as they will be able to help you still more. You can also join the Ubuntu IRC or ask for help at askubuntu.com.

Thank you for your patience and for your interest in Mozilla Firefox and I wish you luck in resolving this issue. Please mark my answer as a solution if it was helpful and have a great day!

  • VMware vCloud Director with the NSX Manager installation process.

    Hello world

I recently planned to deploy VMware vCloud Director (so NSX Manager will be deployed, as part of the process) on an existing environment (existing virtual machines running, virtual switches,...).

Customers use their virtual machines because they are in production.

I was wondering if the deployment / installation of NSX Manager would cause no downtime or disturb the workflows running or even break the VM interconnections?

    Thanks in advance,

    Lawrence B.

I looked at many tutorials, and indeed nothing should happen so that deploy a controller or something else. My concerns were about this "else", as the virtual switches and so on. I guess that the NSX will show existing resources such as the existing virtual switches (and so forth) already configured with vCenter?

What vCloud Director does is interact with NSX via API.  Calls are exclusive to VXLAN (vdnscope-# resources in the API) and demand to deploy or update an edge.  vCD is not 'show' resources discovered by NSX.  You configure NSX and vCD makes an API call and said ' I want a Board connected to the port groups A and B "or"I want a new vWire of this VXLAN instance.

Is there a document with the "best practices" for the deployment of vCD?

Yes: VMware vCloud Architecture Toolkit: Cloud Computing reference Architecture | United States

The meddle with existing resources, must have dedicated resources for the vCD vendor (aka the cluster in vCenter).  It is better to have that then using a pool of resources to a cluster where neighbour noisy problems can arise.  vCAT above might exceed a lot of that when you read it.
