vertical alignment of text in the text box

Is this possible?

bingandham,

Not really, but you can try the opposite, unless you find silly.

You can create a colorful eventually (possibly rounded) rectangle and use the path tool to have the text inside, with some steps.

Or you can create text and create a (possibly rounded) rectangle behind him, or have a predetermined size by adjusting the type (text).

My guess is that the latter can meet your needs. If so, you can:

(1) with the normal Type tool create the text as a direct Type; You can choose to focus or option justify options in the window > palette paragraph (delivered with the palette of characters when you set the font and size);

(2) in the window > appearance Panel flyout, click Add a new fill, then drag characters that fill down below in the main appearance palette and click on it to have selected it. It is highlighted;

(3) set the desired color, you can use the window > palette of colors or anything else;

(4) effect > convert to shape > Rectangle (or a rounded Rectangle), then either:

4 (a) absolute-click and set the size of the predetermined label, or:

4 (b) click Relative and set the width and height to be added to the direct Type. Try different values in the preview to see how it works.

This will give you the text as a direct Type, so you can modify it (you can add text, lines still more), and it will stay centered on the bottom. If you choose 4 a), you must keep the text inside, adjusting the font size, as appropriate; If you choose 4 b), the label/background fits the text.

If you want just an invisible rectangle behind the text, 3) you can adjust the opacity to 0 (in the transparency palette), and if you need the box for positioning or something, you can either

(A) select and object > decompose the appearance to get a group with direct Type and the box as a rectangle, or

(B) false box, just edit > Preferences > General > use limits preview; After that, you can reset to normal.

  • File IDML opening with vertical alignment of text in the box set "Center".

    I got a batch of files, asking me to review. They were saved as files CC as well as .idml. I have used .idml since the sender used plugins files that are not included in the package. Using the .idml, I do not get the warning about the missing plugins. However, when I open the idml files that all text boxes are the vertical value Center instead of top. Very tedious. CC files opened correctly (with the exception of the warning about the missing plugins).

    Is it possible to open the idmls and get the vertical alignment to open as "top"? Or should I use the CC files and ignore the warning on the plugins?

    Thank you!

    Tim

    Guess I'm stuck with opening the idml docs and manually change each vertical alignment of text box.

    With Find\Change you can:

    Find/replace > object tab

    Tye: Blocks of text

    Change object Format: click on specify the attributes to modify > text frame general Options > vertical Justification > Align > Top

    Then find and change or change all

  • Text to Center vertically in a text box

    I am trying to find a way to center the text vertically within a text box. So far, I was able to apply CSS to this text box by setting a class name and bind an external css file with different styles.

    Does anyone have any suggestions on a CSS property that works here, or perhaps another method that I have not discovered?

    I'll show you how to add a class on a screenshot in a previous post. Add that to all the text boxes you want on.

    Then just call him.

    SYM. $(".) ClassName"). VerticalAlign();

    Remember it must make one. front on the class name so if the class has been called "TextVert" you should have like

    SYM $(".) TextVert") .verticalAlign ();

  • alignment of text box problem

    Whenever I create a new text box in an exsiting file, the text in a text box moves. the text alighment touches EG: align at the top of the text box, middle or low. but whenever I move the text box, the text moves with inside. I've disabled all text wraps and makes TIC TACS remove any clothing in the hidden layers (even if this is not checked) nothing changes, the text always moves inside the box. I'm sure that it's not supposed to happen, especially if I checked so that it can be aligned to the center of the text box.

    How do you change the vertical alignment of the text in a text field. By default seems to be centered.

    Have a large field of observations.  Allow multiple lines works well, but to be Top vertical alignment.

    Have seen some discussion and at least one of the possible solutions, but can't make it work as I can't find the same items in the described pallets.

    Thank you

    Turn on the paragraph palette by selecting it in the Windows menu. Then click on the object that you want to manipulate and on this palette paragraph are alignment icons that allow you to set the text to start at th etop of the field instead of in the middle.

    Hope that helps

  • How vertical align a text from his block of text?

    I managed to create a TextFrame with text inside content.

    var textFrame = page.textFrames.add();
    textFrame.geometricBounds = [10, 10, 100, 60];
    textFrame.contents = "23";
    textFrame.fillColor = bgColor21;
    var text = lineNameTextFrame.texts.item(0);
    text.appliedFont = app.fonts.item("Ubuntu");
    text.fontStyle = "Bold";
    text.pointSize = 60;
    text.fillColor = white;
    text.justification = Justification.centerAlign;
    text.alignToBaseline = false;

    Text is centered horizontally using Jusitification.centerAlign, but I can't find in the documentation or debug property to Center vertically.

    However, in the InDesign UI, there is a feature:

    indesign.PNG

    Does anyone know what size of text I need to put?

    Thank you

    Try this,

    var textFrame = page.textFrames.add();
    textFrame.geometricBounds = [10, 10, 100, 60];
    textFrame.contents = "23";
    textFrame.textFramePreferences.verticalJustification = VerticalJustification.CENTER_ALIGN;

  • How to set the vertical alignment of text in a table style

    I hope I'm missing something easy. I know how vertically and horizontally align text in a table cell.

    What I would do, is to be able to do as well in a style - section, object or character, it doesn't matter - so I don't have to do it manually to each cell in a table. I can't figure out how to put this in a style. Is it possible to do this?

