  Can anyone advise on a different print driver that will allow me to print size on the 1018 A7 envelopes?  I tried c deskjet 450 and 990, but neither would work.  Trying to send Christmas cards, but I have a problem with the envelopes of odd sizes.

  On the Laserjet 1018 product specifications are as follows:

  

  The best solution would be to try media custom sizes and use the exact size of the envelope of the A7, which is 5 1/4 in. x 7 1/4 in.. To set a custom size, go to your printer - made driver right click on the printer - click Printer Preferences - click the paper/quality tab - click custom - set your dimensions.

• HP Laserjet 1018: Printer light blinks 15 times but does not print

  I have 2 printers, my work horse HP laser jet and a Brother Multi printer/scanner/fax etc. Both printers work correctly when connected (usb to LJ1018 connection) or wireless (Brother MFC) to my notebook running windows 7 lite.

  My desktop HP compaq core 2 duo machine is connected to two printers with the help of a brother network cable and a usb cable for the LJ1018 but I decided to connect the brother wireless to my network, because it allowed me to use my netbook without having to plug in a usb or network cable. I also created my office to connect wireless to the brother and it works fine, but now I find that I can not use the LJ1018 that I think only has a usb cable connection. Although the computer says the printer is connected it is flashing the light several times - about 15 but does not print anything. I tried to reinstall the USB driver but this makes no difference. One thought I have is that Windows XP cannot deal with a wireless connection, but also a connection usb, if yes can I have go back to wired connections?

  I went back recently for my computer to factory settings.

  I had no problem with my printer before.

  After installation of my printer it printed the page test perfectly - but after that nothing has printed.

  I get a message saying computer does not.  Can anyone help?

• Windows 7 64-bit incompatible with HP laserjet 1018?

  Update from Vista to Windows 7 64 bit. My HP laserjet 1018 printer has worked for awhile, but no longer works. When you print, nothing happens, except that you can see in the job printer status window that the job was created, but I disappears in a second or two. I downloaded the latest HP driver, does not help. I tried to uninstall the previous driver, but he said something as unexpected... can't do. Help, please! I need the printer!

• HP LaserJet 1018 on Windows 7 / 32 bit: printer will not print

  My HP LaserJet 1018, running off my Acer laptop with Windows 7 Pro 32 bit, stopped working without known reason.

  I did the following to try to resolve the problem:

  * Check the cables and connections. These work, I think. Shoes printer green light.

  * I deleted the spoooler of local print.

  * I tried the troubleshooting feature.

  * I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer with the HP disk.

  * I rebooted the computer and the printer several times.

  * I have updated the latest version of the software on the HP site.

  None of the above seems to work.

  When I open a document and select print, it says that the printer is ready (Green Tick).

  However, it does not print even if the printer is connected and the green light on the printer itself is a steady green.

  When I check the icon of the printer on the bottom of my screen, it says that there are no print jobs in the queue.

  My last resort is now going through a new cable or call a computer scientist on the spot. I work for myself and really don't want to bear the cost.

  Any suggestions? Advice?

  Thanks a lot 8lives for getting back to me.

  I managed to solve the problem in the last hour or two.

  That's what I did:

  * Cable USB purchased and attached

  * In the Windows devices and printers, I chose to remove the HP printer

  In the programs I uninstalled a PDF printer at random, I found

  In programs, I uninstalled the HP printer and enabled the computer restarts

  To restart the computer, the computer recognized and installed an HP printer and USB port without putting me the drive back in, and the printer worked.

  That may help a user in the future.

  I installed a printer LaserJet 1018 on Windows XP. Well, it does not print. Or, better say, it prints a test page looking very nice every time I reinstall, then sometimes it prints a page or two, among the dozens I ordered, but in most cases, all I get is a Windows error message.   I am trying to install a HP LaserJet 1018 on my desktop acer with Windows Vista.

  I tried the 32 and 64 bit, but no desire to work.

  Does anyone have any suggestions?

  You must use any driver matches your operating system.  If you have a 32-bit operating system loads the 32-bit driver and vice versa.  You can find the version of your OS in start, Control Panel, System.  Once you have determined the good OS download drivers from here for 64-bit or 32-bit drivers.

  Do not connect the printer to the computer until you are instructed to do so by the installer.  Run the downloaded program.

  Assuming you've done the above, what happens?  What error messages are you getting?  If you get an error message when you try to download the driver to see this page.  You may have firewall settings that are blobking the FTP transfer, the link gives workarounds.

  You will need to select your operating system from the menu drop down.  There are full feature software and driver for your printer.

• LaserJet 1018 will not work on windows 7

  I have a HP Laserjet 1018 which works fine on Windows Vista 64 - bit.  I just built a new PC and put Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit on it.  The drivers on the HP support site will not work.  When I try to print something, it is sent to the printer and disappears.  I interrupt printing that document actually get sent to the printer and it appears.  As soon as I have some Nations United-pause the printer, the document disappears, but nothing prints.  Normally, when something is sent to the printer, the "information" LED yellow lights up momentarily and prints the document.  The led does not at all.  I tried new cables, uninstalling and reinstalling etc.  Nothing works.  Just to be sure this isn't a printing problem general, I connected a Laserjet 1020 on the new machine and it works fine.  However, it is my printer to work and I can't leave it on the new computer, which is a personal computer for my home.  It worked to identify that my copy of Windows 7 allows you to print, but is not a long-term solution.  Help?

  There is a print server in the printer, but it's probably only for the RJ45. I mean that it won't work with a usb wireless adapter because there is nothing to assign an IP address. The only option is a wireless print server.