    Thank you

    Marcy

    You create a cell Style. In a cell Style, you can set the vertical Justification on the text panel.

  • How to change the default alignment of text in the cells in a table on the demand for numbers?

    I'm new to Mac. I own a MacBook pro MF839HN/A and currently using the 3.6.2 release NUMBERS (2577). I want to know if I can change the default alignment of text in the cell in a table of NUMBERS application? Also, when I select all the cells in a table to change their alignment, I can only change the horizontal alignment of the text and not the vertical alignment. To change the vertical alignment of the text in a cell, I have to select them individually. Help me with two questions.

    The only way I know is to create a table that is set up as you like, then save the empty document as a template customized by using the menu item "file > save as template:

  • Try to center the text in a text box

    I just upgraded to InDesign CS2 to CS4. I'm trying to center the text vertically within a text box. I remember in CS2 that there are three different buttons, one that would Center it at the top, one that would Center the text in the middle and one on the bottom.

    If anyone knows where these buttons is gone, it is much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Ah! There they are... on the control panel (when the frame is selected with the tool collection... rather than having a direct insertion point). They are pretty far to the right. If your screen size is such that not all features to adapt, they can get cut.

  • Lose the vertical alignment of the table during the conversion of the ditamap to book

    FrameMaker Version: 12.0.4.445 (later part of TCS5)

    1. I have a project structured, where several XML files have been grouped in a ditamap.
    2. For one of the XML files, I have a table, where I need to set the cell Vertical alignment of cells in the MIDDLE.
    3. So using Paragraph Designer > table cell, I have change the entries in the top in the Middle (the default values have been Top).
    4. With the ditamap pane selected, I'll then menu file > > Save Ditamap under
    5. I save ditamap as ' book with fm components 12.0 (* .book) "file type.
    6. In the resulting book, the XML files are now. FM files.

    However, at this point, when I open the. File of FM which has the table, the cell styles back to the TOP.

    I searched high and low for a similar problem. It's look like a bug to me, but can someone confirm?

    Thank you

    No, this is not a bug by itself. I bet that the alignment is lost before you generate the book. After you set the alignment and saving and closing the file... reopen and see if the alignment is still there... I bet it's gone. As a general rule, you cannot apply put in shape or properties to objects (elements) in a DITA file. This applies to font and paragraph properties as well as table set in shape and other types of development in the form. All you can do is create items and set attributes. Any parameter properties will usually be lost on file save.

    You would probably need to have a 'process of publication' (script any) you run your generated book and chapter files that would scan for an attribute that shows some properties must be set on the table. The @outputclass attribute is typically used for this kind of thing. I'm not aware of what anyone in default FrameMaker DITA, who put in place to manage this type of formatting of the tables.

    If this formatting that you try to apply is consistent for the whole table, it is possible that you will be able to do this by creating a new table format that has this set of default formatting. When you insert a table in a subject, the table format is assigned to the tgroup/@outputclass attribute and this is the form that is used when rendering the table. Just create a new table in the structured application model and put in place this format to have the properties you want. Then, when you insert the table, be sure to select this format. It can be hard to set this up, but it * should * work.

    However, if this does not work, or you need more refined formatting applied to the parts of the table, I produce a tool called DITA-FMx, which offers extended DITA creation and publication of the options for FrameMaker. It offers features that allow this type of table set shaped to be applied by setting the attribute @outputclass to a specific value on the line or cell. You can get more information on DITA-FMx here...

  • Vertically align multiple objects?

    For a brochure, I created a design of base consisting of a header, a continuous line and a text block containing a few paragraphs. To the right, I've created a spot for support information, which has a dashed line aligned vertically to the top of the page the paragraphs of text to the left (showing this alignment with a green line).

    Because the text can vary in length (I use vertical AutoSize under Options of text block), I'd give all this content to Center vertically on each page. The included Golden rectangles represent approximately an equal vertical size. If the header is increased to three lines (this block of text is anchored to the bottom) or if the text below gets more long/plus short (this text frame is anchored at the top).

    I also want to keep the vertical alignment of the text to the left starting point and the dotted line + the content to the right (indicated by the green line).

    I did a lot of research on this community discussion, as thus carried out several searches on Google and found only a few very basic information about groups and alignment and distribution. Can someone point me in the right direction?

    indesign.png

    Second example (showing more text all in vertical alignment, as well as the vertical lock point with dotted supporting content to the right):

    varying-size.png

    Hello

    I'm not sure you really need of automatic sizing on your block of text - if you make the text throughout the depth of the frame and then just Center your content it contains.

    With regard to the supporting content goes, I would like to group the items and then anchor text in your main text block. Then, it moves upward and down according to the amount of text you have. It doesn't matter that he will sit outside the main text frame.

    Kind regards

  • The cursor position is centered vertically in the multiline text box

    When I insert a text field, resize the height so that it can accommodate several lines of text and select "Allow multiple lines", the cursor is always left-aligned, centered vertically in the text box when opened in Acrobat.

    Is there a way to force the cursor to appear in the upper left corner, enter text to display from the top of the text, rather than in the middle box?

    Hello

    You can set the alignment of the text (vertical and horizontal) in the font/palette tab.

    If you do not see in your workspace, you can select it from the Windows menu in designer LC or SHIFT + F5.

    Good luck

    PS note that you can change the appearance of the legend and the value of the object, together or separately. This applies to the style of the police as well as paragraph settings.
